Abstract:The soft/hard ferrite composites having the chemical formula xNi0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4/(1 − x)SrFe12O19 (x = 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3) are synthesized by the two-step ball-milling-assisted ceramic process. The effect of Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 content and calcination temperature on the structure, morphology and magnetic properties of xNi0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4/(1 − x)SrFe12O19 composites is systematically investigated. The results show that the magnetic properties of xNi0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4/(1 − x)SrFe12O19 composites can be well tunable by changing the Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 content (x) and calcination temperature. Compared with a mixture of Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 and SrFe12O19 without exchange-coupling, magnetic properties of Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4/SrFe12O19 composites can be greatly enhanced, attributed exchange-coupling effect between Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 and SrFe12O19 particles. Especially, 0.1Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4/0.9SrFe12O19 composite, calcined at 800 °C, exhibits the highest remanence (27.98 emu/g), magnetic moment (8.304 µB), coercivity (3276.32 Oe), and effective anisotropy constant (475542.51 erg/g) values. Based on a lower value of coercivity, moderate specific saturation magnetization and remanence, the as-prepared Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4/SrFe12O19 nanocomposites can be regarded as a new candidate for the sensing and electromagnetic applications.
