Abstract:We give a Bezout type inequality for mixed volumes, which holds true for any convex bodies. The key ingredient is the reverse Khovanskii-Teissier inequality for convex bodies, which was obtained in our previous work and inspired by its correspondence in complex geometry.

Abstract:In this note, we study Bézout type inequalities for mixed volumes and Minkowski sums of convex bodies in . We first give a new proof and we extend inequalities of Jian Xiao on mixed discriminants. Then, we use the mass transport method to deduce some Bézout type inequalities for mixed volumes. Finally, we apply these inequalities to obtain Bézout type inequalities for Minkowski sums.

Abstract:In [SZ], Soprunov and Zvavitch have translated the Bezout inequalities (from Algebraic Geometry) into inequalities of mixed volumes satisfied by the simplex. They conjecture this set of inequalities characterizes the simplex, among all convex bodies in R^n. Together with Saroglou, they proved the characterization among all polytopes [SSZ1] and, for a larger set of inequalities, among all convex bodies [SSZ2]. The conjecture remains open for n \geq 4. In this work, we investigate necessary conditions on the structure of the boundary of a convex body K, for K to satisfy all inequalities. In particular, we obtain a new solution of the 3-dimensional case.

This paper obtains that mixed volume under Steiner symmetrization is monotonic and decreasing, and a concise proof of the general Minkowski inequality by Steiner symmetrization is obtained.

Abstract:We present a new algebraic-combinatorial approach to proving a Bezout-type inequality for zonoids in dimension three, which has recently been established by Fradelizi, Madiman, Meyer, and Zvavitch. Our approach hints at connections between inequalities for mixed volumes of zonoids and real algebra and matroid theory.

Abstract:In a seminal paper "Volumen und Oberfläche" (1903), Minkowski introduced the basic notion of mixed volumes and the corresponding inequalities that lie at the heart of convex geometry. The fundamental importance of characterizing the extremals of these inequalities was already emphasized by Minkowski himself, but has to date only been resolved in special cases. In this paper, we completely settle the extremals of Minkowski's quadratic inequality, confirming a conjecture of R. Schneider. Our proof is based on the representation of mixed volumes of arbitrary convex bodies as Dirichlet forms associated to certain highly degenerate elliptic operators. A key ingredient of the proof is a quantitative rigidity property associated to these operators.

Abstract:In this paper, we derive new sharp weighted Alexandrov-Fenchel and Minkowski inequalities for smooth, closed hypersurfaces under various convexity assumptions in Euclidean, spherical, and hyperbolic spaces. These inequalities extend classical results by incorporating weights given by convex, non-decreasing positive functions, which are otherwise arbitrary. Our approach gives rise to a broad family of geometric inequalities, as each convex, non-decreasing function yields a corresponding inequality, providing considerable flexibility.

Abstract:Grünbaum's inequality gives sharp bounds between the volume of a convex body and its part cut off by a hyperplane through the centroid of the body. We provide a generalization of this inequality for hyperplanes that do not necessarily contain the centroid. As an application, we obtain a sharp inequality that compares sections of a convex body to the maximal section parallel to it.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a new Heintze–Karcher type inequality for shifted mean convex hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space. As applications, we prove an Alexandrov-type theorem for closed embedded hypersurfaces with constant shifted k th mean curvature in hyperbolic space. Furthermore, two uniqueness results for certain curvature equations are also obtained.

Abstract:In this paper we prove the following Willmore-type inequality: On an unbounded closed convex set $K\subset\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ $(n\ge 2)$, for any embedded hypersurface $\Sigma\subset K$ with boundary $\partial\Sigma\subset \partial K$ satisfying certain contact angle condition, there holds $$\frac1{n+1}\int_{\Sigma}\vert{H}\vert^n{\rm d}A\ge{\rm AVR}(K)\vert\mathbb{B}^{n+1}\vert.$$ Moreover, equality holds if and only if $\Sigma$ is a part of a sphere and $K\setminus\Omega$ is a part of the solid cone determined by $\Sigma$. Here $\Omega$ is the bounded domain enclosed by $\Sigma$ and $\partial K$, $H$ is the normalized mean curvature of $\Sigma$, and ${\rm AVR}(K)$ is the asymptotic volume ratio of $K$. We also prove an anisotropic version of this Willmore-type inequality. As a special case, we obtain a Willmore-type inequality for anisotropic capillary hypersurfaces in a half-space.

Abstract:We present several analogies between convex geometry and the theory of holomorphic line bundles on smooth projective varieties or K\"ahler manifolds. We study the relation between positive products and mixed volumes. We define and study a Blaschke addition for divisor classes and mixed divisor classes, and prove new geometric inequalities for divisor classes. We also reinterpret several classical convex geometry results in the context of algebraic geometry: the Alexandrov body construction is the convex geometry version of divisorial Zariski decomposition; Minkowski's existence theorem is the convex geometry version of the duality between the pseudo-effective cone of divisors and the movable cone of curves.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove an optimal Heintze-Karcher-type inequality for anisotropic free boundary hypersurfaces in general convex domains. The equality is achieved for anisotropic free boundary Wulff shapes in a convex cone. As applications, we prove various Alexandrov-type theorems.

Abstract:Some formulas for the volumes of s-Orlicz convex simplices with s > 0 are established. The convex-concave degree is introduced and studied for an s-Orlicz convex hull in the n-dimensional Euclidean spaces. As applications, the Yang-Zhang type geometric inequalities concerning s-Orlicz convex simplices with 0 < s ≤ 1 are proved. Also, a generalized formula for the volumes of unit balls in the p-normed spaces with p > 0 is presented.

Abstract:The longstanding Godbersen's conjecture states that for any convex body $K \subset \mathbb R^n$ of volume $1$ and any $j \in \{0, \ldots, n\}$, the mixed volume $V_j = V(K[j], -K[n - j])$ is bounded by $\binom{n}{j}$, with equality if and only if $K$ is a simplex. We demonstrate that several consequences of this conjecture are true: certain families of linear combinations of the $V_j$, arising from different geometric constructions, are bounded above by their values when one substitutes $\binom{n}{j}$ for $V_j$, with equality if and only if $K$ is a simplex. One of our results implies that for any $K$ of volume $1$ we have $\frac{1}{n + 1} \sum_{j = 0}^n \binom{n}{j}^{-1} V_j \le 1$, showing that Godbersen's conjecture holds ``on average'' for any body. Another result generalizes the well-known Rogers-Shephard inequality for the difference body.

Abstract:Our main aim is to generalize the classical mixed volume V ( K 1 , ... , K n ) and Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality to the Orlicz space. In the framework of Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski theory, we introduce a new affine geometric quantity by calculating the Orlicz first-order variation of the mixed volume and call it Orlicz multiple mixed volume of convex bodies K 1 , ... , K n , and L n , denoted by V φ ( K 1 , ... , K n , L n ) , which involves ( n + 1 ) convex bodies in R n . The fundamental notions and conclusions of the mixed volume and Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality are extended to an Orlicz setting. The related concepts and inequalities of L p -multiple mixed volume V p ( K 1 , ... , K n , L n ) are also derived. The Orlicz-Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality in special cases yields L p -Aleksandrov-Fenchel inequality, Orlicz-Minkowski inequality, and Orlicz isoperimetric type inequalities. As application, a new Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski inequality for Orlicz harmonic addition is established, which implies Orlicz-Brunn-Minkowski inequalities for the volumes and quermassintegrals.

Some geometric inequalities by the ABP method

Abstract:In this paper, we apply the so-called Alexandrov-Bakelman-Pucci (ABP) method to establish some geometric inequalities. We first prove a logarithmic Sobolev inequality for closed $n$-dimensional minimal submanifolds $\Sigma$ of $\mathbb S^{n+m}$. As a consequence, it recovers the classical result that $|\mathbb S^n| \leq |\Sigma|$ for $m = 1,2$. Next, we prove a Sobolev-type inequality for positive symmetric two-tensors on smooth domains in $\mathbb R^n$ which was established by D. Serre when the domain is convex. In the last application of the ABP method, we formulate and prove an inequality related to quermassintegrals of closed hypersurfaces of the Euclidean space.
