Abstract:In this paper we study the existence of closed convex hypersurfaces in the Euclidean space Rn+1 such that a Weingarten curvature, regarded as a function of their unit normal, is equal to a given positive function on the unit sphere Sn. Two classical problems of this type, namely the Christoffel problem [6] and the Minkowski problem [16], which address respectively the cases of harmonic and Gauss curvature, were completely solved in the 1970’s [7,9,17]. Besides the harmonic and Gauss curvatures, the most interesting Weingarten curvatures are probably the mean curvature, or more generally the k-curvatures (1 ≤ k ≤ n)

Abstract:Some geometric behaviours of complete solutions to mean curvature flow before the singularities occur are studied. The author obtains the estimates of the rate of the distance between two fixed points and the derivatives of the second fundamental form. Abstract:In this article, we will use inverse mean curvature flow to establish an optimal Sobolev-type inequality for hypersurfaces $$\Sigma $$ with nonnegative sectional curvature in $$\mathbb {H}^n$$ . As an application, we prove the hyperbolic Alexandrov–Fenchel inequalities for hypersurfaces with nonnegative sectional curvature in $$\mathbb {H}^n$$ : $$\begin{aligned} \int _{\Sigma } p_{2k}\ge \omega _{n-1}\left[ \left( \frac{|\Sigma |}{\omega _{n-1}}\right) ^\frac{1}{k} +\left( \frac{|\Sigma |}{\omega _{n-1}}\right) ^{\frac{1}{k}\frac{n-1-2k}{n-1}}\right] ^k, \end{aligned}$$ where $$p_i$$ is the normalized i-th mean curvature. Equality holds if and only if $$\Sigma $$ is a geodesic sphere in $$\mathbb {H}^n$$ . For a domain $$\Omega \subset \mathbb {H}^n$$ with $$\Sigma =\partial \Omega $$ having nonnegative sectional curvature, we prove an optimal inequality for quermassintegral in $$\mathbb {H}^n$$ : $$\begin{aligned} W_{2k+1}(\Omega )\ge \frac{\omega _{n-1}}{n}\sum _{i=0}^{k}\frac{n-1-2k}{n-1-2i} C_k^i\left( \frac{|\Sigma |}{\omega _{n-1}}\right) ^\frac{n-1-2i}{n-1}, \end{aligned}$$ where $$W_i(\Omega )$$ is the i-th quermassintegral in integral geometry. Equality holds if and only if $$\Sigma $$ is a geodesic sphere in $$\mathbb {H}^n$$ . All these inequalities were previously proved by Ge et al. (J Differ Geom 98:237–260, 2014) under the stronger condition that $$\Sigma $$ is horospherical convex.

Abstract:In this paper, we first study the locally constrained curvature flow of hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space, which was introduced by Brendle, Guan and Li (An inverse curvature type hypersurface flow in $${\mathbb {H}}^{n+1}$$ , preprint). This flow preserves the mth quermassintegral and decreases $$(m+1)$$ th quermassintegral, so the convergence of the flow yields sharp Alexandrov–Fenchel type inequalities in hyperbolic space. Some special cases have been studied in Brendle et al. In the first part of this paper, we show that h-convexity of the hypersurface is preserved along the flow and then the smooth convergence of the flow for h-convex hypersurfaces follows. We then apply this result to establish some new sharp geometric inequalities comparing the integral of kth Gauss–Bonnet curvature of a smooth h-convex hypersurface to its mth quermassintegral (for $$0\le m\le 2k+1\le n$$ ), and comparing the weighted integral of kth mean curvature to its mth quermassintegral (for $$0\le m\le k\le n$$ ). In particular, we give an affirmative answer to a conjecture proposed by Ge, Wang and Wu (Math Z 281, 257–297, 2015). In the second part of this paper, we introduce a new locally constrained curvature flow using the shifted principal curvatures. This is natural in the context of h-convexity. We prove the smooth convergence to a geodesic sphere of the flow for h-convex hypersurfaces, and provide a new proof of the geometric inequalities proved by Andrews, Chen and the third author of this paper in 2018. We also prove a family of new sharp inequalities involving the weighted integral of kth shifted mean curvature for h-convex hypersurfaces, which as application implies a higher order analogue of Brendle, Hung and Wang’s (Commun Pure Appl Math 69(1), 124–144, 2016) inequality.
A New Gap for Complete Hypersurfaces with Constant Mean Curvature in Space Forms

Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional closed hypersurface with constant mean curvature and constant scalar curvature in a unit sphere. Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form. We prove that if a(n, H) <= S <= alpha( n, H)+ CnH2, where n >= 4 and H not equal 0, then S = alpha( n, H) and M is a Clifford torus Sn-1(r(1)) x S-1(r(2)). Here alpha(n, H) = n + n(3)/2(n -1) H-2 - n(n - 2)/2(n - 1) root n(2)H(4) + 4(n - 1) H-2, and C-n is a positive constant explicitly depending on n. The emphasis is that our gap theorem imposes no restriction on the range of mean curvature. Moreover, we obtain gap theorems for complete hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature and constant scalar curvature in space forms.

Abstract:In this work we establish a sharp geometric inequality for closed hypersurfaces in complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds with asymptotically nonnegative curvature using standard comparison methods in Riemannian Geometry. These methods have been applied in a recent work by Xiaodong Wang to greatly simplify the proof of a Willmore-type inequality in complete noncompact Riemannian manifolds of nonnegative Ricci curvature, which was first proved by Agostiniani, Fagagnolo and Mazzieri.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish two families of sharp geometric inequalities for closed hypersurfaces in space forms or other warped product manifolds. Both families of inequalities compare three distinct geometric quantities. The first family concerns the $k$-th boundary momentum, area, and weighted volume, and has applications to Weinstock-type inequalities for Steklov or Wentzell eigenvalues on star-shaped mean convex domains. This generalizes the main results of [12]. The second family involves a weighted $k$-th mean curvature integral and two distinct quermassintegrals and extends the authors' recent work [33] with G. Wheeler and V.-M. Wheeler.

Abstract:We employ the harmonic mean curvature flow of strictly convex closed hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space to prove Alexandrov-Fenchel type inequalities relating quermassintegrals to the total curvature, which is the integral of Gaussian curvature on the hypersurface. The resulting inequality allows us to use the inverse mean curvature flow to prove Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities between the total curvature and the area for strictly convex hypersurfaces. Finally, we apply the harmonic mean curvature flow to prove a new class of geometric inequalities for h-convex hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space.

Abstract:We prove a Minkowski type inequality for weakly mean convex and star-shaped hypersurfaces in warped cylinders which are asymptotically flat or hyperbolic. Abstract:We consider a locally constrained curvature flow in a static rotationally symmetric space $\mathbf{N}^{n+1}$, which was firstly introduced by Hu and Li in the hyperbolic space. We prove that if the initial hypersurface is graphical, then the smooth solution of the flow remains to be graphical, exists for all positive time $t\in[0,\infty)$ and converges to a slice of $\mathbf{N}^{n+1}$ exponentially in the smooth topology. Moreover, we prove that the flow preserves static convexity if the initial hypersurface is close to a slice of $\mathbf{N}^{n+1}$ in the $C^1$ sense. As applications, we prove a family of weighted geometric inequalities for static convex domains which is close to a slice of $\mathbf{N}^{n+1}$ in the $C^1$ sense.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a new Heintze–Karcher type inequality for shifted mean convex hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space. As applications, we prove an Alexandrov-type theorem for closed embedded hypersurfaces with constant shifted k th mean curvature in hyperbolic space. Furthermore, two uniqueness results for certain curvature equations are also obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we first consider the curve case of Hu-Li-Wei's flow for shifted principal curvatures of h-convex hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}$ proposed in [10]. We prove that if the initial closed curve is smooth and strictly h-convex, then the solution exists for all time and preserves strict h-convexity along the flow. Moreover, the evolving curve converges smoothly and exponentially to a geodesic circle centered at the origin. The key ingredient in our proof is the Heintze-Karcher type inequality for h-convex curves proved recently in [14].

Abstract:In the present paper, we first establish and verify a new sharp hyperbolic version of the Michael-Simon inequality for mean curvatures in hyperbolic space H n + 1 based on the locally constrained inverse curvature flow introduced by Brendle, Guan and Li ("An inverse curvature type hypersurface flow in H n + 1 ," (Preprint)) as follows provided that M is h -convex and f is a positive smooth function, where λ ′( r ) = cosh r . In particular, when f is of constant, (0.1) coincides with the Minkowski type inequality stated by Brendle, Hung, and Wang in ("A Minkowski inequality for hypersurfaces in the anti-de Sitter-Schwarzschild manifold," Commun. Pure Appl. Math. , vol. 69, no. 1, pp. 124–144, 2016). Abstract:We prove that a proper weak solution $\{ \Omega_{t} \}_{0 \leq t < \infty}$ to inverse mean curvature flow in $\mathbb{H}^{n}$, $3\leq n \leq 7$, is smooth and star-shaped by the time \begin{equation*} T= (n-1) \log \left( \frac{\text{sinh} \left( r_{+} \right)}{ \text{sinh} \left( r_{-} \right)} \right), \end{equation*} where $r_{+}$ and $r_{-}$ are the geodesic out-radius and in-radius of the initial domain $\Omega_{0}$. The argument is inspired by the Alexandrov reflection method for extrinsic curvature flows in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ due to Chow-Gulliver and uses a result of Li-Wei. In addition to this, our methods establish expanding spheres as the only proper weak IMCF on $\mathbb{H}^{n} \setminus \{ 0 \}$ in all dimensions. As applications, we extend the Minkowski inequalities of Brendle-Hung-Wang and De Lima-Girao to outer-minimizing domains $\Omega_{0} \subset \mathbb{H}^{n}$ in dimensions $3 \leq n \leq 7$. From this, we also extend a Penrose-type inequality to balanced asymptotically hyperbolic graphs over the exteriors of outer-minimizing domains of $\mathbb{H}^{n}$ in these dimensions.

Abstract:We consider the Gauss curvature type flow for uniformly convex hypersurfaces in the hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}\ (n\geqslant 2)$. We prove that if the initial closed hypersurface is smooth and uniformly convex, then the smooth solution exists for all positive time and converges smoothly and exponentially to a geodesic sphere centered at the origin. The key step is to prove the upper bound of Gauss curvature and that uniform convexity preserves along the flow. As an application, we provide a new proof for an Alexandrov-Fenchel inequality comparing $(n-2)$th quermassintegral and volume of convex domains in $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}\ (n\geqslant 2)$.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a Willmore-type inequality for closed hypersurfaces in a complete Riemannian manifold of dimension $n+1$ with ${\rm Ric}\geq-ng$. It extends the classic result of Argostianiani, Fogagnolo, and Mazzieri in [1] to the Riemannian manifold of negative curvature. As an application, we construct a Willmore-type inequality for closed hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space and obtain the characterization of geodesic sphere.

Abstract:In this paper, we first give some new characterizations of geodesic spheres in the hyperbolic space by the condition that hypersurface has constant weighted shifted mean curvatures, or constant weighted shifted mean curvature ratio, which generalize the result of Hu-Wei-Zhou \cite{HWZ23}. Secondly, we investigate several rigidity problems for hypersurfaces in the hyperbolic space with constant linear combinations of weighted shifted mean curvatures as well as radially symmetric shifted mean curvatures. As applications, we obtain the rigidity results for hypersurfaces with constant linear combinations of mean curvatures in a general form and constant Gauss-Bonnet curvature $L_k$ under weaker conditions, which extend the work of the third author and Xia \cite{WX14}.

Abstract:In this paper, we uncover an intriguing algebra property of an element symmetric polynomial. By this property, we establish the longtime existence and convergence of a locally constrained flow, thereby some families of geometric inequalities in sphere can be derived. Meanwhile, a new family of ``three terms'' geometric inequalities involving two weighted curvature integrals and one quermassintegral are proved. Unlike hyperbolic spaces, we also obtain an inverse weighted geometric inequality in sphere.
