Abstract:A linear model for longitudinal data with continuous responses and error-prone covariates via quadratic in-ference functions methods is considered. Asymptotic normality of the parameter estimators is established by quadratic inference functions. In order to testing interested parameter,the statistic that proposed asymptotically follows a chi-squared distribution. The finite-sample properties of the procedures are studied through Monte Carlo simulations. At last,an application to a longitudinal study is used to illustrate the procedure developed here.

Abstract:Most of the research work in the theory of survey sampling only deals with the sampling errors under the assumptions: (i) there is a complete response and (ii) recorded information from individuals is correct but in practice it is not always true. Non-sampling errors like non-response and measurement errors (MEs) mostly creep into the survey and become more influential for estimators than sampling errors. Considering this practical situation of non-response and MEs jointly, we proposed an optimum class of estimators for population mean under simple random sampling using conventional and non-conventional measures. Bias and mean square error of the proposed estimators are derived up to first degree of approximation. Moreover, a simulation study is conducted to assess the performance of new estimators which proves that proposed estimators are more efficient than the traditional Hansen and Hurwitz estimator and other competing estimators.

Abstract:Heterogeneity exists in populations, and people may benefit differently from the same treatments or services. Correctly identifying subgroups corresponding to outcomes such as treatment response plays an important role in data-based decision making. As few discussions exist on subgroup analysis with measurement error, we propose a new estimation method to consider these two components simultaneously under the linear regression model. First, we develop an objective function based on unbiased estimating equations with two repeated measurements and a concave penalty on pairwise differences between coefficients. The proposed method can identify subgroups and estimate coefficients simultaneously when considering measurement error. Second, we derive an algorithm based on the alternating direction method of multipliers algorithm and demonstrate its convergence. Third, we prove that the proposed estimators are consistent and asymptotically normal. The performance and asymptotic properties of the proposed method are evaluated through simulation studies. Finally, we apply our method to data from the Lifestyle Education for Activity and Nutrition study and identify two subgroups, of which one has a significant treatment effect.

Abstract:AbstractA new robust indirect algorithm for measurement error covariance estimation is proposed in this paper. The residual covariance matrix is estimated using Hampel's three‐part redescending M‐estimators. Then measurement error covariance can be obtained from the residual covariance. Unlike the conventional indirect estimations of measurement error covariance, which are very sensitive to gross errors, credible results can be achieved either with or without the presence of external causes. Implementation results show the robustness of the proposed method.

Abstract:In this article, an estimate of a change point in variance of measurement errors ( ME) is given in terms of characteristic functions when the variances are known. Its modification is also given for the case that the variances are unknown. In addition, the consistency and convergence rates of the estimator and its modification are investigated. The simulation study shows that the proposed estimators perform well.

Abstract:Motivated by different groups containing different group information under the heteroscedastic error structure, we propose the groupwise scaled envelope model that is invariable to scale changes and is permissible for distinct regression coefficients and the heteroscedastic error structure across groups. It retains the potential of the scaled envelope methods to keep the scale invariant and allows for both different regression coefficients and different error structures for diverse groups. Further, we demonstrate the maximum likelihood estimators and its theoretical properties including parameter identifiability, asymptotic distribution and consistency of the groupwise scaled envelope estimator. Lastly, simulation studies and a real-data example demonstrate the advantages of the groupwise scaled envelope estimators, including a comparison with the standard model estimators, groupwise envelope estimators, scaled envelope estimators and separate scaled envelope estimators.

Abstract:In this paper,we discuss the estimator of the regression coefficients in the linear regression models based on grouped data.We want to estimate the parameters by MLE,but there are no closed-form expressions for the MLE.Under certain conditions,we apply the EM algorithm to obtain the approximate solution of the MLE.By means of simulations we show that this method is available.

Abstract:This paper proposes two new estimation methods to fit a multiple structural measurement error model when all variables are subject to errors. The new estimation methods were extensions of the Wald estimation method, one is the weighted grouping method, and the other is the iterative method. A Monte Carlo experiment is performed to investigate the performance of the new estimators compared with the classical estimation methods; the Maximum Likelihood Estimator and Method of Moment, in terms of root mean square error and its bias. The simulation outcomes demonstrated that the suggested estimators are more effective than conventional estimators. In addition, real data analysis is discussed to examine the relationship between the national gross domestic product, unemployment rate, and human development index after applying the two proposed estimation methods.

Abstract:An important assumption used in the analysis of line transect data for animal abundance estimation is that the perpendicular sighting distances of detected animals to transect lines are measured accurately. However, in many line transect surveys, the sighting distances are likely to be subject to measurement errors. In this paper, we investigate the effect of measurement errors on animal abundance estimation and show that measurement errors cause systematic bias, which cannot be reduced by simply increasing the survey effort. Estimators that correct for measurement errors using the method of moments by assuming an exponential power series detection function and knowledge of only a few moments of the error distribution are proposed.

Abstract:Panel data with covariate measurement error appear frequently in various studies. Due to the sampling design and/or missing data, panel data are often unbalanced in the sense that panels have different sizes. For balanced panel data (i.e., panels having the same size), there exists a generalized method of moments (GMM) approach for adjusting covariate measurement error, which does not require additional validation data. This paper extends the GMM approach of adjusting covariate measurement error to unbalanced panel data. Two health related longitudinal surveys are used to illustrate the implementation of the proposed method.

Abstract:This study addresses the problem of parameter estimation in spatial autoregressive models with missing data and measurement errors in covariates. Specifically, a corrected likelihood estimation approach is employed to rectify the bias in the log-maximum likelihood function induced by measurement errors. Additionally, a combination of inverse probability weighting (IPW) and mean imputation is utilized to mitigate the bias caused by missing data. Under several mild conditions, it is demonstrated that the proposed estimators are consistent and possess oracle properties. The efficacy of the proposed parameter estimation process is assessed through Monte Carlo simulation studies. Finally, the applicability of the proposed method is further substantiated using the Boston Housing Dataset.
Estimation on functional partially linear single index measurement error model

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the functional partially linear single index model when measurement error exists in covariates. The main purpose of this article is to correct the biased estimators caused by additive error and construct the asymptotic properties of unknown parameters and function in model. Asymptotic distribution of the parametric component and the convergence rates of the nonparametric part are obtained under some regularity conditions. Compared with existing literatures in this field, such as functional partially linear and semi-functional partial linear regression model with measurement error, good performance in Tecator data analysis illustrates the advantages of the model and the significance of the proposed methodology. In this process, functional slice inverse regression is applied to estimate the functional single index parameter to improve computational efficiency. Furthermore, a simulation study is also carried out for demonstration.

Abstract:Linear regression with measurement error in the covariates is a heavily studied topic, however, the statistics/econometrics literature is almost silent to estimating a multi-equation model with measurement error. This paper considers a seemingly unrelated regression model with measurement error in the covariates and introduces two novel estimation methods: a pure Bayesian algorithm (based on Markov chain Monte Carlo techniques) and its mean field variational Bayes (MFVB) approximation. The MFVB method has the added advantage of being computationally fast and can handle big data. An issue pertinent to measurement error models is parameter identification, and this is resolved by employing a prior distribution on the measurement error variance. The methods are shown to perform well in multiple simulation studies, where we analyze the impact on posterior estimates arising due to different values of reliability ratio or variance of the true unobserved quantity used in the data generating process. The paper further implements the proposed algorithms in an application drawn from the health literature and shows that modeling measurement error in the data can improve model fitting.

Abstract:We study generalized varying coefficient partially linear models when some linear covariates are error prone, but their ancillary variables are available. We first calibrate the error-prone covariates, then develop a quasi-likelihood-based estimation procedure. To select significant variables in the parametric part, we develop a penalized quasi-likelihood variable selection procedure, and the resulting penalized estimators are shown to be asymptotically normal and have the oracle property. Moreover, to select significant variables in the nonparametric component, we investigate asymptotic behavior of the semiparametric generalized likelihood ratio test. The limiting null distribution is shown to follow a Chi-square distribution, and a new Wilks phenomenon is unveiled in the context of error-prone semiparametric modeling. Simulation studies and a real data analysis are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed methods.

Abstract:Registration problem is a prerequisite process for radar networking system to estimate and correct systematic errors accurately.The RealTime Quality Control(RTQC) algorithm is a classical approach for registration.In this paper,we get the precision of the RTQC algorithm by considering the effect of the random measurement noise,and then construct the linear model between the measurement and the system errors.According to the linear model,two modified registration algorithm are proposed,which are based on least square estimation and general least square estimation.The performance of the three algorithms is analyzed and compared.Simulation data approve that these two algorithms can alignment the system biases effectively.

Abstract:This paper explores the estimators of parameters for a partially linear single-index spatial model which has measurement errors in all variables. We propose an efficient methodology to estimate our model by combining a local-linear smoother based Pseudo- algorithm, simulation-extrapolation (SIMEX) algorithm, the estimation equation and the estimation method for profile maximum likelihood. Under some regular conditions, we derive the asymptotic properties of the link function and unknown estimators. Some simulations indicate our estimation method performs well. Finally, we apply our method to a real data set of Boston Housing Price. The result shows that our model fits the data set well.
