Abstract:With the rapid development of national economy, the construction industry has been fast developed. At the same time, the industry encounters some new problems, such as: slow response, disadvantaged financing and uncontrollable cost, low risk resistance capacity etc. These situations have seriously restricted the healthy development of construction industry. The supply chain management theory emphasis the system integration and the information sharing, applied to many several fields. This paper references the system integration thought of supply chain management to conduct the thorough analytical study on the application and value chain in the construction industry based on the supply chain management theory, and combining the actual situation of construction industry put forward the concrete countermeasures and suggestions. Consequently, the application of the supply chain management theory is able to obviously enhance the core competence and promote the harmonious development of the construction.

Abstract:The application of pictures and videos of both in domestic and overseas was examined.Large amount of related literatures were investigated and detailed field surveys were carried out to obtain the application requirement.The definition of image document was made.Functions related to the management of image documents were implemented by expanding an existing multi-party collaboration platform system for construction projects called ePIMS~+.As a simulation to the practical use case,pictures taken in a stadium project were managed by this system.The simulation verified the feasibility of using image documents in construction project management.The result shows that efficient management and utilizing can be realized by using specific systems.

Abstract:The real options theory has received widespread attention for its response to environmental uncertainty and managerial flexibility. The paper attempts to apply real options theory in project portfolio selection so as to maximize the option value of the selected project portfolio. On the basis of analyzing major types of real options and their evaluation, it is found that real options are suitable for project selection, and the compound options are more in line with real-world project portfolios.

As a matter of fact, the innovation process is a dynamic, non-linear and systematic process, which makes the traditional innovation management too simple and inappropriate in a long term view. By reviewing these works and investigation results of some leading firms in China, this paper advances a new paradigm for innovation management, i.e., portfolio innovation, to integrate technological, organizational and institutional factors from a strategic and systematic view.

Abstract:Against the backdrop of the booming economic development in China, the construction industry has also witnessed rapid growth. The overall construction process of building projects is no longer a simple “drawing-construction” model, but has become more complex. This study aims to fully utilize BIM technology and apply it throughout the entire construction management process, with the goal of enhancing the quality of construction management, streamlining operational workflows, and improving efficiency. This paper analyzes the current research status both domestically and internationally, and identifies several implementable strategies to enhance the application efficiency of BIM technology in construction project management, considering its use in the planning, design, and construction stages. The research findings presented will greatly assist project management in the field of construction.

Abstract:The coexistence of conflict of interest and cooperation are two of the most significant characteristics in the process of construction project management. To maximize their interests, all parties involve and restrict each other in the process of management, resulting in the phenomenon of information asymmetry between Party A and Party B, passive slacking of contractors, project quality defects, and project claims in the process of project management. By applying game theory to the construction of engineering projects, it can facilitate managers from all parties to choose better decisions, thereby further improving the level of engineering management and expanding their own profits. Starting from the basic concepts of game theory and engineering project management, this article focuses on three perspectives: project bidding stage, construction stage, and engineering claim stage. It analyzes the game between owners and contractors under incomplete information conditions and concludes that both parties should realize the sharing of information resources and strictly abide by the principle of engineering contract equality. Several suggestions related to engineering project management are also proposed.

Abstract:In order to achieve the integration of design and construction, reduce engineering changes, save project costs and other performance goals, this paper analyzes the application of BIM technology in engineering projects through combining theory with practice. We systematically analyzed the process of BIM application in large-scale engineering projects, and realized the information unification of building life cycle management. Then the application points of BIM Technology in construction project are analyzed, and the key technologies needed for system implementation are described in detail. Finally, taking a construction project management process as a case to simulate, the specific measures of project modeling process, collision inspection and construction simulation process are proposed. The test and analysis results confirm the rationality and advantages of BIM Technology for project management and construction guidance.

Abstract:Purpose This study aims to develop a framework for the optimal selection of construction project portfolios for a construction holding company. The objective is to minimize risks, align the portfolio with the organization's strategic objectives and maximize portfolio returns and net present value (NPV). Design/methodology/approach The study develops a multi-objective genetic algorithm approach to optimize the portfolio selection process. The construction company's portfolio is categorized into four main classes: water projects, building projects, road projects and healthcare projects. A mathematical model is developed, and a genetic algorithm is implemented using MATLAB software. Data from a construction holding company in Iraq, including budget and candidate projects, are used as a case study. Findings The case study results show that out of the 34 candidate projects, 13 have been recommended for execution. These selected projects span different portfolio classes, such as water, building, road and healthcare projects. The total budget required for executing the selected projects is $64.55m, within the organization's budget limit. The convergence diagram of the genetic algorithm indicates that the best solutions were achieved around generation 20 and further improved from generation 60 onwards. Practical implications The study introduces a specialized framework for project portfolio management in the construction industry, focusing on risk management and strategic alignment. It uses a multi-objective genetic algorithm and risk analysis to minimize risks, increase returns and improve portfolio performance. The case study validates its practical applicability. Originality/value This study contributes to project portfolio management by developing a framework specifically tailored for construction holding companies. Integrating a multi-objective genetic algorithm allows for a comprehensive optimization process, taking into account various objectives, including portfolio returns, NPV, risk reduction and strategic alignment. The case study application provides practical insights and validates the effectiveness of the proposed framework in a real-world setting.

Abstract:Abstract Construction industry is one of the pillar industries in China, which has made great contributions to China’s economic development. However, because the overall management level of the construction industry in China is still relatively low at present, the construction procedures of many projects are complex and involve many factors. In order to make the construction proceed smoothly, it is necessary to control the progress of construction projects reasonably. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to analyze the application of computer technology in construction project schedule control in the information age. In this paper, according to the actual situation, the project management software Project 2019 in computer technology is used to control and manage the progress of the project. Project 2019 can work out a set of optimal construction schedule within the specified time limit, compare it with the actual schedule, find out the deviation and its causes, make reasonable analysis and make corresponding adjustments. At the end of this paper, the construction projects controlled by the project management software Project 2019 are compared with those not used, and the actual effects of both are analyzed. The experimental results show that the project management software Project 2019 can effectively control the progress of the construction project reasonably, and can make corresponding adjustments according to the actual situation, which can accelerate the overall progress of the project by about 10%, which is of great significance for improving the existing construction project progress.
