Fabrication of Porous Β-Tcp Biomaterials by Sponge-soaking Process

Abstract:In this work,a new porous biodegradable β-Ca3(PO4)2 (β-TCP) ceramics was prepared by using sponge to absorb β-TCP slurry. The internal porous structure of specimen was analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The experiment results show that the materials have a great number of pores and these pores are interconnected, which favors biomedical degradation of the materials and helps induce the ingrowth of new bones after they are implanted in the body.
