Abstract:Objective:To observe the appearance of MRI of cervical spinal cord injury without fracture and dislocation and its clinical significance. Method: 116 cases of cervical spinal cord injury without fracture and dislocation were treated from Jan.1990~Dec.1995. X ray and MRI in cervical spine were taken in all cases when hospitalized. The appearance of MRI, relationship between MRI and treatment and the judgement for prognosis were studied. Results:We didn't find fracture and dislocation in cervical spine in all cases by X ray and MRI evaluation. Findings in MRI evaluation included: 1.12 cases of cervical spinal cord swelling. 2. Cervical spinal cord compression: A.38 cases of OPLL in cervical spine. B.55cases of cervical dischernation (degenerative and injured). C. 37 cases of hypertrophy or ossification of ligamenta flava. 3.9 cases of spinal cord atrophy. Signal changes of spinal cord in MRI included: 1.33 cases of spinal cord edema,. 2.9cases of intraspinal hemorrhage. 3.32 cases of cystic degeneration of spinal cord. 4.42 cases of no single change of cervical spinal cord. Conclusion: MRI of cervical spinal cord injury without fracture and dislocation shows causes and degrees of spinal cord injury. MRI evaluation provides reliable scientific foundation for choices of its treatment and judgment of prognosis.
