Abstract:A novel IP-CAS based on the characteristics of IP networks was designed and implemented. The key distribution scheme followed DVB-CAS' hierarchical structure. And a partly-scrambling method was introduced in IP layer, while a new transmission structure for ECM (Entitlement Control Message) was presented to reduce the number of transport streams. The last system performance shows that, this scheme can simplify the system structure, reduce the bandwidth requirement, decrease the implemental complexity and bring down the load of the terminal receiver.

Abstract:A conditional access system for mobile streaming media which can meet the demands of both high-quality live and video on demand is designed.The system introduces four-level administrative mechanism for keys and contains strong security features.Pure software solutions make up the defects that traditional digital TV,and mobile TV need assistances of hardware to work.The testing results show that the system can contain secure communications for real-time streaming media.

Abstract:With the developing and changing of computing patterns,the assessing technology of users also face new requirements. In networks with loosely-coupled and dynamic resources,an access mechanism characteristic of time-in- dependent, space-independent and physics-independent, which is called 3A(Anytime, Anywhere,and on Any device) access paradigm, should be provided for users. This paper analyzes the visions and requirements of 3A access paradigm and proposes three basic characters of the 3A paradigm,namely continuation,mobility and adaptability. Ad- ditionally we summarize and compare several solutions and relative technologies that support the three characters.

Abstract:This paper introduces a Video on Demand system based on both CATV broadcasting channels and IP interactive network. CATV broadcasting channels are used for content transmission and IP network is used for control information transmission between Set Top Box and Headend Server. The control mechanism of whole system is designed and implemented according to DSM-CC protocol stacks. The paper narrates the end-to-end system diagram and VoD application software of Set Top Box. The system can be used in CATV network and provide VoD services for CATV subscribers.

Abstract:A variety of subscriptions in Conditional Access System (CAS) of DTV broadcasting network bring complexity to the key distribution scheme. In this paper, an innovation of hierarchical key distribution scheme for CAS in DTV broadcasting is proposed to reduce the computation of encryption and the number of messages for key refreshment. Compared with the conventional key distribution schemes, no encrypted message is distributed for key refreshment when a subscriber leaves. Further more, our hierarchical tree of key can provide a lot more dynamic management, from which broadcasters can improve efficiency in managing program channels.

Abstract:数字电视条件接收系统是广播电视信息安全的关键环节,目前国内实用的系统均为国外公司的产品,不利于国家信息安全的管理。在现有DVB（Digital Video Broadcasting）标准的基础上,提出了SOPCA（SoftwarePlatform of Connecting Appliance）条件接收系统,实现了节目传输流加扰、节目管理、用户管理、分层加密机制和IC卡控制等关键技术,完成了在自主知识产权的SOPCA嵌入式操作系统和硬件平台上的原型机应用。经过总体结构和具体性能的综合分析比较,在功能上优于其它同类系统,最后对系统功能的进一步完善进行了探讨。

Abstract:To bridge the gap between insufficiency of existing proximity authentication solutions and the increasing demand of high security guarantee for access control systems, we develope a WISP-based access control system combing electronic and mechanical authentication methods. In our authentication, encryption complexity is changeable and trusted users can share privileges with each other. During experiments, our system has achieved 95% authentication accuracy rate with up to 3 different users.

Abstract:Recently, the Pay-TV broadcasting system becomes one of the popular applications because of the advance of modern network technique. The conditional access system is the essential function to provide the channel protection in Pay-TV broadcasting system. It ensures that only the authorized subscribers can precisely receive the TV program and the service provider can charge the subscribers according to their subscription. Several conditional access systems have been proposed for different business models such as pay-per-channel, pay-per-view, and flexible pay-per-channel. In this paper, we define a new business model named Flexible Pay-Per-Group and design a conditional access system for it. Compared with the previous works, subscribers in Flexible Pay-Per-Group still have sufficient flexibility. Besides, through our analysis and evaluation, the proposed conditional access system is efficient. Consequently, it can be applied on a large scale Pay-TV system with lots of subscribers and channels.

Abstract:According to the national conditional access subsystem separation(CASS) industrial policy for digital television(TV) broadcasting,this paper proposed a smartcard-conditional-access-interface-based CASS technique scheme for the digital TV receiver(including the set-top box and the integrated receiver).The proposed scheme has no additional requirement of any hardware configuration modification for the most current commercially available digital TV receivers in order to make them be common receiving platform independent of any specific CAS used by the broadcasting head-end.The only prerequisite is an inclusion of a common conditional access software plug-in(CCAP) compliant with the SCAI specification in the digital TV receiver and the corresponding conditional access smartcard.Compared to the schemes using PCMCIA-card or USB2.0-card,the proposed one is cost-effective and more succinct.This scheme is also one of the candidate national standards for Chinese digital TV broadcasting industry.

Abstract:In this paper we present a smart-card-based conditional access subsystem (CASS) separation scheme at the digital TV broadcasting receiving end. Following the proposed scheme, different conditional access (CA) systems can operate concurrently in one digital TV broadcasting network using a common receiving platform, which is independent of any specific CA system. The digital TV program subscriber needs only to change the corresponding CA smart card to view pay TV programs, which are scrambled by different CA systems. The main points of the proposed scheme and its reference implementation are presented in this paper. The reference implementation has been developed to verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme in practical broadcasting environment. The system architecture and the constituent logical function modules of this reference implementation, especially the part in STB, have been described in detail to better illustrate the working principle of this scheme. Compared to PC-card-based or other smart-card-based common interface schemes, the proposed one is much more cost performance efficient, succincter and easier to be accepted by CA system providers. This scheme is also one of the candidate standards for Chinese digital TV broadcasting.

Abstract:In DTV broadcasting, key distribution is the essential part of the conditional access system (CAS), which is directly related with the security of CAS. In this paper, considering the inefficiency of the current CAS, a modified key distribution algorithm is put forward, in which the hierarchical access control technology is used to distribute the authorization keys of channels while the Chinese remainder theorem is adopted to distribute the group keys to the subscribers. The proposed algorithm is secure enough as well as greatly reducing the forward security problem. Moreover, the algorithm is flexible in dynamic management of subscriber. Most importantly, the algorithm is more efficient than the current CAS for fewer messages being transferred during key rekeying and system initializing, which greatly saves the bandwidth of the channel

Abstract:This paper discusses the security of Conditional Access System and proposed several attack methods. It analyzes fundamentals of CW sharing and points out the security hole during the communication between the IC and STB. It proposes several existent traditional solutions to the CW sharing. Because there are security problems or cost problems accompanied with the traditional solutions this paper proposes a new technical method to prevent the CW sharing with low cost and high security. The method is based on a practical authentication and key agreement algorithm. The communication between STB and smart card is encrypted by the agreement key to protect the CW, which prevented effectively CW sharing based on plaintext.

Abstract:Based on four-level key hierarchy, a new key distribution scheme based on grouping access control for conditional access system in digital TV (DTV) broadcasting was presented. The key distribution scheme can greatly reduce computation load and complexity while providing higher security. Moreover, the proposed scheme is flexible in processing joining and leaving of subscriber, which makes service provider easy to manage the subscribers dynamically. In the end, the security and performance of the proposed scheme were analyzed and compared with other schemes. It shows that the proposed scheme is very feasible for practical applications.

Abstract:A protocol for secure communication between the set-top box and the smart card in conditional access systems is proposed. The protocol uses the Schnorr identification scheme to achieve the authentication of the smart card to the set-top box and uses an asymmetric cryptosystem to achieve the authentication of the set-top box to the smart card. The protocol minimizes the online computational burden of the smart card while it provides the same level of security as other protocols. Both security and performance of the protocol are analyzed. The result of the analysis shows that the protocol is robust to the malicious attacks and very applicable to the smart card with limited processing power. Moreover, the protocol makes it possible that various conditional access systems use the same set-top box because it is not necessary for the set-top box to store any secret proprietary data of conditional access system in advance in the protocol.
