Process and Features of Britain's Political Modernization--A Reading of Yan Zhaoxiang's Books on History of Britain's Political Institutions

Abstract:Although Political History of Britain's Political Parties differs greatly from History of Britain's Political Institutions and Noble History of Britain as one integrated mass which complement each other,the three books have constituted the united and conductive system which interprets Britain's political modernization,and show the author's explanatory skills of text and productive system of knowledge and discourse especially,namely seeks the best link point of history,psychology and sociology based on the new historical conception of macro-history,and applies research ways of mentality-action school,structure-function school,stage-course school and comparison-synthesis school to the analysis and solution in length and breadth of the varied structures of Britain's political modernization,the functions of each political unit and their relationships with each other on the basis of the mass superiority of subject conformity.Not only the three books have broken through the long-standing thinking mode,which prefer social revolution to social reformation,political outstanding figures to particular masses,and also class struggle to politics of political party and political institutions in academic circles,meanwhile have weakened the tendency of artificiality and instrumentalism of historical science's function,but also they have discovered a kind of relative balance between macro-generality and micro-fragmentality of historiography,consequently have set an example which may be followed for reappearing multiplicity,complexity and objectivity of historical science.
