Abstract:This study aims to probe into secondary school studentsu0027 regulatory emotional self-efficacy,and its relationship with their shyness and implicit self-theories of shyness,by surveying 756 secondary school students with corresponding scales. The results show the following:( 1) The boys and the first-year lower secondary school students reported a significantly higher level of regulatory emotional self-efficacy than the girls and the lower secondary school students from other academic grades, respectively;( 2) the secondary school students at different levels of shyness scored significantly differently in their regulatory emotional self-efficacy,and those at a higher level of shyness scored significantly lower than those at a lower level of shyness; and( 3) shyness can significantly predict their regulatory emotional self-efficacy,and their implicit self-theories of shyness mediate between their shyness and regulatory emotional self-efficacy.
