Abstract:Objective To correlate the CT findings with the pathologic features of abdominal localized Castleman′s disease. Methods The patients were 5 men and 3 women, ranging in age from 17 to 46 years. The diagnoses were confirmed by surgery in all patients. The clinical, surgical, histopathologic records, and CT images were reviewed. Results Histopathologically, the hyaline-vascular type (n=7) and mixed type (n=1) were demonstrated. On CT scan, the lesions in 7 patients appeared as larger (5-15 cm in diameter), solitary, cylindrical soft-tissue masses with marked enhancement. One case was presented as multiple nodular lesions at hepatic hilum. Arborizing calcification was found in the central part of the lesions in 3 patients. Conclusion Most of the localized Castleman′s diseases in the abdomen manifested as solitary mass with marked enhancement or central arborizing calcification. Contrast-enhanced CT played an important role in the definite diagnosis and clinical classification.
