CT and MRI Appearancs of Thoracic Castleman's Disease(report of 6 Cases)

Abstract:Objective:To explore the CT and MRI appearances of thoracic castleman's disease.Methods:The appearances of CT and MRI of thoracic castleman's disease(n=6) confirmed by operative pathology were analyzed retrospectively.Results:2 lesions were in middle mediastinum,1 lesion in hilum pulmonis,3 lesions in posterior mediastinum.The thoracic castleman's disease(n=6) including hyaline-vascular type(n=5) and plasma cell type(n=1).On CT the lesions were round or oval soft-tissue mass,distinct and trim margin with smooth and uniform density(n=4),unhomogeneous density(n=2), spot calcification(n=2),abnormity necrosis(n=1).The lesions were slightly hyperintense in middle mediastinum,hyperintense in right hilum pulmonis on T1WI images;unhomogeneously hyperintense on T2WI.Homogeneous enhancement(n=4),unhomogeneous enhancement(n=2) and homogeneous hyperintense on T1WI were apparent during contrast on CT and MRI;all lesions were obvious enhancement and 40HU increased.Conclusion:The CT and MRI have important value in diagnosis of castleman's disease.
