Abstract:The local and global well-posedness for the one dimensional fourth-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation are established in the modulation space $M^{s}_{2,q}$ for $s\geq \frac12$ and $2\leq q <\infty$. The local result is based on the $U^p-V^p$ spaces and crucial bilinear estimates. The key ingredient to obtain the global well-posedness is that we achieve a-priori estimates of the solution in modulation spaces by utilizing the power series expansion of the perturbation determinant introduced by Killip-Visan-Zhang for completely integrable PDEs.

Abstract:We study the global well-posedness of the two-dimensional defocusing fourth-order Schrödinger initial value problem with power type nonlinearities $\vert u\vert^{2k}u$ where $k$ is a positive integer. By using the $I$-method, we prove that global well-posedness is satisfied in the Sobolev spaces $H^{s}(\mathbb{R}^{2})$ for $2-\frac{3}{4k}<s<2$.

Abstract:In this work we study the Cauchy problem of a fourth-order nonlinear Schrodinger equation which arises from certain physical applications. We consider only the cases n = 1, 2, 3. Local existence of solutions for initial data belonging to Sobolev spaces with index greater than n/2 is established by using the standard contraction mapping argument. The main topic is proving that the solution is global if either the exponent of the nonlinear term is sub-critical or it is critical or super-critical but the initial data are small. This result extends the corresponding result of Fibich et al. obtained in 2002 to the super-critical case and to a more general equation. The analysis is based on applications of conservation laws for this equation. (C) 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:The sharp local well-posedness for the one dimensional fourth-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation is established in the Sobolev space Hs(R) for s≥12 , which improves the results in Huo and Jia (2007). In addition, we prove that this equation cannot be solved by an iteration scheme based on the Duhamel formula in Hs(R) for s<12 . Our method relies upon the Bourgain space and a crucial bilinear estimate, which avoids the tedious classification of the location to the highest dispersion modulation.

Abstract:In this paper we study the well posedness of solution to a certain system of nonlinear Klein–Gordon–Schrodinger equations in three space dimensions. Basing on the Strichartz estimates, we obtain the global existence, uniqueness of the solutions, and continuous dependence with respect to initial data in the Sobolev spaces of low regularities by setting appropriate contraction and taking difference estimates.

Abstract:The influence of the random perturbations on the fourth-order nonlinear Schrödinger equations, iu_t + Δ ^2 u + εΔ u + λ |u|^p - 1 u = ξ̇,(t,x) ∈ℝ^ + ×ℝ^n ,n ⩾ 1,ε∈{ - 1,0, + 1} , , is investigated in this paper. The local well-posedness in the energy space H 2 (ℝ n ) are proved for p > n + 4n + 2 , and p ≤ 2 # − 1 if n ≥ 5. Global existence is also derived for either defocusing or focusing L 2 -subcritical nonlinearities.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the global well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for nonlinear Schrdinger type equations of higher order. We obtain the existence and uniqueness of global solutions, and their continuous dependence on the initial value, having the stronger decay property, by using the fixed point argument.The conclusions of this paper extend the results in [4].

Abstract:This article studies the existence and nonexistence of global solutions to the initial boundary value problems for semilinear wave and heat equation, and for Cauchy problem of nonlinear Schrodinger equation. This is done under three possible initial energy levels, except the NLS as it does not have comparison principle. The most important feature in this article is a new hypothesis on the nonlinear source terms which can include at least eight important and popular power-type nonlinearities as special cases. This article also finds some kinds of divisions for the initial data to guarantee the global existence or finite time blowup of the solution of the above three problems.

Abstract:For $n\geq 2$, we establish the smooth effects for the solutions of the linear fourth order Shr\"{o}dinger equation in anisotropic Lebesgue spaces with $\Box_k$-decomposition. Using these estimates, we study the Cauchy problem for the fourth order nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equations with three order derivatives and obtain the global well posedness for this problem with small data in modulation space $M^{9/2}_{2,1}({\Real^{n}})$.

Abstract:This article concerns the Cauchy problem for fourth-order semi linear Schrodinger equations. By constructing a variational problem and some invariant manifolds, we prove the existence of a global solution. Then we analyze the difficulties in proving the finite time blowup of the solution for the corresponding problem in the frame of the variational method. Understanding the finite time blowup of solutions, without radial initial data, still remains an open problem.

Abstract:In this paper we establish local well-posedness in the Sobolev space Hs(Rn) with s>s0 for a general class of nonlinear dispersive equations of the type ∂tu−iP(Dx)u=F(u), where P(Dx) is an elliptic differential operator on Rn with a real symbol, F(u) is a nonlinear function which behaves like |u|σu for some constant σ>0, and s0 is a critical index suggested by a standard scaling argument. By using such local result and conservation laws, we improve the known and obtain some new global well-posedness results for the fourth-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation i∂tu+a△u+b△2u=c|u|σu.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that there exists some small epsilon(*) > 0 such that the derivative nonlinear Schrodinger equation ( DNLS) is globally well-posed in the energy space, provided that the initial data u(0) is an element of H-1(R) satisfies parallel to u(0)parallel to(L2) < root 2 pi + epsilon(*). This result shows us that there are no blow-up solutions whose masses slightly exceed 2 pi, even if their energies are negative. This phenomenon is much different from the behavior of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with critical nonlinearity. The technique used is a variational argument together with the momentum conservation law. Further, for the DNLS on the half-line R+, we show the blow-up for the solution with negative energy.

Abstract:Global weak solution for a nonlinear model with forth order nonlinearities and conserved quantities is considered. Assuming its initial value satisfies certain assumptions that are weaker than the sign condition, we derive a higher integrability estimate and an upper bound estimate about the space derivatives of its solutions and then prove that the equation has global weak solutions.
