Abstract:The sharp local well-posedness for the one dimensional fourth-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation is established in the Sobolev space Hs(R) for s≥12 , which improves the results in Huo and Jia (2007). In addition, we prove that this equation cannot be solved by an iteration scheme based on the Duhamel formula in Hs(R) for s<12 . Our method relies upon the Bourgain space and a crucial bilinear estimate, which avoids the tedious classification of the location to the highest dispersion modulation.

Abstract:For $n\geq 2$, we establish the smooth effects for the solutions of the linear fourth order Shr\"{o}dinger equation in anisotropic Lebesgue spaces with $\Box_k$-decomposition. Using these estimates, we study the Cauchy problem for the fourth order nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equations with three order derivatives and obtain the global well posedness for this problem with small data in modulation space $M^{9/2}_{2,1}({\Real^{n}})$.

Abstract:We consider the fourth-order Schrodinger equation i partial derivative(t)u + Delta(2)u + mu Delta u + lambda|u|(alpha)u = 0 in H-s(R-N), with N >= 1,lambda is an element of C, mu = +/- 1 or 0, 0 < s < 4, 0 < alpha, and (N - 2s)alpha < 8. We establish the local well-posedness result in H-s(R-N) by applying Banach's fixed-point argument in spaces of fractional time and space derivatives. As a by-product, we extend the existing H-2 local well-posedness results to the whole range of energy subcritical powers and arbitrary lambda is an element of C. Abstract:The local and global well-posedness for the one dimensional fourth-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation are established in the modulation space $M^{s}_{2,q}$ for $s\geq \frac12$ and $2\leq q <\infty$. The local result is based on the $U^p-V^p$ spaces and crucial bilinear estimates. The key ingredient to obtain the global well-posedness is that we achieve a-priori estimates of the solution in modulation spaces by utilizing the power series expansion of the perturbation determinant introduced by Killip-Visan-Zhang for completely integrable PDEs.

Abstract:This note studies the inhomogeneous fourth-order Schrödinger equation Indeed, the local existence of solutions is established in some Sobolev critical spaces . In particular, one considers the mass-critical regime and the energy-critical one . For more efficient way to handle the spatially decaying factor in the nonlinearity, we approach to the matter in a weighted Lebesgue space which seems to be more suitable to perform a finer analysis for this problem. In fact, this way enables to investigate the critical regime which seems to be still an open problem. The method used to prove the existence of energy subcritical local solutions consists on dividing the integrals on the unit ball of and its complementary and use the fact that and , for . This method is no more sufficient to investigate the critical regime. The proof combines a standard fixed point argument with some Strichartz estimates in weighted Lebesgue spaces. This follows the method developed recently (Kim et al. in J Differ Equ 280:179–202, 2021). In a paper in progress, the authors investigate the scattering of global solutions versus the finite time blow-up of nonglobal solutions.

Abstract:For $n\geq 3$, we study the Cauchy problem for the fourth order nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equations, for which the existence of the scattering operators and the global well-posedness of solutions with small data in Besov spaces $B^{s}_{2,1}(\R^n)$ are obtained. In one spatial dimension, we get the global well-posedness result with small data in the critical homogeneous Besov spaces $\dot{B}^{s}_{2,1}$. As a by-product, the existence of the scattering operators with small data is also obtained. In order to show these results, the global version of the estimates for the maximal functions and the local smoothing effects on the fourth order Schr\"{o}dinger semi-groups are established.

Abstract:The local well-posedness with small data in H-s (R-n) (s >= 3 + max(n/2,1(+))) for the Cauchy problem of the fourth order nonlinear Schrodinger equations with the third order derivative nonlinear terms were obtained by Huo and Jia [17]. Abstract:This paper investigates the initial value problem for a system of one-dimensional fourth-order dispersive partial differential-integral equations with nonlinearity involving derivatives up to second order. Examples of the system arise in relation with nonlinear science and geometric analysis. Applying the energy method based on the idea of a gauge transformation and Bona-Smith approximation technique, we prove that the initial value problem is time-locally well-posed on the real line for initial data in a Sobolev space with high regularity.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the initial value problem for a system of one-dimensional fourth-order dispersive partial differential equations on the torus with nonlinearity involving derivatives up to second order. This paper gives sufficient conditions on the coefficients of the system for the initial value problem to be time-locally well-posed in Sobolev spaces with high regularity. The proof is based on the energy method combined with the idea of a gauge transformation and the technique of Bona-Smith type parabolic regularization. The sufficient conditions can been found in connection with geometric analysis on a fourth-order geometric dispersive partial differential equation for curve flows on a compact locally Hermitian symmetric space.

Abstract:We study the global well-posedness of the two-dimensional defocusing fourth-order Schrödinger initial value problem with power type nonlinearities $\vert u\vert^{2k}u$ where $k$ is a positive integer. By using the $I$-method, we prove that global well-posedness is satisfied in the Sobolev spaces $H^{s}(\mathbb{R}^{2})$ for $2-\frac{3}{4k}<s<2$.

Abstract:We get a local existence result in $H^s$ with $s>3/2$ for second order quasilinear wave equation with radial initial data in 2+1 dimensions, based on an improvement of Strichartz estimate in the radial case. Moreover, we get the corresponding local well-posed result for semilinear wave equation. The required index of regularity here is 1/4 less than the index 7/4, which is essentially sharp in general.
