Abstract:Nowadays,low carbon economy has become a hot issue of the whole world.However,the current urban planning has not met the needs of low carbon development in some respects.In light of this,starting from the origins of low carbon economy and urban planning,this article proposes that both low carbon economy and modern urban planning are derived from the industrialization process.The same origin determines their closely linked relationships in social development.Using the methods of comparative study,we analyze the essences of low carbon economy and city,which are obtained through the comparison of the developing requirements of developed and developing countries,a variety of urban planning concepts related.On our opinion,the low carbon city in China should be an integration of low carbon production living and promotion of the new forms of economic.Accordingly,suitable size,compact shape,efficiently-integrated transport system and the promotion of low carbon technologies and policies are proposed as the characteristics of low carbon city closely related to urban planning.On this basis,inconsistencies of current urban planning system and low carbon development are discussed.They are the extension-weighted guiding and methods,the inadequateness of scientificity of planning and management,the guidance-lack of relevant standards and poor coordination of infrastructure construction.According to these,three proposals are given.The first is establishing the system of low carbon urban planning by changing the ideas.The second is innovating methods and contents of urban planning by exploring the ways of low carbon developing.The third is paying attention to the implementation and management of urban planning by studying on the strategy of low carbon development.
