Abstract:Based on the dualism,pursuing the certainty,objectivity and absoluteness of knowledge is the key point of epistemological characteristics of western modernism curriculum theory. Contemporary western curriculum theory attempts to de-construct the legitimacy of modernism epistemology,making the epistemology turn to pluralistic,relative and constructive,and it comes with the re-construction of the methodology of curriculum study. The epistemological turn of contemporary western curriculum theory means the "counterattack" of humanism against scientism,means the re-affirmance of the human being's subject status in the curriculum development,and its theoretical significance is positive. But this kind of turn is short of integration,systematicness and construction,which is easy to cause the loss of the developing direction of curriculum theory,and make the curriculum theory deviate from the education practice.

Abstract:The curriculum reform encounters the cultural tradition by each way,simultaneously the curriculum reform is alsoculturedby each form of the cultural tradition. However,knowing to all does not mean the true knowledge,the curriculum reform neglects and avoids the culture tradition actually in the curriculum goal,the theory resources and the reform resistance and so on. Based on the angle of concerning culture tradition,the author thinks that concerning the culture tradition namely atonement culture tradition weak and resolution culture tradition in curriculum reform resistance should be the objective point and the logical premise for the curriculum reform way.

Abstract:Since the mid-1980s, a global resurgence of large-scale reform in the field of education has been witnessed. Implementing these reforms has created many dilemmas for change leaders. Following a three-year qualitative research project, the present study explores the dilemmas leaders faced during the implementation of the national curriculum reform of senior secondary education in mainland China. The results indicate that those leading the changes of the curriculum reform were placed in a 'trilemma' arising from three conflicting cultural values, namely compliance culture, examination culture, and the new pedagogic culture advocated by the reform. These dilemmas stem from local adaptations in response to global reform trends. Finally, the implications for managing dilemmas in change leadership resulting from the present study are put forward.

Abstract:Culture plays an important role in the process of modernisation and internationalisation. All countries face with the task of cultural transformation in some extent during the process. Chinese culture has an urgent need for a new supply for more respect for individuality, truth-seeking and innovation. Curriculum internationalisation in higher education embodies such culture transformation. Critical thinking is considered as a hidden core curriculum in developed countries and an important means to promote curriculum internationalisation. For Chinese universities and colleges, curriculum internationalisation involves not only science and technology education but also general education, with a special reference to cultural innovation. The article argues that curricular and pedagogical development for critical thinking is an effective means to inherit traditional culture, absorb advanced foreign culture, and manage cultural conflict.

Abstract:In recent years,various creative-talent programs have been issued by all levels of governments,but with little achievement. The reasons of this are directly related to the paradoxes in the domains of moral education,curriculum system,disciplinary construction and administrative mechanism in Chinese educational practice and theories. These paradoxes,then,are caused by the failure in dealing with the relationship between Chinese traditional culture and modern culture in the globalization environment,and thus educational objectives still remain in the stage of "ti-yong segregation" model a hundred years ago. According to the lessons from our history and the experiences from foreign countries,the key to Chinese education modernization is to create "ti-yong consistency" educational objective in the present multi-cultural environment,as well as conformable administrative system,education content and education methods.

Abstract:During these five years, studies of problems in the new curriculum reform in our country are manifold, but these studies are miscellaneous and unsystematic. We lucubrate and systematize these disquisitions, pointing out problems that are referred in these disquisitions. For example, the basic theories are ambiguity, the blueprints are faulty, and traditional culture is absent in the reform project. We also analyze limitations during these studies, for instance, these studies appeare to confuse the official policy and the experts' viewpoints, the angle of view is single. Abstract:The 21st century is the century of globalization and also is the century of education. The new international environment requires universities of the world cultivating their graduates to become global citizens. During the process of cultivating global citizens in different countries, cultural orientation is a core problem. In the postmodern perspective on curriculum, curriculum is not only a carrier of education, but also content. Therefore, culture-choosing of the college curriculum should be the core proposition of cultivating global citizens in universities of varying countries. Modern citizen conception is production of Western culture. Under the tide of globalization, a common global citizen society is based on the idea of liberalism. In this sense, Western civilization is the center and liberal democratic value is a common frame of reference for other cultures. So how to coordinate the relationship between the foreign and native culture, has become one of the main challenges of education in non-Western countries. Based on the connotation of Chinese global citizens, we will take the curriculum as a cutting-in point and put forward a new curriculum paradigm which could combine globalization with localization.
