Abstract:This paper describes the application of asphalt rapid detection technology in Hainan National Highway G360 project, and uses infrared spectrometer to control the quality of base asphalt raw materials and the quality of SBS modified asphalt and modification effect. The infrared spectra of asphalt before and after modification were compared, and the changes of main characteristic functional groups of SBS modified asphalt after aging were analyzed, and the aging performance of SBS modified asphalt was explored according to the changes of its main functional group index. This paper can promote the application of asphalt rapid detection technology in road engineering, and provide some help and inspiration to other colleagues who are faced with high demand for asphalt raw materials and are difficult to ensure the supply of high-quality asphalt.

Abstract:Asphalt pavement with semi-rigid base is the major structure adopted in the new built highway and municipal roads in China. So as to reduce the unfavorable impact on the rehabilitation of municipal roads which require quick resumption of traffic, better base materials should be adopted. If a pavement base fails, the flexible base, i.e. large stone asphalt mixture (LSAM), should be employed in the pavement rehabilitation practice. Focusing on the practice pavement sections using LSAM as base in Hangzhou municipal roads, the effect factors of subgrade modulus, base modulus and base thickness on surface deflection and bending strain in base bottom is analyzed. That work is done through finite element method of software BISAR3.0. The results provide a practice reference for municipal roads rehabilitation needing to open traffic early.

Abstract:In order to study the effectiveness of new type modified asphalt additive SBP on pavement performance of asphalt mixture, the experiments were carried out to evaluate the mixing and compaction temperature, high-temperature stability and water stability of SBP modified asphalt mixture. The high-temperature stability of the SBP modified asphalt mortar was studied by DSR. The heating temperature of mineral aggregate and the asphalt mixture mixing temperature and compacted temperature were determined by three different temperature asphalt mixture SCB test, which were got SGC (Superpave Gyratory Compactor). The wheel tracking test of asphalt mixture was carried to evaluate the high-temperature stability and freeze-thaw split test were studied the water stability. Through the wheel tracking test and water stability test in harsh condition, the high-temperature stability and water stability was evaluated again. It can be concluded that SBP can improve the pavement performances of asphalt mixtures.

Abstract:To study the methods of the low-noise asphalt pavement mixture mix design,the paper design used gradation and optimum asphalt content as the two main design specifications of low-noise asphalt pavement mixture design.The search used the table as aggregate grading design and determined the best asphalt content by comparative analysis of theoretical calculations,flow test and asphalt fell tests.The results showed that:Mixture of air voids resulted in using the table had a good linear correlation with target air void.The way of determining the best asphalt content using flow test is more consistent with actual project and easy to spread.

Abstract:Profile K0+850 was selected as a experimental site in Huzhou-Yaojia bridge section of Shen-Su-Zhe-Wan Highway.By burying essential observation instruments in it,settlements of ground surface,shallow layers and deep layer,horizontal movements of soils,pressure of water,soils and dry jet mixing piles were observed during the filling and preload on the foundation.Mechanism and effect of dry jet mixing piles in highway was studied,and some conclusion of import guidance for design and construction was drawn out.

Abstract:The acceleration of urbanization has promoted the increase in the number of urban highway projects, resulting in an increase of emphasis on the quality of urban highway projects. The quality and safety of highway construction directly affects the driving comfort, safety, and service life after it is put into operation. Among them, asphalt pavement is an important structure in highway construction, and it is also a key link that directly affects the construction quality. In order to ensure the quality of construction, it is necessary to strengthen on-site testing during the construction process to discover problems in time, and to ensure that the construction is up to standard. This paper mainly presents an analysis on the necessity and application of on-site quality inspection technology for asphalt pavement construction of highway engineering, and outlines measures to improve highway engineering construction testing technology.

Abstract:A comprehensive asphalt pavement construction quality control evaluation system and a computer program for this system were developed to improve asphalt pavement construction quality in China. The system was developed on the basis of the uncertainty analytic hierarchy process and used a large amount of data collected from actual asphalt paving construction projects and laboratory test results from various provinces and regions in China. The 33 indices incorporated into the system were selected by a panel of Chinese asphalt pavement experts. The indices included parameters related to materials, equipment, personnel, and the construction process that were deemed important in improving quality and performance of asphalt pavements. Weight factors for each of the 33 indices and the higher-level parameters in the three-level hierarchy system were generated by utilizing the uncertainty concept, which allowed the experts to assign relative importance between any related pairs of indices. The program was able to generate rating scores for asphalt pavement construction quality. Through evaluation of the rating scores among the parameters and indices generated by the system, potential problems in an asphalt pavement construction project could be detected in a timely manner and corrective actions applied to remediate the deficiencies detected by the system. The system, the first of this kind developed for assessing the quality control of asphalt pavement construction in China, has been used to monitor several major asphalt pavement construction projects in the country.

Abstract:An unanticipated sideeffect of China’s developing economy was the increase in heavy road trafficvehicles utilizing high pressure tires on both new and old infrastructure.Today the extent of rutting has become one of the main forms of asphalt road surfacebreakage. To improve the robustness and high temperature properties of roadsurfacing asphalt, a new high-modulus material has been developed and used tomodify normal road petroleum asphalt. The results from laboratory experimentsconducted at the Jiangsu Baoli Asphalt Co., LTD and real road trials inPeople's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Shanghai, Shanxi and Jiangsu provincein China, indicate that the high-modulus asphalt performed significantly betterat higher-temperatures when compared to samples of more commonly used asphaltmixtures. The high-modulus additive (No. ZQ-1) was prepared in Jiangsu BaoliAsphalt Co. LTD, and the basic production process, the basic properties as wellas the effection to base bitumen was analysed in the paper. And the DynamicStability was evaluated using an automated rut-depth measuring system. Thewater stability and low temperature properties were also discussed. Themodified asphalt material has comparable storage and usage costs to existingutilized asphalts though with enhanced high-temperature properties.

Abstract:Stone matrix asphalt and asphalt concrete mixture with 13.2 mm nominal maximum aggregate size (named SMA13 and AC13, respectively) are widely used in the surface course of asphalt pavement in China. Generally, the pavement performance of SMA13 is superior to that of AC13, while the cost of the former is significantly higher than that of the latter. The objective of this paper was to develop a new hot mix asphalt (named SMAC13) whose performance and cost are between SMA13 and AC13. A boundary sieve size (BSS) of 2.36 mm was selected between fine and coarse aggregates. Based on the union set of aggregate gradation ranges of SMA13 and AC13, the family of gradation curves in the forms of S shapes were designed in terms of the BSS passing rate. According to the evaluation of the skeleton interlock of coarse aggregate of the gradation curve family, the aggregate gradation range of SMAC13 was determined. Also, the performance of three kinds of asphalt mixtures were compared through laboratory tests. The results indicated that SMA13 shows the best rutting resistance, followed by SMAC13 then AC13, while in terms of low-temperature performance in resistance to cracking, the sequence is SMAC13, AC13, and SMA13. The sequence of water stability is AC13, SMAC13, and SMA13. Furthermore, the cost of SMAC13 is 25% less than that of SMA13. Therefore, SMAC13 can be used as an alternative for the surface course of asphalt pavement in terms of performance and cost.

Abstract:Aiming at characteristics and special service conditions of certain engineering of widening expressway,performance experiments of types of asphalt mixture for trial sections are carried out.The results indicate that types of asphalt mixture can be further optimized.Based on above research,correctional AC-16 and AC-20 gradation are recommended,the gradations are more excellent than that of trail sections by experiments and economical analyses.In the terms of the overlay time after widening engineering,pavement structure of the widening engineering is recommended.

Abstract:With the continuous development of domestic highway construction, highway civil engineering and servicelevel quality have attracted much attention. Good pavement quality and high-quality service make people feel comfortable and smooth when traveling. High-quality pavement can significantly reduce the probability of traffic accidents. At present, there is a direct relationship between pavement quality and pavement construction operations. Carrying out pavement construction operations in cold high-altitude areas requires a reasonable selection of construction equipment and methods. The application of warm-mix asphalt pavement construction technology can ensure pavement quality. Therefore, this paper analyzes the advantages of warm-mix technology, the environmental characteristics of cold high-altitude areas, and construction preparations, and discusses the construction technology of warm-mix asphalt pavement in cold high-altitude areas in detail, to improve the overall road quality of cold high-altitude areas.

Abstract:The interlayer mechanical properties of composite asphalt pavement structure based on the base surface morphology of a concrete surface, adhesive layer material, working environment, and other factors are complex. As discussed, the field of mass production samples, combined with laboratory shear tests, confirms the rationality of shear test in the composite interlayer shear strength evaluation, presents the composite shear strength test method of the interlayer and corrected maximum interlaminar shear strength calculation formula, further introduces the evaluation method of anti-shear strength of composite pavement, and verifies the feasibility of the method based on the results that should be used for the project compared with the surface by sandblasting and chiseling treatment, adhesive layer material, working temperature, molding method, loading method, degree of pollution, and other factors on the interface shear strength of the adhesive layer. Results indicate that the surface roughness, temperature, test factors of molding methods, loading rate, and interlayer contamination strongly influence the bonding performance between layers and in the construction of the best texture depth value and maximum shear strength between layers. The best interface texture depth is decided by the factor waterproof bonding layer type, interface roughness method, and base geometry node of the base surface. The shear performance of SBS asphalt Synchronous Crushed Stone Seal Coat interlayer sensitivity to temperature is greater than that of polymer reaction-type waterproof adhesive material. The maximum shear strength calculation formula was introduced in the special road section and temperature correction coefficient. The interlayer temperature is 40℃ when the shear strength between layers is the main control index. The calculation results and evaluation index of consistency, shear-stress test method, and system method interlaminar shear strength evaluation can be used for pavement structure design and performance evaluation.
