Study on Germination Inhibitors in Different Parts of American Ginseng Fruit

Abstract:The traditional methods of extraction,isolation and identification for germination inhibitors were improved in the present paper.A strong inhibitor 1,2-benzenediol,for the first time,was identified from American ginseng ( Panax quinquefolium L.)seed with the method of MS (Fig.4).The IC 50 (Inhibitory concentration 50%)of 1,2-benzenediol against the radicle growth of assay plant was 39.81μl/L(Fig.5).At the same time,the reason why the pulp was with the strongest inhibitory activities was demonstrated by the present experiments that the kinds of inhibitors were more and the relative content of these inhibitors were larger in pulp than those in other parts of American ginseng fruit (Table 1,2 and 3).
