Abstract:After over forty years' development in an extraordinary speed, the Internet is confronting profoundly different social and economic environments, with the continuously increasing users demands. However, the essence and key designs of the current Internet have remained untouched during the past decades. Over the same years, Internet users have been calling for a better Internet that features significantly improved flexibility, security, mobility and manageability etc. Entering the twenty-first century, researchers from major economies have paid considerable attention to the design and evaluation of the Future Internet, supported by national large-scale efforts such as FIND (Future Internet Design)([1]) in U. S., FIRE (Future Internet Research & Experimentation)([2]) in EU, AKARI in Japan as well as other research programs. Recognizing the significance of those four expected features mentioned before, this paper states a review of major, significant research programs of the Future Internet and presents a brief indication of possible trends in this field.

Abstract:Current Internet is now facing multiple challenges because of the continuously extending scale and the ever-increasing demands.Especially,information(content) sharing applications such as WWW and P2P have brought tremendous pressure to the Internet and severely affected user experiences,while the ISPs(Internet Server Providers) could do nothing about it.How to make changes on network architectures,protocols and service models to cope with these challenges will be the major trend in future Internet research.Starting from a brief review of the history of Web and statistics of Internet applications,two types of research approaches,namely evolutionary and revolutionary approaches,were presented respectively.Duplicate transmission of same contents consumes large part of bandwidth,thus saving bandwidth and improving the efficiency of content distribution should be the optimization objectives of future Internet research.An on-going project called "asymmetric network architecture for ubiquitous information sharing" was also introduced.This work shows the authors’ vision towards future Internet,that is,the Internet should be able to support information sharing services in a more intelligent and efficient way without bringing heavy traffic.

Abstract:Despite the great success achieved by the Internet,it has been facing increasingly severe technical challenges that include address exhaustion,low-level network security and trustworthiness,weak quality-ofservice control capability,limited bandwidth,and poor support toward mobility.In this paper we summarize the principal challenges facing the current Internet,introduce the research status of the future Internet,analyze the principal design goals of the new generation Internet evaluation methods and models of the present Internet architecture,introduce the research achievements made under the new generation Internet architecture in detail,and propose our next-step research priorities and perspectives in the face of an increasing number of innovative Internet applications.

Abstract:The Internet has become a major part of the global communications infrastructure supporting modern-day socio-economic development, social progress and technological innovation. Invented 30 years ago, today the Internet is facing severe challenges. Many countries have funded research projects on the new-generation Internet, such as GENI, FIND, FIRE and CNGI, in an effort to solve these challenges. In addition, over the past few years, the networking research community has engaged in an ongoing conversation about how to move the Internet forward, and there are now two different approaches towards Internet research. The first approach is based on using the existing Internet architecture to solve the major technical challenges-this is called 'evolutionary' research. The other, which is called the 'clean slate', involves the design of an entirely new Internet architecture. In the first part of this paper, the basic features of the next generation Internet and its principal contradictions are analysed. Then a survey of recent progress in the study of the next generation Internet in China is discussed. Finally, the focus and direction for the next step in research are presented as based on fundamental research into the international next generation Internet architecture, and the many new innovative demands placed on Internet architecture in recent years.

Abstract:IPv6 comprises multiple advanced network technologies and outdoes the current IPv4 with significant advantages,however it takes long to replace IPv4 with IPv6.The key to a successful IPv6 transition is its compatibility with the large installed base of IPv4 users,applications,hosts,routers and devices. To remain compatible with IPv4 in the deployment of IPv6 will streamline the task of IPv6 transition in the Internet.In this paper,we introduce the background of IPv6 transition, analyze and present the strengths and weaknesses of different transition mechanisms and technologies in detail,classify and compare them as well as their applications.With CNGI context,we discussed the inter-network of IPv4 network based on IPv6 backbone.In the end,future trend of possible research on transition mechanisms and technologies is discussed.

Abstract:The development of Internet applications necessitates routers′ability to support those functions such as firewalls,provision of QoS or traffic billing etc.All these functions need classification of packets,based on which it is determined how different packets are processed subsequently.In this article,the authors survey the recent advances in the research of IP classification and introduce some of the typical algorithms.The authors also evaluate three of them in a virtual environment and compare their pros and cons.

Abstract:The current status of the computer network, cable TV network andpublic switched telephone network is analyzed. The integration of the three kinds of networks has become an inevitable trend along with the development of the computer network. Several solutions to that network integration are discussed. Some suggestions are also given about using ATM core network to construct the next generation electric power communication network as a better solution and implementing the IP service by multiple protocol label switching (MPLS) technique.

Abstract:As the demands on the size,functionality,performance and other aspects of Internet keep increasing,current Internet which using IPv4 as the core technology is facing severe technical challenges.In recent years,next-generation Internet and its applications has gained the particular concerns of many countries,and the developed countries have launched the national next-generation Internet research projects intended to seize the core technology of future Internet.National Basic Program of China(973 Program) Research of Future Internet Architecture,after nearly five years of research,made the preliminary findings in exploring the basic issues of new-generation Internet architecture: Refined four basic scientific questions of new-generation Internet architecture,preliminarily proposed multi-dimension scalable architecture of new-generation Internet and its basic elements,extended in-depth study of new-generation Internet architecture to the expansion of five multi-dimension aspects,such as the scale-scalability based on IPv6,performance-scalability based on scalable exchange node,security-scalability based on authentic IPv6 addressing,function-scalability based on 4over6 mechanism,and service-scalability based on end-to-end connectionless Quality-of-Service control.These five basic elements will form the basis of new-generation Internet.

Abstract:Transition to IPv6 has been recognized as the trend of future Internet. Since a huge amount of resources have been invested on current IPv4-based Internet, how to smoothly transit the Internet from IPv4 to IPv6 is a very important research topic. Abstract:Combination of the exponential growth of Internet and the explosive increase of wireless Internet marks the trend-an increasing demand for wireless Internet. This work discusses next generation wireless Internet, mainly focusing on the next generation cellular mobile system 4G (4th Generation), WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network)/WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network) for future, and IPv6 backbone of future network. For 4G, its definition and features are discussed, also some of its trends are presented after the example of NTT DoCoMo's success and the analyses of competition of i-mode vs. WAP. For WLAN/WPAN, some standards and specifications, such as IEEE802.11, IEEE802.15, homeRF, HIPERLAN2, Bluetooth, etc., are compared and some prospects are proposed. For IPv6 backbone, its advantages and the way to realize it are considered. The paper concludes with some tendencies worldwide from the viewpoint of technology and market.

Abstract:The current Internet, which is based on TCP/IP architecture, exposed its inherent shortcomings increasingly in recent years, such as: network management is difficult to deploy, network security issues become more serious, "best effort forwarding" strategy cannot provide QoS that a user needs, and new applications are difficult to deploy, etc. All of these problems cannot be resolved satisfactorily by "putting-patch" way. It is time to redesign and reconstruct the architecture of Internet. Now some new design ideas about future Internet architecture have been put forward. In this paper, some representatives of these ideas are introduced, and their advantages and defects are analyzed. After these analyses, the possible direction for future Internet design in our opinion is pointed out.

Abstract:Two different network architectures are discussed in this paper:transmission control protocol (TCP)/IP and delay-and disruption-tolerant networking (DTN) for future integrated space and terrestrial information network (ISTIN) in China. A simple space backhaul network consisted of 3 geostationary orbit (GEO) satel ites is analyzed and categorized as 3 basic transmission scenarios, in which the chal enges for network architecture are stated. Computer emulations are conducted to study the transmission performance of different protocols. The results show that although TCP-Hypla and DTN both have better performance compared to the classical terrestrial TCP, with high dynamic delays and bit error rate (BER), no protocol is always optimal in transmission performance throughout different scenarios. The performance of network architectures of ISTIN should be improved further.

Abstract:The TCP/IP based internet had evolved into an important infrastructure for current information society.However,with the rapid growth of network traffic and the appearance of various emerging applications,the existing network architecture had become increasingly prominent in all aspects.Analyzing and clearing the performance needs of emerging Web applications could provide a clearer direction for the research on network architecture.The application scenarios of typical future network applications were analyzed such as immersive experience applications,IoT applications,tactile internet applications and intelligent transportation applications.The future network applications’ requirements for future networks were summarized,and key network performance indicators were derived.

Abstract:This paper explores the current state of intellectual property protection in China and its future development trends, aiming to analyze the legal framework, policy implementation, and judicial practices in this field to reveal the challenges and opportunities faced. Through literature review and case analysis, the study systematically examines the impact of technological innovation on intellectual property protection, comparative international experiences, and future development trends. Key findings include: the continuous improvement of legal regulations, but the growing influence of technological changes on intellectual property protection, such as the new challenges and demands brought by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and blockchain; at the same time, international cooperation plays a crucial role in enhancing the level of intellectual property protection. The study suggests future policy recommendations including further optimization of the legal framework, strengthening the coordination between technological innovation and intellectual property protection, and promoting international intellectual property cooperation to address complex challenges in the global context. This paper provides valuable insights and strategic measures for advancing the development of China's intellectual property protection system and implementing the country's innovation-driven development strategy.
