Intra-arterial Chemotherapy Followed by Radical Hysterectomy for Massive Cervical Cancer in stage ⅠB-ⅡB

Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy possibility of the intra arterial chemotherapy followed by radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer.Methods:All patients underwent radical hysterectomy after bilateral internal iliac artery infusion of cisplatin 、5 Fu、,and AT1258 were administered for 1 3 courses separated by 3 weeks. Results:The total response rate was 96.2%. Complete response(CR) was achieved in 17 of 53 patients(32.1% ); while a partial response(PR) was noted in 34(64.2%); no change in 2(3.9%) and no patient had progressive disease.No patient had lymphnode metastasi in CR. All 17 patients with CR were living free of disease. 6 patients with pelvic lymphnode metastasis were all found to have PR. But 1 in 34 patients with PR died and 2 patients with NC had pelvic lymphnode metastasis and died.There were no severe complications related to intra arterial chemotherapy and radical hysterectomy.Conclusion:Intra arterial chemotherapy before operation can shrink tumor size, decrease the lymphnode astasis.It is helpful in elevating the survival rate of patients with massive cervical cancer.
