Analysis on the Situation of the Vulnerabilities to HIV/AIDS among Rural Out-of-school Adolescents

Abstract:Objective To analysis on the present situation of the HIV/AIDS vulnerabilities among rural out-of-school adolescents. Methods Anonymous structural questionnaires were adopted to investigate 1 654 out-of-school adolescents aged 15-24 in a labor training and exporting institution of a county in China from August 2007 to December 2007. Results The subjects′ main educational level is junior school, and 52.1 % (841/1 615) of their recreational activities is in the Internet Bar. 51.9 % (697/1 343) of the subjects are lack of proper attitude towards HIV/AIDS related risk behaviors. 10.6 % (169/1 599) of the out-of-school adolescents have premarital sex, and among which, 30.5 % (51/167) had multi-sex partners and only 38.5 % used condom in their latest sex. 5.5 % (89/1 632) of the subjects had used drugs, and the subjects′ psychological health level was lower than the normal. Conclusion The rural out-of-school adolescents need more attention from the society, and their HIV/AIDS vulnerabilities are affected by a series of integrative physical, psychological and social factors.
