Abstract:Three lignans were isolated from the aerial parts of Polygonum orientale L. Their structures were elucidated as arctiin (1),lappaol B (2),orientalin (3) by means of the spectral data and chemical methods. Among them, 3 is a novel compound,compounds 1 and 2 were first found in this plant.

Abstract:Two new neolignans, manneoinsigins A (1) and B (2), together with four known lignans, were isolated from the leaves and stems of Manglietia insignis. The new compounds were established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses. All compounds except 2 were tested for their cytotoxic activity. Compound 3 showed weak cytotoxic activity against the HL-60 human tumor cell line with the IC50 value of 23.5 µM.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation of the roots of Syringa pinnatifolia has resulted in the isolation of a new lignan, pinnatifolin A (1), together with seven known compounds (2-8). The structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods, including NMR, MS, UV and IR spectra. The seven lignans were screened for their antioxidant activity (DPPH assay), and most of them showed potent antioxidant activity.

Abstract:To investigate the chemical compounds from the rhizome of Stellera chamaejasme, nine lignans, including stellerachamin A (1), 8-hydroxypluviatolide (2), wikstromol (3), pinoresinol (4), matairesinol (5), dextrobursehernin (6), hinokinin(7), (-)-glaberide I (8) and （-） medioresinol (9) were isolated by various chromatographic methods. Their structures were extensively determined on basis of MS and NMR spectroscopic data analysis. Among them, compound 1 was a new lignan, and compounds 2 and 7 were isolated from Thymelaeaceae for the first time.

Abstract:This project is to investigate lignans from the dried fruits of Xanthium sibiricum (Xanthii Fructus). The chemical constituents were extract by 70% ethanol and isolated by silica gel, ODS, Sephadex LH-20, MCI column chromatography. Abstract:The aim of this study was to characterize hydrolyzable tannins in Polygonaceous plants, as only a few plants have previously been reported to contain ellagitannins. From Persicaria chinensis, a new hydrolyzable tannin called persicarianin was isolated and characterized to be 3-O-galloyl-4,6-(S)-dehydrohexahydroxydiphenoyl-d-glucose. Interestingly, acid hydrolysis of this compound afforded ellagic acid, despite the absence of a hexahydroxydiphenoyl group. From the rhizome of Polygonum runcinatum var. sinense, a large amount of granatin A, along with minor ellagitannins, helioscpoinin A, davicratinic acids B and C, and a new ellagitannin called polygonanin A, were isolated. Based on 2D nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic examination, the structure of polygonanin A was determined to be 1,6-(S)-hexahydroxydiphenoyl-2,4-hydroxychebuloyl-β-d-glucopyranose. These are the second and third hydrolyzable tannins isolated from Polygonaceous plants. In addition, oligomeric proanthocyanidins of Persicaria capitatum and P. chinensis were characterized by thiol degradation. These results suggested that some Polygonaceous plants are the source of hydrolyzable tannins not only proanthocyanidins.

Abstract:Objective:To study the isolation and identification of lignans from the extracts of Acanthopanax ses-siliflorus fruits .Methods:The structures of these compounds were elucidated by NMR and MS spectroscopic a -nalysis.Results:These compounds were identified as syringaresinol -4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), liriodendrin (2), medioresinol-di-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (3), pinoresinol-4,4′-di-O-β-D-glucoside (4), pinoresinol-4-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), (7S, 8R) -urolignoside (6), neociwu-jiaphenol (7).Conclusion:Compounds 3,5 and 6 are isolated from Genus Acanthopanax for the first time .

Abstract:A novel benzofuran derivative (R)-(+)-Ligulaodonin A (1) and a new olean-12-ene triterpene (5), as well as 10 known compounds were isolated from the whole plant of Ligularia odontomanes HAND.-MAZZ. The structures of the new compounds were determined by spectroscopic evidence, including IR, UV, EI-MS, positive HR-ESI-MS, 1D-NMR and 2D-NMR. The absolute configuration of 1 was elucidated on the basis of circular dichroism (CD) data.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation into the bark of Tsuga longibracteata led to the isolation of three lignans (1–3), two triterpenoids (4, 5), nine flavonoids (6−14), three sterols (15–17) and five phenolic acids (18–22). Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis of their spectral data with those reported in literature. Among them, compounds 1–3, 6–22 were obtained from this species for the first time. The chemotaxonomic significance of the isolated compounds is discussed.

Abstract:Six new lignans (2-7) were isolated from the bark of Larix olgensis var. koreana, and their structures were determined on the basis of their spectroscopic data. Seven known lignans were also obtained and identified as (+)-lariciresinol 9'-p-coumarate (1), (+)-lariciresinol, (-)-secoisolariciresinol, (+)-isolariciresinol, vladinol D, sesquipinsapol B, and ehletianol C. Compound 1 showed weak inhibition against K562, SHG44, HCT-8, A549, and PC-3M tumor cells with IC50 values of 2.9, 21.4, 32.9, 33.8, and 28.0 mu g/mL, respectively.

Abstract:Twenty-two compounds, including five homoisoflavanones (1–3, 7 and 8), three isoflavones (9–11), flavone glycoside (19), one triterpenoid aglycon (5), two steroidal sapogenins (4, 6), five steroidal saponins (12, 13, 20–22), three lignanoids (14, 17 and 18) and two fatty acids (15 and 16) were isolated from the rhizomes of Polygonatum odoratum. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods and by comparison of the reported spectral data. Additionally, the relationships between this plant and other species from Liliaceae family have also been discussed on the basis of the given compounds.
