Ethical Analysis on the Loss of Hospital Volunteers and Countermeasures

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the reasons for the hospital volunteer loss,methods for volunteer management,and to improve the long effectiveness of volunteer services.Method:Using an anonymous self-administered questionnaire by email.A total of 268 copies of questionnaires were sent,268 were received and 170 were effective,the effective rate was 63.4%.Result:38.5% of the volunteers were influenced by the "environmental factors";34.5% were out of self-interest motivation;only 15.2% participated in volunteer service in order to "to help people in need".40% of the loss of social volunteers' attention to the volunteer service was "general";"Very attention" only accounted for 14.1%;57.4% of the loss believed that the impact reason for volunteers to participate the hospital volunteer service was the "conflicts with life,work or study";7.9% of the loss thought their "knowledge and skills were not be fully used";7.6% of the volunteers had no sense of belonging in volunteer service.Conclusion:Countermeasures should be taken on multiple levels based on ethics,such as combining self-interest and altruism,setting up the code of ethics for hospital volunteer service,cultivating hospital voluntary spirit and concept etc,in order to promote and realize the sustainable development of the hospital volunteer service.
