Abstract:Polysiloxane is being used extensively in many fields for its good physical and chemical performance.This paper reviews the synthesis progress of polysiloxane,focusing on the anionic induced ring opening polymerization.Then the applications of polysiloxane are also summarized.

Abstract:The structure, properties, synthesis of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) were reviewed. Monofunctional, difunctional and multifunctional POSS, which can be easily incorporated into common plastics via copolymerization, grafting, or blending to form truly inorganic/organic hybrid nanostructural composites, were mainly discussed. Finally, the development trends of POSS were put forward.

Abstract:Self-assembled films have been extensively concerned in recent years.As a very important organic assembling materials,(poly)siloxane has been widely used for preparation of self-assembled films.The important results of assembled films prepared by(poly)siloxane in recent years are summarized.The assembly mechanism and app-lications in fine sensors,surface treatment,protein adsorption control and disease monitoring,tribology and superhydrophobic surface of the films are reviewed.Finally,the development trends and application prospect of the films are also given.
Synthesis of Polyether-grafted Polysiloxanes and Its Application in Metal Cleanser

Abstract:Polyether-grafted polysiloxanes was synthesized under microwave irradiation from methyl hydrogen silicone polyoxyethylene polyoxypropylene acetate.The optimum reaction conditions were ascertained as follows:radiation power of 600 W,the molar ratio of polyether to silicone of 1.2∶1,amount of chloroplatinic acid catalyst 10 mg/kg(calculate by Pt) and 40 min microwave irradiation.Under the optimum conditions,the average conversion ratio was 94.7%.The structure of the sample was analyzed and characterized by method of FTIR and 1HNMR.Polyether-grafted polysiloxanes was used to produce antifoaming agent and applied in metal cleanser.The results show that the antifoaming agent demonstrates superior antifoaming performance and washing effect with better stability.

Abstract:The direct synthesis of organosilicon monomer (methylchlorosilane) is the key and foundation stone of the global silicone industry. The advances in methylchlorosilane synthesis in past few years are reviewed, including raw materials, promoters and technological process. The raw silicon is evaluated quantitatively and characterized with morphology in order to uncover the mechanism of the reaction. In the discussion, focus is laid on the use of catalytic promotion for the graduation of quaternary form of it into the catalytic promotion of CuZnSnSiP for improving the selectivity of dimethyldichlorosilane, production rate of methylchlorosilane, and silicon utilization. Finally, the development trends of the direct synthesis of methylchlorosilanes are pointed out.
Organosilicon‐functionalized Polyolefins, a Kind of Designable and Versatile Polymer: from Preparation to Applications

Abstract:Functionalization of polyolefins has been a challenging but promising issue since their invention, with the promise of retaining inherent properties and overcoming the low reactivity and poor compatibility. Organosilicons are widely used for polymer modification to improve thermal stability, hydrophobicity, compatibility, and permeability. Since the advent of alkoxysilane-grafted polyethylene in 1960s, organosilicon-functionalized polyolefins (Si-PO) have been extensively prepared, investigated, and developed. The structure of Si-PO is designable due to the flexible chemistry of organosilicons; crosslinked, long chain branched, and star-shaped polyolefins are available after the introduction of alkoxysilanes, chlorosilanes, hyrdosilanes, or alkylsilanes into polyolefins, and generally these polymers are more compatible to fillers than commercial polyolefins due to stronger interaction. In addition, functionalization of polyolefins with stable organosilicon components such as polysiloxane and polysilsesquioxane can improve thermostability, hydrophobicity, gas permeability, and aging resistance; such polyolefins are usually grafted or block polymers. In this review, Si-PO is classified according to the functional organosilicon component, namely alkoxysilane, chlorosilane, hydrosilane, alkylsilane, polysiloxane, and polysilsesquioxane; their preparations are discussed minutely and summarized with manifold examples. Silicon-containing structures impart the unique properties of organosilicons to polyolefins; applications of Si-PO as compatibilizers, processing aids, battery separators, and separating membranes have been widely reported and are discussed here.

Abstract:Aqueous polysiloxane-polyurethane block copolymer was synthesized by two-step method,and the influence of the siloxane content in the block copolymer on mechanical properties,thermal properties,hardness,and surface contact angle was also studied.It is found that,as the siloxane content in the copolymer increases,the tensile strength and the modulus increases,while elongation at break decreases first and then increases.The thermal stability is also enhanced with the addition of polysiloxane segment.The surface contact angle increases with the increase of the siloxane content,which results in good water resistance for the system.

Abstract:Poly[methyl(trifluoropropyl)siloxane] (PMTFPS) which exhibits superior fuel-and solvent-resistance may be obtained by the anionic ring-opening polymerization(ROP) of F_3, but the backbiting' and redistribution side reactions occurs during the polymerization. To produce high molecular weight and high yield fluorosiloxane polymeric materials, careful control of the polymerization conditions is essential. The factors, mechanism, kinetics of the anionic ROP of F_3 in bulk, in solution or in miniemulsion, and the progress in copolymerization of F_3 with other vinyl monomers were summarized in this paper.

Abstract:gen-containing silicone fluid as material; while polyoxyalkylene was prepared with propenol as initiator and sodium hydroxide as catalyst; then polyoxyalkylene was used to the graft modification of the low hydrogen-containing silicone fluid. The polyether-modified polysiloxane was synthesized with octamethylcyclotetra-siloxane(D_4) and high hydrogen-containing polyhydrosiloxanes as materials. The highly active defoaming agent was made by the modified polyether-polysiloxane as material and the proper emulsifier.

Abstract:This paper reviewed the research progress of the synthesis and properties of fluorosili-cone rubber.The anionic bulk ring-opening polymerization,ring-opening copolymerization and conden-sation polymerization of fluorosilicone rubber were introduced respectively.Some new catalysts such as rare earth solid superacid for the polymerization of fluorosilicone rubber and the blending of fluorosili-cone rubber and silicone rubber were elaborated.The effects of aviation fuel,acid medium,high-tem-perature thermal air aging,plasma and gamma radiation on the properties of fluorosilicone rubber were discussed.The development of fluorosilicone rubber was prospected.

Abstract:The exceptional physicochemical and mechanical properties have enabled siloxane-based materials a wide range of applications in daily life and industry. With the rapid progress of emerging technologies requiring high-performance polymeric materials, the inherent characteristics of traditional silicones led them to insufficient mechanical toughness, poor interfacial adhesion, and lacking recyclability. Such problems have recently been tackled by the implementation of a dynamic design into siloxane-based materials. Based on diverse non-covalent interactions and dynamic covalent bonds, the derived dynamic siloxane materials show reasonable mechanical tunability, high interfacial bonding, stimuli-responsiveness, self-healing ability, and reprocessability. Here, recent advances that highlight issues relating to the necessity-driven molecular engineering of dynamic siloxane materials for emerging engineering applications are reviewed. Specifically, the molecular structures of dynamic polysiloxanes are summarized to emphasize their effect on regulating the materials performance. Whereafter examples of the application of dynamic siloxane materials are given in diverse fields from energy and electronic devices, actuators to antifouling surfaces. Finally, the promising developments and facing challenges of dynamic siloxane materials are proposed.

Abstract:The progress of study on synthesizing SiO2/polymer nanocomposite emulsion was reviewed.The major topic concerns some kinds of SiO2 materials and the synthetic mechanisms and methods of SiO2/Polymer nanocomposite emulsion.SiO2/polymer nanocomposite emulsion can be prepared through electrostatic interactions,adsorption intermedium,grafting and coupling mechanism.Blending,sol-gel,emulsion polymerization and dispersion polymerization are the common ways to prepare this nanocomposite emulsion.Futher more,the study emphases,developable directions and applications of the SiO2/polymer nanocomposite emulsion in the fields of paints,adhesive and plastic modifying were summarized.

Abstract:The rapid development in aerospace, automobile, and chemical industry has put forward demands on polymeric materials which are able to maintain their structures and performance at high temperatures. Carborane-siloxane polymers are one of the candidates suitable for applications under harsh environments and have been widely investigated. This review introduces the recent advances, synthesis routes and properties of carborane-siloxane polymers. The origin and future potentials are all presented. The main characteristics and practical applications are also described.
