Abstract:OBJECTIVE To explore the distribution and resistance of bacteria isolated from central nervous system.METHODS The Disc diffusion test,MIC test and E-test were used to detect the antimicrobial sensitivity of bacterial isolates.WHONET 5.4 was applied for analyzing the bacterial sensitive data from Mohnarin member hospitals in China from Jan1 to Dec 31,2008.RESULTS A total of 1181 strains of bacteria were isolated from cerebral spinalfluid(CSF) in 48 hospitals, including 679 (57.5%) Gram positive strains and 502(42.5%) Gram-negative strains.Coagulase-negative staphylococci(372),Staphylococcus aureus(143),Enterococcus(91) and Streptococcus(51) were the most common Gram positive bacteria, while Escherichia coli(113),Acinetobacter(111),Klebsiella(85) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa(43) were the most common Gram-negative bacteria. The detected rates of the meticillin-resistant S.aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci were 70.5% and 74.3%,respectively.Vancomycin-resistant S.aureus coagulase negcfive Staphylococcus and were not detected. Some teicoplanin-resistant Enterococcus faecium were detected. The ESBLs producing rates of E.coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae were 59.3% and 46.1%,respectively.CONCLUSION Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus are the predominant bacteria in central nervous system infection in China, the rate of Acinetobacter from surgical patients is higher than that from internal medical patients. The proportion of Gram-positive bacteria in pediatric patients is higher than that in adults. The incidence of MRSA from CSF and the rates of the ESBLs producing E.coli and K.pneumoniae are higher than the overall level at the same period.
