Abstract:In this paper and its successor, we make an application of the hyperboloidal foliation method in [Formula: see text] space-time dimension. After the establishment of some technical tools in this paper, we will prove further the global existence of small regular solution to a class of hyperbolic system composed by a wave equation and a Klein–Gordon equation with null couplings. Our method belongs to vector field method and, more precisely, is a combination of the normal form and the hyperboloidal foliation method.

Abstract:In this article we will develop some techniques aimed at the strong couplings in two-dimensional wave-Klein-Gordon system. We distinguish the roles of different type of decay factors and develop a method which permits us to “exchange” one type of decay into the other. Then a global existence result of a model problem is established. We also give a sketch of the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov model system and establish the associate global existence result.

Abstract:In this paper we prove a global existence result for nonlinear Klein–Gordon equations in infinite homogeneous waveguides, R×M, with smooth small data, where M=(M,g) is a Zoll manifold, or a compact revolution hypersurface. The method is based on normal forms, eigenfunction expansion and the special distribution of eigenvalues of the Laplace–Beltrami on such manifolds.

Abstract:In this paper we establish the global stability on a type of totally geodesic wave maps and the Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system in R2+1. Both systems belong to a special type of wave-Klein-Gordon system which has its strong coupling terms in divergence form. We cope with the problems by constructing auxiliary systems with the shifted primitives of the original unknowns. This permits us to reveal some hidden structures about Hessian form and null form and then establish the global stability.

Abstract:The global solution for a coupled nonlinear Klein-Gordon system in two-dimensional space was studied. First, a sharp threshold of blowup and global existence for the system was obtained by constructing a type of cross-constrained variational problem and establishing so-called cross-invariant manifolds of the evolution flow. Then the result of how small the initial data for which the solution exists globally was proved by using the scaling argument.

Abstract:We provide a significant extension of the Hyperboloidal Foliation Method introduced by the authors in 2014 in order to establish global existence results for systems of quasilinear wave equations posed on a curved space, when wave equations and Klein-Gordon equations are coupled. This method is based on a (3+1) foliation (of the interior of a future light cone in Minkowski spacetime) by spacelike and asymptotically hyperboloidal hypersurfaces. In the new formulation of the method, we succeed to cover wave-Klein-Gordon systems containing "strong interaction" terms at the level of the metric, and then generalize our method in order to establish a new existence theory for the Einstein equations of general relativity. Following pioneering work by Lindblad and Rodnianski on the Einstein equations in wave coordinates, we establish the nonlinear stability of Minkowski spacetime for self-gravitating massive scalar fields.

Abstract:Consider a quasi-linear system of two Klein–Gordon equations with masses m1, m2. We prove that when m1≠2m2 and m2≠2m1, such a system has global solutions for small, smooth, compactly supported Cauchy data. This extends a result proved by Sunagawa (J. Differential Equations 192 (2) (2003) 308) in the semi-linear case. Moreover, we show that global existence holds true also when m1=2m2 and a convenient null condition is satisfied by the nonlinearities.

Abstract: The Hyperboloidal Foliation Method presented in this monograph is based on a (3+1)-foliation of Minkowski spacetime by hyperboloidal hypersurfaces. It allows us to establish global-in-time existence results for systems of nonlinear wave equations posed on a curved spacetime and to derive uniform energy bounds and optimal rates of decay in time. We are also able to encompass the wave equation and the Klein-Gordon equation in a unified framework and to establish a well-posedness theory for nonlinear wave-Klein-Gordon systems and a large class of nonlinear interactions. The hyperboloidal foliation of Minkowski spacetime we rely upon in this book has the advantage of being geometric in nature and, especially, invariant under Lorentz transformations. As stated, our theory applies to many systems arising in mathematical physics and involving a massive scalar field, such as the Dirac-Klein-Gordon system. As it provides uniform energy bounds and optimal rates of decay in time, our method appears to be very robust and should extend to even more general systems.

Abstract: In this paper we established the global well-posedness theorem for a special type of wave-Klein-Gordon system that have the strong coupling terms in divergence form on the right hand side of its wave equation. We cope with the problem by constructing an auxiliary system with the shifted primitives of the original unknowns. The result is then applied directly on Klein-Gordon-Zakharov system in 2+1 space-time with general small-localized-regular initial data. In the end of this paper, we also give a preliminary answer to the question of global stability of a class of totally geodesic the wave maps in 2+1 dimensional case.
The Euclidian-hyperboidal foliation method and the nonlinear stability of Minkowski spacetime

Abstract: We introduce a new method for analyzing nonlinear wave-Klein-Gordon systems and establishing global-in-time existence results for the Cauchy problem when the initial data need not have compact support. This method, which we call the Euclidian-Hyperboidal Foliation Method (EHFM), relies on the construction of a spacetime foliation obtained by glueing together asymptotically Euclidian and asymptotically hyperboloidal hypersurfaces. Well-chosen frames of vector fields (null-semi-hyperboloidal, Euclidian-hyperboloidal) allow us to exhibit the structure of the equations under consideration and analyze the decay of solutions in timelike and in spacelike directions. New Sobolev inequalities for Euclidian-hyperboloidal foliations involving the Killing fields of Minkowski spacetime (but not the scaling field), as well as pointwise bounds for wave and Klein-Gordon equations on curved spacetimes are established. Our bootstrap argument involves a hierarchy of (almost sharp) energy and pointwise bounds and distinguishes between low- and high-order derivatives of the solutions. We apply this method to the Einstein equations when the matter model is a massive field and the methods by Christodolou and Klainerman and by Lindblad and Rodnianski do not apply.

Abstract:We consider general semilinear, multispeed Klein-Gordon systems in space dimension two with some non-degeneracy conditions. We prove that with small initial data such solutions are always global and scatter to a linear solution. This result partly extends the previous result obtained by Deng, who completely proved the 3D quasilinear case. To prove our result, we mainly work on Fourier side and explore the contribution from the vicinity of space-time resonaonce.

Abstract:We are interested in the Klein–Gordon–Zakharov system in ℝ^1+2 , which is an important model in plasma physics with extensive mathematical studies. The system can be regarded as semilinear coupled wave and Klein–Gordon equations with nonlinearities violating the null conditions. Without the compactness assumptions on the initial data, we aim to establish the existence of small global solutions, and in addition, we want to illustrate the optimal pointwise decay of the solutions. Furthermore, we show that the Klein–Gordon part of the system enjoys linear scattering, while the wave part has uniformly bounded low-order energy. None of these goals is easy because of the slow pointwise decay nature of the linear wave and Klein–Gordon components in ℝ^1+2 . We tackle the difficulties by carefully exploiting the properties of the wave and the Klein–Gordon components, and by relying on the ghost weight energy estimates to close higher order energy estimates. This appears to be the first pointwise decay result and the first scattering result for the Klein–Gordon–Zakharov system in ℝ^1+2 without compactness assumptions.
Global well-posedness of a two dimensional wave-Klein-Gordon system with small non-compactly supported data

Abstract:In this paper we are interested in the coupled wave and Klein-Gordon equations in $\mathbb{R}^+\times\mathbb{R}^2$. We want to establish the global well-posedness of such system by showing the uniform boundedness of the energy for the global solution without any compactness assumptions on the initial data. In addition, we also demonstrate the pointwise asymptotic behavior of the solution pair. In order to achieve that we apply a modified Alinhac's ghost weight method together with a newly developed normal-form framework to remedy the lack of the space-time scaling vector field. Finally we show the global solutions scatter linearly strongly for the Klein-Gordon field $\phi$ and weakly for the wave field $n$ as $t\to+\infty$. To our best knowledge such scattering phenomenon is novel in the literature.

Abstract:We show that the solution to the semi-linear Klein–Gordon equation on the circle with a nonlinearity satisfying a convenient condition, exists almost globally, for almost every positive mass, provided that it is either even or odd as a function of the space variable. We also show, that if the nonlinearity is independent of the space derivative of the unknown and if it is also even as a function of the time derivative, then the solution exists almost globally, for almost every positive mass. The results are based on the method of normal forms. The difficulty is to find a structure of the nonlinearity so that the process of normal forms can be performed up to any order.
