Abstract:This paper provides an approach in the context of green supply chain management, using game theory to analyze the strategies selected by manufacturers to reduce life cycle environmental risk of materials and carbon emissions. Through the application of the ‘tolerability of risk’ concept, a basis for determining the extent of environmental risk and carbon emissions reduction has been established. Currently, scant attention is given to holistic supervision of the supply chain with respect to carbon emissions by governments, and thus the starting hypothesis here is that the default strategy that manufacturers will adopt is only to reduce carbon emissions, and thereby environmental risk, in so far as this is compatible with the aim of increasing revenue. Moreover, we further hypothesize that, once necessary governmental policy has been established in the supply chain management, the strategic choices of the manufacturers would be influenced by government penalties or incentives. A case example is provided to demonstrate the insight that indicates the application of game theory. The limitations of the game model and analysis are discussed, laying a foundation for further work.

Abstract:This study investigates the relationship between environmental performance and corporate risk-taking in China. Using the sample from China between 2010 and 2016, we find that corporate risk-taking is negatively associated with their environmental performance. Compared to non-state-owned firms, this association is more pronounced in state-owned firms. More equity incentives, higher independent director proportion, and higher institutional ownership are found to weaken this relationship. We further document that active environmental behavior (e.g. mature environmental management and more green innovation) alleviate this negative relationship. These conclusions remain valid after a series of robustness tests and endogeneity tests.

Abstract:Risk factors have a significant influence on corporate investing and financing behavior. Based on agency theory, this paper analyzes conflicts of interest that are involved in the process of corporate investing and financing under the influence of risk, and it conducts this analysis using the evolutionary game model for investing and financing behavior. The evolutionary simulation analysis is conducted using the system dynamics method to explore the investing and financing behavior of corporate entities that are influenced by different risks. The results of this analysis show that the risks that impact the debt financing strategies of corporations are usually investment risk and interest rate risk, and that internal governance risk does not appear to change the financing structure of corporate behavior. Risks that impact the excessive investment strategy choices of corporations are mainly investment risk and internal governance risk, while interest rate risk does not appear to have any effect on the excessive investment tendencies of certain managers.

Abstract:By analyzing the competition between electronic product manufacturers and retailers in pricing, a dynamic game model is constructed. Using backward induction, the optimal choices and maximum profits under equilibrium conditions are determined. Finally, the constructed model is subjected to data simulation by setting numerical values for relevant parameters to analyze the effects of environmental emission reduction value on the supply chain and the information sharing value of each member. The following conclusions are drawn: when the emission reduction efficiency of manufacturers or the sensitivity of the market to environmental protection is high, the improvement effect of information sharing will outweigh its bilateral marginal effect. Retailers will voluntarily share all demand information and achieve a win-win situation in the supply chain.

Abstract:The classification, investigation, and management of the safety risk (namely, risk-hazard double pre-control management mechanism) in coal mines were introduced into a behavioral evolution game to assess the decision-making processes of coal mine workers, regulators, and supervisors. A tripartite game tree and a revenue perception matrix were constructed, and the evolutionary stability strategy (ESS) achieved by the evolutionary system under different conditions was obtained according to the replication dynamic equation (RD). The numerical simulation of the evolution game was conducted in MATLAB, which verified the influence of various parameters on the behaviors adopted by all parties. The results show: (1) When the safety, regulatory, and supervisory costs are high, the average expected value of mine workers, regulators, and supervisors to choose safety behaviors is low, so they adopt an unsafe behavior. By contrast, reducing costs can encourage the adoption of safety behaviors. (2) When the punishment for accident losses caused by unsafe behavior and the lack of regulations and supervision is higher than 50% of the initial state, the actors in the tripartite game are more inclined to avoid risks when facing cost losses in the short term, which can lead them to choose a safety behavior. (3) When the actors in the tripartite game face different accident probabilities and accident loss, with the severity of the accident increasing to 80% of the initial state, mine workers and regulators gradually adopt safety and regulation behaviors, and supervisors quickly adopt supervision methods.

Abstract:The game-theoretic risk management framework put forth in the precursor reports "Towards a Theory of Games with Payoffs that are Probability-Distributions" (arXiv:1506.07368 [q-fin.EC]) and "Algorithms to Compute Nash-Equilibria in Games with Distributions as Payoffs" (arXiv:1511.08591v1 [q-fin.EC]) is herein concluded by discussing how to integrate the previously developed theory into risk management processes. To this end, we discuss how loss models (primarily but not exclusively non-parametric) can be constructed from data. Furthermore, hints are given on how a meaningful game theoretic model can be set up, and how it can be used in various stages of the ISO 27000 risk management process. Examples related to advanced persistent threats and social engineering are given. We conclude by a discussion on the meaning and practical use of (mixed) Nash equilibria equilibria for risk management.

Abstract:Carbon emission reduction, an effective way to facilitate carbon neutrality, has gained increasing attention in government policy and scientific research. However, the establishment of a sustainable carbon emission reduction market is a complex game between governments and enterprises. In addition, it is difficult to obtain precise evaluations of the political and environmental factors in most cases. Irrational enterprises with a profit-seeking nature bring challenges to the strategy selection. To bridge this gap, we propose a probabilistic linguistic evolutionary game to model strategic behavior in carbon emission reduction assistant decision making. First, we introduce a probabilistic linguistic payoff matrix to describe the uncertain payoffs of players. A new distance measure for the probabilistic variables is also proposed to construct the prospect payoff matrix in the prospect theory framework. Then, the evolutionary dynamics and the probabilistic linguistic evolutionary stability of the proposed methods are analyzed. A comprehensive case study for carbon emission reduction with comparisons is presented for validation.

Abstract:In this study, we present models where participants strategically select their risk levels and earn corresponding rewards, mirroring real-world competition across various sectors. Our analysis starts with a normal form game involving two players in a continuous action space, confirming the existence and uniqueness of a Nash equilibrium and providing an analytical solution. We then extend this analysis to multi-player scenarios, introducing a new numerical algorithm for its calculation. A key novelty of our work lies in using regret minimization algorithms to solve continuous games through discretization. This groundbreaking approach enables us to incorporate additional real-world factors like market frictions and risk correlations among firms. We also experimentally validate that the Nash equilibrium in our model also serves as a correlated equilibrium. Our findings illuminate how market frictions and risk correlations affect strategic risk-taking. We also explore how policy measures can impact risk-taking and its associated rewards, with our model providing broader applicability than the Diamond-Dybvig framework. We make our methodology and open-source code available at <a class="link-external link-https" href="https://github.com/louisabraham/cfrgame" rel="external noopener nofollow">this https URL</a> Finally, we contribute methodologically by advocating the use of algorithms in economics, shifting focus from finite games to games with continuous action sets. Abstract:The problem of marine environmental risk is ultimately the result of game theory between the marine en vironmental managers and the enterprise of potential environmental risk.This paper analyzes the internal economic relationship that whether the"protection"policy is applied between the protection action of marine environmental managers and the chemical enterprise.The result shows that the key factor whether the enterprise adopt the"protec tion"policy or not is the amount of penalty and the government's cost of execution,and the compulsive ecological compensation is obligatory from the angle of stimulating the enterprise of canonical action and adopting the"protec tion"policy.To build the ecological compensation mechanism based on the environmental risk will effectively improve the level of management in sea area and decrease the probability of chemical spill.

Abstract:Risk dominance is a complementary part of game theory decision strategy besides payoff dominance strategy. It is widely used in decision of economic behavior and other game conditions with risk characters ([1]). This paper proposes an imperfect information multi-player system using risk dominance strategy for its decision module. In this paper, the influence of the strategy in different conditions is discussed. The cases that risk dominance worked and the process of the module to exclude risk is illustrated. In the end, basing on the results of experiments, the performance of the strategy is discussed.

Abstract:Human societies are constantly coping with global risks. In the face of these risks, people typically have two options, that is, to respond together as a whole (collective solution) or to respond independently (individual solution). Based on these two solutions, individuals have a variety of behavioral strategies. On the other hand, various regulatory bodies supported by the population limit people’s choices and punish individuals who do not contribute to collective solutions. So with different risks, how do the two solutions, the various individual strategies, and the constraints from regulators affect the group’s response to risk? This paper proposes an extended public goods game model involving opportunists and the regulator to explore the effectiveness of collective and individual solutions against risks. The results show that requiring individuals to invest more in the collective solution reduces the group’ s success in resisting risk. To improve the group’s ability to resist risk, investment in individual solution should be at least no less than that in collective solution. The establishment fund and punishment intensity of the regulatory agency have no significant effect on the success of collective and individual solutions. This inspires us to contemplate the role and measures of various types of authorities in coping with global risks.

Abstract:Based on dynamic game theory,a game model of safe production was established of security production between corporation and employees in order to improve corporation's safe production.Through establishing and analyzing the game model of safe production between corporation and employees,it was revealed deeply that how the corporation and employees treat security production on one's own interests in terms of economics.The condition of Nash equilibrium was analyzed according to different accident rates.The game process between corporation and employees was studied through an example.The critical points of regulations strengthened and feasible evaluation about corporation security production were obtained from game model. Many countermeasures are proposed to avoid corporation safe production problems for different production accident rates.

Abstract:This paper aims to explore the influential relationship between the decision-making of investment of enterprise safety and employee safety behavior strategy selection, thus improve the effectiveness of decision-making. Based on traditional game theory, this paper establishes an evolutionary game model of enterprise safety investment and employee safety behavior strategy selection, and conducts numerical simulation analysis. The result shows:when the security investment cost is greater than the security investment benefit, the employee's security behavior strategy choice is significant for the enterprise security investment strategy decision; when the security investment benefit is greater than the security investment cost, the enterprise security investment decision is not affected by the employee safety behavior strategy; the choice of employee safety behavior strategy is not affected by the choice of enterprise safety investment strategy. The conclusion can provide a reference basis for enterprise safety production decision-making, which has certain theoretical and practical significance.

Abstract:With the continuous development of a low-carbon economy, the issue of carbon emission regulation has attracted extensive attention. Considering the characteristics of bounded rationality and difference of risk perception in government and enterprises in the carbon emission regulation process, we construct an evolutionary game model based on prospect theory. Using this model, we analyze the evolutionary stability strategies of government and enterprises under the low, medium, and high risk of air quality deterioration. The results show that the cost-benefit ratio of government and enterprise is the threshold to distinguish the grade of air quality deterioration risk. When the risk of air quality deterioration is low, the government tends to be passive regulation and enterprises tend to traditional production. In the situation of medium risk, the strategy choice of government and enterprise is in a circular state. In the situation of high risk, the government tends to be passive supervision, while enterprises tend to choose low-carbon production. At the same time, there is an incentive paradox in the process of regulation of carbon emissions, but in the long run, it is more effective to strengthen the punishment of local governments' passive regulation than to increase the punishment of enterprises.

Abstract:In order for agents in multi-agent systems (MAS) to be safe, they need to take into account the risks posed by the actions of other agents. However, the dominant paradigm in game theory (GT) assumes that agents are not affected by risk from other agents and only strive to maximise their expected utility. For example, in hybrid human-AI driving systems, it is necessary to limit large deviations in reward resulting from car crashes. Although there are equilibrium concepts in game theory that take into account risk aversion, they either assume that agents are risk-neutral with respect to the uncertainty caused by the actions of other agents, or they are not guaranteed to exist. We introduce a new GT-based Risk-Averse Equilibrium (RAE) that always produces a solution that minimises the potential variance in reward accounting for the strategy of other agents. Theoretically and empirically, we show RAE shares many properties with a Nash Equilibrium (NE), establishing convergence properties and generalising to risk-dominant NE in certain cases. To tackle large-scale problems, we extend RAE to the PSRO multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) framework. We empirically demonstrate the minimum reward variance benefits of RAE in matrix games with high-risk outcomes. Results on MARL experiments show RAE generalises to risk-dominant NE in a trust dilemma game and that it reduces instances of crashing by 7x in an autonomous driving setting versus the best performing baseline.

Abstract:Project risk management, as a subjective and dynamic decision method of avoiding project risk, plays an important role in selecting appropriate control measures (i.e. measure set) to handle multiple emerging risks (i.e. risk set). This paper focuses on the multirisk control problem under the condition of finite risk management resources. Based on the description of a Multi-HUB network and a collaboration mechanism within project risk management system, a multi-risk control system is formulated as a non-cooperative complete information game model between the project risk set and the measure set. In the proposed model, each risk within the risk set is described as a player in the game, who is competing with other players for the allocation of risk control resources that are available in limited quantities within a given measure set. Then an efficient algorithm is proposed to solve the allocation solution based on Nash equilibrium, and an experiment is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed game model. The proposed modeling and solution methods can be used to support decision-making in project risk management.

Abstract:In this paper, the authors first point out that game players are faced with some risk of decision-making when mixed strategy Nash equilibrium is achieved, and that the risk can not be directly measured with the conventional methods applied in weighing risks of general decision-making because this is the case with a game. Therefore, by integrating the expected utility, uncertainty and the absolute risk aversion coefficient of players, the authors present a new method to measure the risk facing the players in a game, on the basis of which the authors discuss the effects on the realization of equilibrium in game playing.

Abstract:Purpose The study focuses on drug safety regulation capture, reveals the inner mechanism and evolutionary characteristics of drug safety regulation capture and provides suggestions for effective regulation by pharmacovigilance. Design/methodology/approach The article introduces prospect theory into the game strategy analysis of drug safety events, constructs a benefit perception matrix based on psychological perception and analyzes the risk selection strategies and constraints on stable outcomes for both drug companies and drug regulatory authorities. Moreover, simulation was used to analyze the choice of results of different parameters on the game strategy. Findings The results found that the system does not have a stable equilibrium strategy under the role of cognitive psychology. The risk transfer coefficient, penalty cost, risk loss, regulatory benefit, regulatory success probability and risk discount coefficient directly acted in the direction of system evolution toward the system stable strategy. There is a critical effect on the behavioral strategies of drug manufacturers and drug supervisors, which exceeds a certain intensity before the behavioral strategies in repeated games tend to stabilize. Originality/value In this article, the authors constructed the perceived benefit matrix through the prospect value function to analyze the behavioral evolution game strategies of drug companies and FDA in the regulatory process, and to evaluate the evolution law of each factor.
