Abstract:A simple and renewable approach to synthesize ZnWO4/Ag3PO4 composites has been explored for the enhancement of the photocatalytic activity and stability of Ag3PO4. The XRD, SEM and TEM spectra show that the ZnWO4 particles are deposited on the Ag3PO4 substrate. The photocatalytic experiments demonstrate that the 4% ZnWO4/Ag3PO4 composite exhibits a high photocatalytic activity, which is higher than that of pure Ag3PO4. The photoluminescence measurements suggest a more efficient photoinduced charge separation and transfer in the ZnWO4/Ag3PO4 composite. The photocatalytic mechanism of the ZnWO4/Ag3PO4 composite is discussed according to its band structure. The constructed ZnWO4/Ag3PO4 composite exhibited a promising and desirable photocatalytic activity, as well as a good stability under visible light, and thus may find potential applications in environmental decontamination and conversion of solar energy.

Abstract:A novel Ag3PO4/multiwalled carbon nanotube (Ag3PO4/MWCNT) composite has been prepared by a simple precipitant approach. The obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray, UV–Vis diffuse reflectance, and Raman spectroscopy. It is found that the MWCNTs are well deposited on Ag3PO4 nanoparticles. The Ag3PO4/MWCNT composite with MWCNT content of 1.4 wt% exhibits optimal photocatalytic activity under visible light. The rate constant of MO degradation over Ag3PO4/1.4 wt% MWCNT is 5.84 times that of pure Ag3PO4. Compared with pure Ag3PO4, the incorporation of MWCNTs not only significantly enhances the photocatalytic activity but also improves the structural stability of Ag3PO4, suggesting that the synergistic effects take place in the composite. The improvement is attributed to the conductive structure supported by MWCNTs, which favors electron–hole separation and the removal of photogenerated electrons from the decorated Ag3PO4. A possible photocatalytic mechanism of the Ag3PO4/MWCNT photocatalyst was assumed as well.

Abstract:The graphene quantum dots (GQDs) with outstanding electron conductivity and good optical properties modified Ag3PO4 composites were prepared by a simple two-step method. Compared to pure Ag3PO4, the GQDs/Ag3PO4 composites exhibited enhanced photocatalytic activities for degradation Rhodamine B (RhB) and 4-Chlorophenol (4-CP) under the visible-light irradiation. More interestingly, the stabilities of Ag3PO4 were also been improved after introducing GQDs. The possible reaction mechanism was proposed by discussing comprehensive characterizations, which indicated that the GQDs can work as electron acceptors to enhance separation efficiency of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. The structure-activity relationships have been studied in detail. The active species was determined and photocatalytic mechanism was proposed.

Abstract:Novel visible-light-driven Ag3PO4/AgBr/AgI photocatalysts were prepared via a simple self-assembly strategy combined with in-situ anion-exchanging process. The photocatalytic activity of Ag3PO4 was significantly improved by constructing double-Z system. Specifically, the obtained materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). Under visible light irradiation (λ > 420 nm), the Ag3PO4/AgBr/AgI photocatalysts showed much higher photocatalytic activity than bulk Ag3PO4 for the degradation of formaldehyde (HCHO), and 100% HCHO degradation could be obtained within 28 min. The degradation efficiency could be maintained in five cycles. Further electron paramagnetic resonance (ESR) tests demonstrated that both •OH and •O2− generated in the system. This study provides new insights into the fabrication of highly efficient visible-light-driven photocatalysts and facilitates their practical application in emerging environment issues.

Abstract:Several novel micro-nano Ag3PO4/ZnFe2O4 with excellent magnetic separation property and photocatalytic performance were successfully synthesized using different organic additives for the first time. In the composite, Ag3PO4 with flower-like, quadrangular prism and flake structures were obtained when the organic additive is hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC), or DL-malic acid (DLMA), respectively, while the ZnFe2O4 showed uniform spherical structure. From the results of the photocatalytic activity analysis, the Ag3PO4/ZnFe2O4 gained with the organic additive of DDTC showed the highest photocatalytic capability for 2, 4-dichlorophenol (2, 4-DCP) degradation under visible light irradiation compared with those of CTAB and DLMA as the additives. Moreover, the composition of the composite seriously influences the photocatalytic activity, and when the mass ratio of Ag3PO4 and ZnFe2O4 in the Ag3PO4/ZnFe2O4 (DITCH) is 9:1, the apparent photo degradation rate constant of 2, 4-DC is 0.0155min−1, which is 5.74 times of ZnFe2O4 (0.0027min−1) and 1.89 times of Ag3PO4 (0.0082min−1). Finally, the photocatalytic mechanism of Ag3PO4/ZnFe2O4 was discussed based on the heterojunction energy-band theory and Z-Scheme theory in detail.

Abstract:A highly efficient and stable Ag/Ag3PO4 photocatalyst was prepared by a facile one-pot hydrothermal method assisted by pyridine. Pyridine played two important roles in the synthesis: it could work as a coordination agent role of Ag+ and act as reductant for reduce partial Ag+ to metallic Ag. The influences of pyridine amount, reaction temperature and pH value on the content of Ag in the composite were investigated. The diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS) indicated that the Ag/Ag3PO4 had strong absorption in UV and visible light regions. The photocatalytic activity of the composite was evaluated by the degradation of methyl orange (MO) and phenol under visible light irradiation. The experimental results indicated that the Ag/Ag3PO4 showed highly efficient and stable photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation. It was considered that the excellent performance resulted from the surface plasmon resonance of Ag nanoparticles and a large negative charge of PO43− ion.
Preparation of Z-scheme WO3(H2O)0.333/Ag3PO4 Composites with Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity and Durability

Abstract:Ag3PO4 is widely used in the field of photocatalysis because of its unique activity. However, photocorrosion limits its practical application. Therefore, it is very urgent to find a solution to improve the light corrosion resistance of Ag3PO4. Herein, the Z-scheme WO3(H2O)0.333/Ag3PO4 composites are successfully prepared through microwave hydrothermal and simple stirring. The WO3(H2O)0.333/Ag3PO4 composites are characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy. In the degradation of organic pollutants, WO3(H2O)0.333/Ag3PO4 composites exhibit excellent performance under visible light. This is mainly attributed to the synergy of WO3(H2O)0.333 and Ag3PO4. Especially, the photocatalytic activity of 15%WO3(H2O)0.333/Ag3PO4 is the highest, and the methylene blue can be completely degraded in 4 min. In addition, the stability of the composites is also greatly enhanced. After five cycles of testing, the photocatalytic activity of 15%WO3(H2O)0.333/Ag3PO4 is not obviously decreased. However, the degradation efficiency of Ag3PO4 was only 20.2%. This indicates that adding WO3(H2O)0.333 can significantly improve the photoetching resistance of Ag3PO4. Finally, Z-scheme photocatalytic mechanism is investigated.

Abstract:Novel Cd2P2O7/Ag3PO4 photocatalysts containing different mass fractions of Cd2P2O7 were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. The photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Electron spin resonance (ESR), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, ultraviolet–visible absorption spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy. Photocatalytic activity was decided by the effective separation and low recombination rate of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. During the experiments, the Cd2P2O7/Ag3PO4 composites possessed fierce electron- hole separation capacity. In particular, the 1wt% Cd2P2O7/Ag3PO4 catalyst displayed higher photocatalytic performance than pure Ag3PO4 under visible-light irradiation (λ>420nm). The ESR spectrum showed the main active species during the methyl orange degradation were ·OH and ·O2−.

Abstract:Ag3PO4 nanoparticles are often considered to be a fascinating and efficient visible photocatalyst because of its high quantum efficiency and excellent activity of O2 generation from water oxidation. However, the photo-corroded phenomenon and stability during the photocatalytic process reduce the photocatalytic activity. To overcome these disadvantages, strategies of combining Ag3PO4 with two-dimensional materials have been put forward to improve its stability and photocatalytic properties under visible-light irradiation. In this work, a novel Z-scheme Ag3PO4/graphdiyne/g-C3N4 nanocomposite was constructed via a simple electrostatic and π-π stacking interaction for the first time. Significantly, such Z-scheme nanostructures show highly oxygen evolution, and 753.1 μmol g−1 h−1 of O2 was produced with Ag3PO4/graphdiyne/g-C3N4, which was 12.2 times higher than that of Ag3PO4 nanoparticles. Graphdiyne with π-conjugated structure of sp- and sp2-hybridized carbon atoms, can not only act as conductive electron mediator bridges to collect photogenerated electrons and boost the O2 evolution kinetics, but also used as a promising substrate for stabilizing Ag3PO4 in the composite.

Abstract:Novel Ag2MoO4/Ag3PO4 (AgMoP) composites were synthesized by a facile precipitation method. The composition, structures and optical properties of as-prepared catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV vis diffused reflectance spectra (UV vis DRS). The photocatalytic activities were evaluated by the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) under visible light irradiation lambda >= 420 nm). 5% AgMoP composite showed the best photocatalytic performance, and its degradation rate constants were 2.8, 2.4, 4.6 times higher than pure Ag3PO4 for the degradation of RhB, MB, MO, respectively. Particularly, its photocatalytic property can be maintained even after four degradation cycles. Additionally, based on UV vis DRS and active species trapping, the photocatalytic mechanism for the enhanced photocatalytic performance of Ag2MoO4/Ag3PO4 was proposed. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. Abstract:The BiOCl/Ag3PO4 composites have been prepared via a facile and reproducible route. In the composite, Ag3PO4 particles are deposited on the surface of plates of BiOCl. Among the as‐prepared samples, the ultraviolet (UV) and visible light photocatalytic reaction rates of BiOCl/Ag3PO4 composite with the ratio of 1:0.1 are about 4.4 times and 4.5 times than that of pure BiOCl, respectively. Overall, the BiOCl/Ag3PO4 composites not only show highly enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity but also exhibit highly improved UV photocatalytic activity, which could find enormous potential application in addressing environmental protection issues utilizing solar energy effectively.
Preparation of Porous G‐c3n4/ag/cu2o: a New Composite with Enhanced Visible‐light Photocatalytic Activity

Abstract:From previous reports, graphitic carbon nitride (g‐C3N4) can be used as a photocatalyst, although the low efficiency of solar energy utilization, small specific surface area and high recombination rate of photogenerated electron–hole pairs limit its practical application. For the purpose of increasing photocatalytic activity, especially under irradiation of visible light, we successfully synthesized a new composite, namely porous g‐C3N4/Ag/Cu2O, through chemical adsorption of Ag‐doped Cu2O on porous g‐C3N4, which has not been investigated carefully worldwide. The composition, morphology and optical properties of the composite were investigated through methods including X‐ray diffraction, energy‐dispersive X‐ray, Fourier transform infrared, UV–visible and photoluminescence spectroscopies and transmission electron microscopy. Using rhodamine B as organic pollutant to be degraded under the irradiation of visible light, different mass ratios of Ag/Cu2O doped on porous g‐C3N4 led to enhanced photocatalytic performance of the composite compared to pure porous g‐C3N4. When the mass ratio of Ag/Cu2O is 15%, porous g‐C3N4/Ag/Cu2O exhibits a degradation rate 2.015 times higher than that of pure porous g‐C3N4. The reasons for this phenomenon may be attributed to the increased utilization efficiency of visible light, high‐speed separation of photogenerated electron–hole pairs, accelerated interfacial transfer process of electrons and increased surface area of the composite. Construction of ZnCo2O4/Ag3PO4 composite photocatalyst for enhanced photocatalytic performance

Abstract:In this study, ZnCo2O4 was prepared by a microwave‐assisted process, and then ZnCo2O4 was loaded onto Ag3PO4 by in‐situ chemical precipitation method to obtain a composite photocatalyst. The catalytic activity and cycle stability were evaluated under visible light, and the catalytic reaction mechanism was proposed. In this study, ZnCo2O4/Ag3PO4 composite catalyst was prepared by the precipitation method, and their performance in the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) was studied. The catalysts were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, selected area electron diffraction, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and UV‐Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The results indicate that the 0.1 ZnCo2O4/Ag3PO4 composite system has good photocatalytic activity in the degradation of methyl orange. Under simulated sunlight conditions, the degradation rate can reach 94% after 30 min. The maximum reaction rate constant of 0.1 ZnCo2O4/Ag3PO4 was 0.05301 min−1, which is 3 times and 52 times the rate constant of pure Ag3PO4 and pure ZnCo2O4, respectively. In catalyst recycling experiments, 0.1 ZnCo2O4/Ag3PO4 still degraded methyl orange at a rate of 84.4% after three cycles. Trapping experiments showed that holes and superoxide radicals mostly contributed to the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange by the catalyst, while hydroxyl radicals played a partial role. The energy level structure of ZnCo2O4/Ag3PO4 is conducive to the effective separation of photogenerated electrons and holes, improving the lifespan of photogenerated charges. In the investigated catalyst series, 0.1 ZnCo2O4/Ag3PO4 demonstrated the best photocatalytic performance.

Abstract:Ag3PO4 is considered to be an ideal candidate for water photo-oxidation and organic contaminant decomposition under visible light due to its appropriate band gap position, nontoxicity, and high quantum yield. However, the prominent low stability and adsorption capacity due to light corrosion hinders the performance improvement. Herein, Ag3PO4 particles coated by halloysite nanotubes (Hal) might display noticeably photocatalytic activities upon light excitation. The Ag3PO4@halloysite nanotubes (Ag3PO4@Hal) nanocomposites could be facile prepared in large quantities through a simple, green, and efficient direct precipitation method. Compared with the individually dispersed Ag3PO4 particles, the as-prepared Ag3PO4@Hal nanocomposites showed the smaller band gap energy. The Ag3PO4@Hal nanocomposites can endow Hal special performance and also improve the catalytic activity of Ag3PO4, which is proposed to have originated from narrow band gap, strong adsorption capacity and low surface recombination rate induced by a negative fixed charge in the Hal shells. The Ag3PO4@Hal nanocomposites can be used as highly efficient photocatalysts. The current study provides a new paradigm for designing new type nanocomposites with excellent collaborative performance.

Abstract:In this paper, novel Z-scheme porous graphitic C3N4 (Pg-C3N4)/Ag3PO4 composite was synthesized by a facile and green method at room temperature. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) were used to characterize the structural, crystal and optical properties of the as-prepared nanocomposites. Photocatalytic activity of catalysts is evaluated by degrading methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. The results showed that photocatalytic activity of Pg-C3N4/Ag3PO4 was much higher than that of Pg-C3N4 and Ag3PO4. The kinetic constant Kapp of MB degradation over Pg-C3N4/Ag3PO4 was 1.45 and 9.6 times as high as that of Ag3PO4 and Pg-C3N4, respectively. Finally, Z-scheme photocatalytic mechanism is proposed.
A flower- like Zn3V2O8/ Ag composite with enhanced visible light driven photocatalytic activity: the triple- functional roles of Ag nanoparticles

Abstract:Coprecipitation, calcination and photoreduction, in a combined method, were successfully employed to fabricate a flower-like Zn3V2O8 (ZnVO)/nano-precipitated Ag composite powder. XRD, XPS, FESEM, TEM, UV-vis and PL methods were utilized to investigate its microstructure and optical performance. Results showed that the photocatalytic performance was improved due to the expanded absorption edge in the visible light region, narrowed band gap and low recombination rate of electron-hole pairs. Theoretical calculations based on density functional theory (DFT) showed that the band-gap of ZnVO could be narrowed by the hybridization of the O 2p and Zn 3d orbitals of ZnVO-Ag and the formed silver nanoparticles were beneficial for the excitation of the valence band electrons into the conduction band. Furthermore, the electric field distribution simulated by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method suggested that the separation of electron-hole pairs could be accelerated by the silver SPR effect and the Schottky barrier between silver and ZnVO. Finally, a tentative mechanism of the photodegradation properties was explored based on microstructural and photocatalytic analysis.
Facile synthesis of ZnCd-MOF/Ag3PO4 heterojunction for highly efficient photocatalytic oxygen evolution

Abstract:Constructing suitable heterojunction with interface engineering has been an effective way to boost charge separation of semiconductors, thus providing improved photocatalytic ability. In this work, a novel bimetallic framework (ZnCd-MOF) was prepared to construct heterojunction with Ag 3 PO 4 . The ZnCd-MOF nanosheets were dispersed around Ag 3 PO 4 particles with a close interface; as a result, the interface photo-charge separation was enhanced, and more photogenerated holes can be concentrated on the Ag 3 PO 4 for realizing a higher photocatalytic activity. The obtained ZnCd-MOF/Ag 3 PO 4 composites exhibited higher photocatalytic oxygen production activity than that of pure Ag 3 PO 4 . Furthermore, when the content of ZnCd-MOF in the composite increased from 1 to 10 wt%, the oxygen production increased from 1399 to 2458 μmol g −1 under simulated sunlight irradiation. This work provides a new way to design high-efficiency Ag 3 PO 4 -based heterojunction photocatalyst via taking full advantage of the interface engineering in the composite together with providing abundant active sites for photocatalytic oxygen production.

Abstract:AgI/Ag3PO4 hybrids were synthesized via an ion-exchange method. The structures and morphologies of the samples were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and photoluminescence (PL). The results showed that AgI nanoparticles were uniformly distributed on the surface of Ag3PO4 and the heterostructure was formed. DRS of the AgI/Ag3PO4 composites exhibited strong absorbance in Ultraviolet (UV) and visible regions. PL analysis indicated a more efficient separation of electron–hole pairs in the AgI/Ag3PO4 nanocomposites. Under visible light (λ >400nm), the photocatalytic activity of the AgI/Ag3PO4 composites for photodegradation of rhodamine B were efficient and much higher than that of the pure Ag3PO4 crystals. The enhancing photocatalytic activity of AgI/Ag3PO4 was attributed to the efficient separation of electron–hole pairs derived from the matching band potentials between AgI and Ag3PO4. A photocatalytic mechanism and the photocatalytic reaction kinetics over AgI/Ag3PO4 hybrid materials were also proposed.
