Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
Abstract:As development of endoscopic resection technique, superficial non-ampullary duodenal tumors (SNADETs), which are sometimes incidentally detected in patients without symptoms, have also become treatable endoscopically. However, clinicopathological characteristics of that tumor remain unknown. We speculate that the environment in the stomach particularly regarding Helicobacter Pylori (HP) infection and subsequent atrophic change of the gastric mucosa might influence on the tumorigenesis of SNADETs. To investigate the relationship between HP status and incidence of SNADETs, we retrospectively assessed atrophic change of the stomach in patients with SNADETs, followed by the comparison of these cases to historical controls.
