Abstract:A creative and explorative experiment was designed in this paper. The interactive teaching model was used during the experiment process. The material used in the experiment was transparent rare earth doped glass-ceramics containing nanocrystals. It was synthesized from conventionally melt-quenched fluoride precursor glass followed by controlled heat treatment. The heat treatment temperature was estimated from the differential thermal analysis. The crystallite behaviour of the glass-ceramics was observed by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Photostimulated luminescence was applied to measure and evaluate the enhanced optical performance due to rare earth doping. It is indicated that interactive experimental method is a valuable way for students to gain knowledge of nanomaterials preparation, characterization and examination. And this method will promote the teaching reformation in the major of materials science and engineering and develop the high quality innovative training of engineering education.
