Abstract:A novel probe based on the fluorescence off-on strategy was prepared to optically detect hydrogen sulfide (H2S) via an excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) mechanism. The probe shows high sensitivity and excellent selectivity to H2S. It also displays a large Stokes shift (similar to 140 nm) and a remarkable quantum yield enhancement (Phi = 0.412) after interaction with H2S. Moreover, the cellular imaging experiment demonstrated that it has potential utility for H2S sensing in biological sciences. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:A new ratiometric fluorescence probe E1 based on an excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) mechanism for detection of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is reported. E1 responds to H2S quickly and showed a 30-fold fluorescence enhancement in 2 minutes. Moreover, E1 can detect H2S quantitatively with a detection limit as low as 0.12 mu M in aqueous solution. Its potential for biological applications was confirmed by employing it for fluorescence imaging of H2S in living cells.

Abstract:The rational design of effective tools capable of monitoring hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is of great importance to fully understand its physiological and pathological functions. Herein, a self-assembled fluorescent nanoprobe with both aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) characteristics for H2S detection has been successfully developed via a modified nanoprecipitation method. The nanoprobe features high water dispersibility, a large Stokes shift (ca. 100 nm), good biocompatibility as well as high selectivity towards H2S over other putative interferents. Live cell imaging experiments demonstrate that the nanoprobe, with good cell-membrane permeability, can facilitate the visualization of exogenous and endogenous H2S levels. Moreover, the nanoprobe has also been found capable of detecting H2S in zebrafish. This nanoprobe with AIE and ESIPT characteristics can provide a novel method for the development of fluorescent probes for monitoring biological processes.

Abstract:Since Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) was recognized as a gas transmitter, its detection and quantification have become a hot research topic among chemists and biologists. In this area, fluorescent probes have shown great advantages: fast and strong response, low detection limit and easy manipulation. Here we developed a new fluorescent probe that detected H2S selectively among various bioactive and inorganic salts. This probe was based on the core structure of fluorescein and reacted with H2S through azide-reduction. Great linearity was achieved correlating fluorescence intensity and H2S concentrations in solution. The detection of H2S in cancer cells was also achieved.

Abstract:Hydrogen sulfide has emerged as an important biological messenger and much attention has been paid to the design of fluorescent probes for H2S to meet the requirement of accurate measurement of H2S. In this work, a new red emission fluorescent probe for H2S was developed based on the reduction reaction of azide with H2S to amine with the fluorophore of dicyanomethylenedihydrofuran because of its long excitation and emission wavelength. The probe has a high selectivity for H2S over competitive anions and sulfide-containing analytes. Finally, the probe was applied to sense H2S in living cells.

Abstract:A ratiometric visualized fluorescent probe of H2S of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) and excited intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) mechanisms due to solvation effects has been designed and synthesized. This chemosensor shows the distinct signal changes with dual-emission in blue and green fluorescence spectral channel (from 495 nm to 525 nm) upon the addition of H2S in a single wavelength excitation. This chemosensor exhibits the low detection limit (91 nM) and high sensitivity and selectivity. Based on this, this chemosensor was successfully used not only to monitor H2S exogenously but also used to detect and image the endogenously generated H2S in HeLa cells with excellent performance.

Abstract:A new Near-infrared fluorescent probe for hydrogen sulfide detection was synthesized by employing dicyanoisophorone based fluorescence dye as a fluorophore and methyl 3-(2-(carbonyl)phenyl)-2-cyanoacrylate group as the response unit. The Probe DCI-H 2 S showed a long emission wavelength (λem = 674 nm). Based on the H 2 S-induced addition–cyclization of deprotecting methyl 3-(2-(carbonyl)phenyl)-2-cyanoacrylate group, the probe DCI-H 2 S showed high selectivity, sensitivity and response speed toward hydrogen sulfide under room temperature. These numerous advantages of the probe DCI-H 2 S make it to potentially detect endogenous hydrogen sulfide in living organisms.

Abstract:Hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) is traditionally considered as an ecologically toxic gas, has been proven to be the third endogenous signalling gasotransmitter and plays important roles in physiological and pathophysiological conditions. Herein, we designed and synthesized a novel "turn off" fluorescent probe for the detection of hydrogen sulfide(H 2 S) in vitro. Probe A could detect H 2 S in CH 3 CN/PBS system with significant fluorescence quenching. Probe A also showed obviously aggregationinduced emission (AIE) effects. Fluorescence titration experiments revealed probe A combine with H 2 S in a 1: 1 ratio with a detection limit of 6.54 mu M. Cell imaging results demonstrated the potential applicability of probe A for H 2 S detection in living cells. The supramolecular assembly of probe A and beta-cyclodextrin further revealed the interaction with H 2 S.

Abstract:This paper describes a cyanine-based colorimetric and fluorescence probe for the sensitive and selective detection of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). The mechanism of H2S detection is based on the reaction of hydro sulfide anion with a disulfide bond. The resulting product of the reaction of the probe with hydrogen sulfide can be detected in a colorimetric assay as it changes a color of the reaction mixture from green to pink in aqueous solutions. Simultaneously, a 25-fold increase in the fluorescence signal of the probe upon its interaction with hydrogen sulfide gives a unique opportunity for the usage of this probe for in vivo detection of H2S. In addition, the present study demonstrates a potential of the newly developed chemosensor for the detection of increased concentrations of H2S in insect cells and alive C.elegans. Abstract:H2S has been reported to play essential roles in a variety of physiological and pathological procedures. In this work, a novel fluorescent probe, Rho-HS, for detecting H2S was developed by introducing the ortho-halogen to activate the least reactive recognition group 2,4-dinitrophenyl moiety. In combination of the structures from both Rhodamine B and fluorescein, Rho-HS could generate both the colorimetric and fluorescent responses. This feature was not frequently achieved and could lead to the quantitative and convenient for the end-user. In comparison with recent probes for H2S, the major advantages of Rho-HS included suiting wide pH range (6.0-10.0), relatively rapid response (within 15 min) and the high selectivity among the competing species including the biothiols. With low cytoxicity, Rho-HS was further applied in the biological imaging in living MCF7 cells and Caenorhabditis elegans. We hope that the designing strategy in this work might provide useful information for more preferable implements in this field.
