Abstract:With the shift towards the "knowledge economy", knowledge sharing is an important process in modern organizations, as successful knowledge sharing can result in shared intellectual capital, an increasing important resource. In this paper, we attempted to explore the relationships among knowledge sharing, affective commitment, perceived task interdependence and job involvement in Chinese accounting firms from the antecedents and outcomes of commitment based empirical data. Firstly, we developed a hypothesized structural model and put forward a series of hypotheses. Secondly, the model was tested using the data from 151 auditors working in Chinese public accounting firms. The results of confirmatory factor analysis indicated the strongly positively relationship between work environment (here, means job involvement and perceived task interdependent), organizational and team affective commitment, and knowledge sharing in Chinese public accounting firms. Contrary to prediction, the relationships between perceived task interdependent and professional affective commitment, professional affective commitment and knowledge sharing were not significant in Chinese public accounting firms; and job involvement has negative relationship with knowledge sharing. From this study, we suggested it may be possible to influence auditors' relative levels of organizational and team affective commitment and knowledge sharing by manipulating work environment

Abstract:In the security market,the quality of accounting information plays an important role in resource distribution and market operation,and it is determined by auditor quality in a large extent.Generally,it is viewed as a beginning point of research on auditor quality that those investigations focus on driving factors on demand and supply aspects of auditor quality.Considering that current research about it is at the initial stage in China,this paper reviews and summarizes synthetically related foreign researches during the late 20 years.On the basis of review,we put forward some advices to the domestic future research.

Abstract:The relationship between reading and writing (RRW) is one of the major themes in learning science. One of its obstacles is that it is difficult to define or measure the latent background knowledge of the individual. However, in an academic research setting, scholars are required to explicitly list their background knowledge in the citation sections of their manuscripts. This unique opportunity was taken advantage of to observe RRW, especially in the published academic commentary scenario. RRW was visualized under a proposed topic process model by using a state of the art version of latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA). The empirical study showed that the academic commentary is modulated both by its target paper and the author's background knowledge. Although this conclusion was obtained in a unique environment, we suggest its implications can also shed light on other similar interesting areas, such as dialog and conversation, group discussion, and social media.

Abstract:Empirical research method applied in the field of accounting study has enlivened the academic atmosphere, and enriched the achievements. However, it has certain congenital defects in topic limits, hypothesis, and procedures etc. It also has acquired some flaws when it is applied in the typical system environment and other conditions in China. For Chinese researchers, it is their rational choice to get a full understanding of the normative research method and empirical research method, and combine them together according to a right mechanism. As field research concurrently has the advantages of both empirical research and normative research, it is actually the best combination of these two methods.

Abstract:This paper reviews the empirical accounting research in China in the last ten years.We first depict a big picture of the literature and then give some critical reviews on each important area.Our focus is on the research problems and the weakness of research designs. Basing on the literature we reviewed,we provide our perspective on the prospect of empirical accounting study in China.The structure of our paper is different with other review papers in that we propose a framework of the empirical accounting study surrounding accounting information,and then review relevant topics according to the framework.
Openness and Knowledge Sharing of Economics,Sociology,Law and Politics:A Comparative Study on Citations of Chinese Social Science Journals

Abstract:As an important part of academic papers which comply with the norms of social science research,citations themselves are of great research value.On the basis of the collection of citation data from top Chinese journals in economics,sociology,law and politics and on the basis of internal and international comparison research,we find that economics and sociology are more open to research abroad while law and politics are less open.And in these subjects,the level of citations to other social sciences is comparatively low.We also find that the percentage of self-citation in economics decreased significantly while that in sociology,law and politics increased moderately between 1998 and 2008 according to the results of the comparison of interdisciplinary citations.On the other hand,the percentage of interdisciplinary citation of sociology and law to economics are quite high,while the percentage of interdisciplinary citation of politics to economics is low.We think that the lack of interdisciplinary journals and the lack of researchers are two key reasons for the underdevelopment of interdisciplinary research in China.

Abstract:Accounting theorists agree that no comprehensive theory of accounting has yet been developed. In the absence of such a theory, the question arises whether sufficient accounting principles are created through accounting research. This article acknowledges that accounting principles are not solely the result of academic research and that current accounting practice through its standard‐setting process contributes far more to the development of accounting principles. Hence the role that accounting theory and research should play in developing accounting principles is a vital academic question. The discussion in the article focuses on the normative and descriptive (or the more modern positivistic) approach to the development of accounting theory, the positivistic nature of mainstream accounting research, a possible decision‐useful theory of accounting and the role of interpretative and critical research. All of these developments are beneficial to accounting since they open up accounting to a diversity of research approaches that will collectively improve the status of accounting research and possibly accounting theory. The role that these developments fulfil in creating appropriate accounting principles, however, is debatable.

Abstract:Financial accounting is essential to financial accountability, which is essential to a prosperous society. There are many examples of how improvements to financial accounting, supported by research, have enhanced financial accountability. Such research requires a strong relation between accounting academics and practice; this relation has ebbed and flowed during the life of Abacus. The relation seems to ebb when accounting academics embrace related fields and flows when the relevance to accounting practice emerges. Economics and finance have provided new perspectives and meaningful insights about the information investors need to make informed decisions. Regardless, there are many intriguing and open questions awaiting accounting research that can provide insights into how financial accounting—and thus financial accountability—can be improved. The future is bright for financial accounting researchers who do research relevant to accounting practice and want to contribute to a prosperous society.

Abstract:Abstract: Accounting basic professional ethics refers to the behavior and norms that accountants should follow. It reflects the professional skills, professional ethics and influence on the social economic environment of accountants. With the development of the times, financial information has become the basis for the parties to participate in the decision of the social market economy, so the importance of the basic professional ethics of accounting has become increasingly prominent. In recent years, accounting fraud has become more and more serious due to the irregularities of accountants' basic professional ethics, which has affected the development of the social market economy. Therefore, it is urgent to strengthen the construction of accounting professional ethics, improve the moral standard of accountants, resolutely crack down on false accounts, standardize the order of our accounting market and eliminate corruption. Although accounting ethics receives a lot of attention today, many scholars still treat it as a separate discipline, rather than just combining it with false financial statements, fraud, and fraudulent activities. This article delves into the ethical standards of accounting practitioners in China and explores the reasons for this phenomenon from different perspectives. Through this work, it proposes some effective measures to promote the fairness and transparency of China's accounting work and create a healthy financial environment for society.

Abstract:Subject. This article examines the main approaches to the construction of the theory of accounting, namely the inductive and deductive ones. Objectives. The article aims to identify the advantages and disadvantages of each of the approaches, analyze the structure of the theory of accounting in detail, and identify it at the present stage of development of accounting as a science discipline. Methods. For the study, I used combinations of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, and historical and logical research methods. Results. The article defines the structure of the theory of accounting that includes the objectives of financial reporting, postulates and theoretical concepts of accounting, as well as the principles and techniques of accounting. Conclusions and Relevance. The article concludes that of the two existing approaches to the construction of the theory of accounting, the inductive approach has a number of significant drawbacks that do not allow building a full-fledged theory of accounting. The deductive approach also has a number of drawbacks associated with understanding the axiomatic basis and the inference rules, but it helps lay the scientific foundations for building a complete and consistent theory of accounting. The results obtained can be used to create the theory of accounting.

Abstract:The contemporary communication studies show that most empirical research outcomes lack academic qualification and theoretical innovation and fail to play a guide role in solving the problems in practice and theory.Historically speaking,we can not simply deny its academic value and significance in communications.This is because the research under the guidance of positivism epistemology would possibly achieve a high academic value.The positivism epistemology which came into being in Columbia School used to uphold the ideal of Middle-Level theory and later descended to a specific research technique.Due to its several defects,the research technique came up with the anti-theory and anti-science preference of common sense;however,owing to the need of it in every dimension of the society,the research technique has become some kind of currency in the circulation in the society and played the role of exchanging resources.As a result,a great number of scholars have molded it into a mainstream research technique to exchange social resources.The research on communications of the last 30 years has witnessed the rapid monetization of empirical research.In the process of communications institutionalization featuring late beginning and weak academic foundation,it is necessary for us to be vigilant against the overwhelming power of instrumentalism and prevent it from misguiding communication studies.

Abstract:Under different culture backgrounds,accounting issues can only be accurately expressed in corresponding contextual research.Nowadays,the practice of simply emphasizing paper publication in Western English Journals is worthy of reflection.In the academic circle of accounting in China,there exists comparatively problematic phenomenon of self-enjoyment,which makes it difficult for theoretical accomplishments to play the due,guiding role in accounting practices in China.For the healthy development of accounting research in China,we need to solve the urgent issue of "telling the truth and expressing clearly".And the Chinese Accounting Society bears unshirkable historical responsibility of solving such an issue.

Abstract:The article aims to explore ways of theorizing in accounting history research. The article draws on findings originating from a semi-automated text analysis by means of topic modelling of 1,300 accounting history papers published between 1996 and 2015 across six journals most relevant to the discipline. Findings show the presence of a whole range of ways of theorizing at different levels of abstraction (from narrating to conceptualizing to theorizing settings to grand theorizing). Different ways of theorizing tend to be associated not only with specific research objects but also with specific journal types. Overall, both narrating and grand theorizing are relatively decreasing in favour of mid-range theorizing approaches, which seem to be on the rise.

Abstract:Purpose The literature on financial statement analysis attempts to improve fundamental analysis and to identify market inefficiencies with respect to financial statement information. Design/methodology/approach In this paper, the author reviews the extant research on financial statement analysis. Findings The author then provides some preliminary evidence using Chinese data and offer suggestions for future research, with a focus on utilising unique features of the Chinese business environment as motivation. Originality/value The author notes that there has been no work that the author could locate specifically on Chinese FSA research. The unique business environment in China, relative to the US where the vast majority of this work has been conducted, should motivate any studies, especially given the author documents the robust finding in terms of the mean reversion in profitability.

Abstract:Most economic models are based on the self-interest hypothesis.However,in recent years,overwhelming experimental economic evidence has systematically refuted the self-interest hypothesis.In the experiments,most participants show other-regarding preference,such as altruism,fairness,reciprocity,etc.Western economic theorists use three different approaches to explain the observed phenomena:first are the models of distributive preferences,which assume that people care about the final distribution,e.g.,equality,equity,efficiency;second are the models of reciprocal preferences,which assume that people desire to reward or punish others beyond mere consequences;third are the models of future interaction preferences,which assume that people treat the partner more generously when there is a prospect of future interaction.This paper reviews and comments on these three kinds of models of other-regarding preferences.
