Abstract:Social constructivism,which is prevailing in the West,causes a theoretical basis of dual contradiction.On the one hand,social constructivism appeals for opposition to such views of linguistic realism as essentialism,foundationalism,and magnificent narration,which will naturally lead to an anti-tradition theoretical study.On the other hand,however,the theory points out emphatically that all sciences,theories,and laws are not natural existences,but constructive results of language,society,and culture.This theoretical tendency objectively encourages a re-orientation and re-location of theoretical study,which may help free theoretical study from subordinate place and passive state of observatory experiment and practice to add new tension to it by breaking the dogma of empirical study.

Abstract:From 1980, Sociology of Scientific Knowledge has realized the turning from rational reconstruction of science into sociological reconstruction of science. As a result, it opens a door of a series of new problems, which have been neglected. Of course, this sociological turn has a close relation to the Kuhn's historicism paradigm theory. Abstract:The need for an integrated social constructivist approach towards the study of science and technology is outlined. Within such a programme both scientific facts and technological artefacts are to be understood as social constructs. Literature on the sociology of science, the science-technology relationship, and technology studies is reviewed. The empirical programme of relativism within the sociology of scientific knowledge and a recent study of the social construction of technological artefacts are combined to produce the new approach. The concepts of `interpretative flexibility' and `closure mechanism', and the notion of `social group' are developed and illustrated by reference to a study of solar physics and a study of the development of the bicycle. The paper concludes by setting out some of the terrain to be explored in future studies.

Abstract:Our contribution looks at a specific case of academic discourse, that of the positioning of various scientific discourses within social and media spheres. More specifically, we examine how concepts used in the Social and Human Sciences (SHS) are discursively constructed by members of different scientific fields. Our approach is thus "cross-cultural" in the sense that we are analyzing discourses stemming from different (sub-) disciplinary cultures. We consider the case of the (co-) construction of scientific concepts within the specific context of a radio broadcast involving a philosopher (the interviewer) and a sociologist (the interviewee). During the discussion, several concepts are introduced by the interlocutors ("understand vs. explain", "recognition", "the subject", "ethics", "norms".), which are defined, redefined, exemplified, etc. We scrutinize some discursive phenomena through how the philosopher and the sociologist build upon, (co-) construct and reformulate each other's definitions and ideas, as well as their own. This is complemented by an analysis of the various positions taken by the interlocutors as well as their interaction strategies in creating their lines of thought. The ultimate goal of the article is to attempt a description of a type of academic discourse which is understudied.

Abstract:This article aims to illuminate how social constructivism has evolved as a mainstream international relation (IR) paradigm within a short period of time. To be specific, I navigated core tenets of constructivism in terms of its ontology, epistemology, and methodology, respectively. I also explored the growing body of constructivist empirical research and ensuing theoretical refinement as well as the strengths and weaknesses of a constructivist approach. Through these discussions, this article argues that constructivist approaches, since its emergence, have hugely contributed to the development of the study of IRs, providing novel insights and distinct ways of understanding of social and international reality with its own added value, by focusing on the role of ideas, identity, and norms in shaping state preferences and world politics.

Abstract:The new communication technologies have introduced a new dynamics in the sciences: in addition to the (local) context of discovery and the (global) context of justification, a third context of mediation enables scholars to reflect on the sciences as discursive constructs. As against the philosophical perspective, the communication perspective on the sciences enables us to proceed to the operationalization. One can, for example, expect the variation of scientific communications as knowledge claims in manuscripts. These knowledge claims are selectively organized in journals, and the disciplinary structures in the relations among journals can be used to visualize the latent dimensions of coding into specialisms and disciplines. The reconstructions in texts rewrite the sciences so that new words are needed or existing words (e. g., " force" in Newtonian and Aristotelian physics) are provided with new meaning. Thus, an evolutionary dynamics -restructuring from the perspective of hindsight -is added to the historical perspective following the arrow of time. From this perspective, the epistemological status of the sciences is changed, and an empirical philosophy of science can be envisaged. The different disciplines and interdisciplines can be expected to develop by exploring possible configurations of the three contexts.

Abstract:Constructivism embodies the fundamental spirit of modern and early modern Western philosophy and the basic character of Western social and political activities.It can be understood in either a narrow or a broad sense.The former is Rawls's political constructivism; the latter is the general method of modern Western political philosophy.Based on reason,this philosophy establishes,through constructivism in the broad sense,its basic ideas and views,procedures,examples and models,as well as fundamental norms and principles and essential structures and institutions related to society and the state.An inherent conflict can be found in constructivism in the narrow sense.Constructivism in the broad sense is a synthetic and systemic methodology that is compatible with methods like intuitionism.Furthermore,deontological theory is inevitably constructivist and so to some extent is utilitarianism.

Abstract:For the last two centuries the relationship between philosophy and science have constantly been an issue that provoked vehement quarrels. Positions in theses quarrels are mostly based on a relatively narrow cultural and theoretical horizon. It is rather likely that an uncompromising stance would be represented by an advocate of positivism. Meanwhile an alternative standpoint is not only possible but also quite desirable. The question of self-determination of philosophy cannot be solved by any of the answers about its attitude to science, since the grounds on which such an answer is based (various historical, national and general cultural attitudes) are significantly different. The severity and regular recurrence of such disputes are to be taken as symptoms of the fact that some fundamental questions are raised here concerning the nature of both science and philosophy. This means, in particular, that such disputes could never stop, but will constantly serve as an instrument of self-consciousness and self-determination of both philosophy and sciences. It is shown that the these disputes are caused by heterogeneous reaons: a) radicalization of the question of the scientific nature of philosophy and the foundations of knowledge in German idealism; b) processes of separation of areas of knowledge, i.e. the separation of science and art; c) involvement in science of wider social strata, as well as changes in the organizational forms of science itself. However, the results of these transformations were quite apparent not until the second half of the 19. Century and have been preceded by a long tradition of synonymy between “sciences” and “arts” that is partly reflected in the concept of “artes liberales”. Strong identification of philosophy with the study of nature in the British tradition gives us another example of a disputed and controversial relation.

Abstract:This article reviews the Contribution of the Philosophy of Science in Scientific Research and Social Life, which is a form of qualitative research and literature study or Philosophy of Science library research. The results of this literature review article show that: (1) History records that philosophy has bridged the change from mythcentric to logocentric, the change from thinking patterns based on myth and superstition to thinking patterns based on science (logos). This change in mindset has proven to have far-reaching implications for civilization. Nature and its phenomena that were previously feared are then studied, researched, and even exploited. From these investigations of natural phenomena, various theories and scientific findings were found that explain the changes and phenomena that occur, both in the universe (macrocosm) and in the human world (microcosm). (2) The influence of knowledge in the course of philosophical life from century to century, from myth, anthropos, and then to theos (theology/dogma) and changed to logos. That is the journey of the philosophy of knowledge to become a philosophy of science which later gave birth to the sciences of astronomy, cosmology, physics, chemistry, and so on. Meanwhile, from the investigation of the human microcosm, the sciences of biology, psychology, sociology, and so on have developed. Over time, these sciences have developed to become more specialized and increasingly produce technologies that have a direct and broad impact on civilization and human life. (3) The philosophy of science itself contributes to scientific inquiry and in human life, especially These sciences then develop into more specialized and increasingly produce technologies that have a direct and broad impact on civilization and human life. (3) The philosophy of science itself contributes to scientific inquiry and in human life, especiallyknowledge in the form of deductive reasoning related to empirical and positivist (qualitative) and inductive reasoning with rationalism, constructivist and critical (qualitative). Although rationally science compiles its knowledge consistently and cumulatively, empirically science separates knowledge that is in accordance with facts and that which is not. Therefore, before being empirically verified, all rational explanations put forward are only hypothetical. (4) In addition, the philosophy of science has also substantially, methodically and relevantly provided a new paradigm in scientific research as well as for human life, namely; Positivism Paradigm, Constructivist Paradigm, and Critical Paradigm. These three paradigms are very important for a researcher who will compose a scientific work, be it a thesis, thesis or dissertation or other scientific paper.
