Abstract:A development module of network-based virtual instrument technology intended to be used for inspecting the performance of vehicle was presented. G web server provided by NI company helped achieve the web issue of vehicle inspection front panel. Meanwhile DataSocket technique helped achieve data transfer through internet. LabVIEW and web technology were combined to realize the remote control of vehicle inspection to meet the needs of clients. The system has been proved to be quite effective in performance examination of vehicle, such as brake horsepower, speed, noise, lamplight, smoke intensity and the weight of every axle.

Abstract:This paper proposes a novel control strategy based on network for power electronics system. The definition of networked control is presented in control through network and control of network. According to the actual situation of power electronics, network selection and communication mechanism are presented. By means of the communication cell, standardized data stream of control loop and characteristics of network- induced delay through communication, some concepts of control through network is described. After the rough estimation of network-induced delay of all kinds of network during the transmission process for data of power electronics, the strategies of networked control for power electronic systems are presented by different MAC and topologies, which embody the essence of control of network.

The design of the system is based on embeded system and field bus. The system has many advantages used in industry such as multi\|channel, network, practicability and high capability to cost ratio. With the operation of the system in practice for three years, the results show that the design of the system is successful and the system can be widely used for monitoring the condition of rotating machinery.

Abstract:Control delay holds a significant impact on the quality of control (QoC) of a networked control system (NCS), degrading QoC and even causing system instability. With an objective of performance optimization through minimizing control delay, an event-driven approach to NCS design is proposed. The function block model defined in IEC61499 is extended and employed as the component for constructing event-driven NCS. Effective design principles integrating the scheduling methodology of pipelining are presented The NCS design for a DC servo system illustrates the proposed design principles. The impact of control period on QoC is visualized, and the optimal working range of control period is obtained. The QoC of NCS is measured by a general performance criterion. Simulation results for performance evaluation show that our approach leads to better QoC than the sequential system does.

Abstract:A megawatt (MW)-scale hydro-viscous transmission-based continuously variable speed wind turbine is proposed to guarantee a smooth transition among different operating regions and hence to improve power efficiency and quality. This turbine is achieved by highly integrating a hydro-viscous element into the turbine drive-train to mitigate the upstream wind-loading fluctuations. This element allows the turbine speed to be directly regulated by continuously changing the oil film thickness in this element. Three important operating modes of this turbine system are proposed. The control-oriented drive-train model is also established and validated based on experimental data. A cooperative control strategy over the full operating range is then proposed based on such modes. A series of comparative cosimulations are carried out to evaluate the stability and effectiveness of the proposed turbine system in speed and power regulations. This proposed system holds several advantages such as large power capacity, high efficiency, downsized power converters, and low cost. Such advantages make this turbine system particularly attractive and promising for medium-to-large-scale wind power applications.

Abstract:A wind turbine is the most typical machine used to capture energy from the wind. The system design goal of a wind turbine is to obtain as much energy as possible from the wind while transmitting as much of that energy to the grid as possible, all under the highest possible level of stability. Currently, many inherent weaknesses result in a high failure rate in common commercial wind turbines with gear drive systems. To improve the performance, in this study, a typical 1.5 MW gear transmission was redesigned into a novel hydromechanical transmission system (HMTS). Parameters related to the HMTS efficiency were analysed to ensure that the efficiency was relatively high. The variable speed ratio (VSR) and torque triple absorption (TTA) principle were thoroughly deduced. Moreover, a MATLAB/Simulink- AMESim cosimulation model was proposed, and a 30 kW proportional prototype was established. Both simulation and experimental results show that the structural design and proposed control strategies meet the design goals, including a relatively high transmission efficiency around the rated wind speed, speed control below the rated wind speed, and torque control above the rated wind speed. These achievements should guarantee the future application of the novel transmission system in wind turbines.

Abstract:In order to deal with some unsolved problems in the engineering prototype design of a new electromagnet drive device for nuclear reactor control rod, the property experiment in view of principle prototype was carried out. Actual displacement of nuclear reactor control rod was measured by means of raster ruler and the test data is obtained by means of computer. The computer communicates with PLC using RS232 serial port. The experimental results show that the monitoring system have the properties of high reliability and high precision, and ensures the experiment to accomplish successfully.

Abstract:Electro-rheological fluids (ERF) are smart materials showing good controllablity in their micro-structure and mechanical strength with an external electric field. In this study, a prototype of a cylindrical ERF coupling was fabricated, and its transmission capability in steady and unsteady running conditions was investigated. The torque transmitted by the coupling with viscous force in wide ranges of driving speed and field strength voltage was measured. Relationship between the transmission torque, the zero field viscosity of ERF and the shear yield stress of ERF under field was obtained, and compared with theoretical prediction. Moreover, by modulating strength of the applied DC field, under certain load and input speed, the output speed conditions of the coupling could be controlled. This provides a new means to construct transmission systems in which output speed could be conveniently adjusted and controlled.

Abstract:Electrorheological (ER) fluids can change their rheological properties when subjected to an electrical field. By using ER fluids as the working medium in fluid power systems, direct interface can be realized between electric signals and fluid power without the need for mechanical moving parts in fluid control unit. The pressure drop and flow rate can be directly controlled through the change of applied electric fields. This paper investigates the design and controllability of ER fluid power control system for large flows. The design criterion for an ER valve is proposed and four ER valves are manufactured based on this criterion. A fluid control unit consisting of an ER valves bridge circuit is constructed, the characteristics of which are theoretically and experimentally investigated. The results show that the ER fluid control units have better controllability for fluid power control.
