Abstract:Abstract Investigations using laboratory test benches are the most common way to find the technological solutions that will increase the efficiency of internal combustion engines and curtail their emissions. In addition, the collected experimental data are used by the CFD community to develop engine models that reduce the time-to-market. This paper describes the steps made to increase the reliability of engine experiments performed in a heavy-duty natural-gas spark-ignition engine test-cell such as the design of the control and data acquisition system based on Modbus TCP communication protocol. Specifically, new sensors and a new dynamometer controller were installed. The operation of the improved test bench was investigated at several operating conditions, with data obtained at both high- and low-sampling rates. The results indicated a stable test bench operation.

Abstract:This paper designs the diagnosis strategy for OBD system oxygen sensor degradation and the relevant test on engine bench is made by oxygen signal generator. The engine emission influence due to oxygen sensor degradation is analysed. Based on the structure and sensing principle of zirconia type oxygen sensor, the mechanism of oxygen sensor deterioration is analysed, and some proposals are put forward to prevent oxygen sensor degradation.

Abstract:The On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) is the new generation technology throughout the world after in-use vehicles Inspection/Maintenance program. The aim of OBD is to make sure whether there is a certain part malfunction that results in the exhaust gas pollutants exceeding the prescribed limit.So it is necessary to introduce OBD2 into the domestic market.This paper represents the concept,regulation,technical characteristic,and limitation of OBD.Clearly, it is a huge challenge to carry out OBD2 in the automobile market of China.So it brings forward the requirements of OBD2:the fuel oil quality has to be improved throughout the country,and the domestic automotive industry have to be well prepared.Finally,it lists a 4-stepp suggestions for carrying out OBD in China.

Abstract:A portable automotive emission analyzer under National IV Criteria(GB 18352.3-2005)is designed based on ARM micro controller.It is used for analyzing motor vehicle exhaust gases.The analyzer is powerful,easy-to-use and convenient for real-time detection and dynamic display.National IV Criteria is realized in the embedded system.And fuzzy classification method is used to support combustion analysis and fault diagnosis.Experiment results demonstrate the excellent analysis performance of the system.

Abstract:As a crucial part of EVs, BMS (battery management system) should increase its self-diagnostic function to meet higher safety requirements. On the other hand, OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics-II) has been adopted by most of auto makers for its good capability and standardization. This paper presents a new battery system combined with OBD-II and BMS, which greatly increases the system safety and reliability. The hardware and software are developed, and the protocols for diagnosis and communication are proposed. Experiments with battery packs show that the new system achieves its design goals.

Abstract:Heavy-duty diesel vehicle is an important source of nitrogen oxides and particulates in the atmosphere. The remote OBD system combines OBD technology with wireless communication technology to send the vehicle operation data, emission status and fault information to the regulatory authorities, so as to realize the whole life-cycle emission monitoring of heavy-duty diesel vehicles. At present, the main research directions regarding the data analysis of the remote OBD system for heavy-duty diesel vehicles include high-emission vehicle identification and fault diagnosis, tampering detection of aftertreatment system and analysis of vehicle performance characteristics under real-world driving conditions. This paper summarizes the research progress in the above three directions. The key issue of high-emission vehicle identification is to identify whether the vehicle emissions comply with emission regulation requirements based on the NO_x concentration data and limited vehicle status data provided by the remote OBD system. The key issue of the tampering detection of aftertreatment system is how to balance the accuracy and complexity of the tampering detection algorithm. The analysis of vehicle performance characteristics under real-world driving conditions provides an important reference for the formulation of emission regulations and the upgrading of powertrain technology.

Abstract:A diesel engine combustion analysis and control system based on a developed combustion analysis tool and with the Ethernet communication was established.Real-time cylinder pressure information was acquired every 0.2 crankshaft angle and sent via the Ethernet of user datagram protocol(UDP) to a combustion analysis and control software, by which combustion indexes were calculated and sent to the engine control unit(ECU) in which closed-loop combustion control was applied with these combustion indexes.A verification test made on a 1.9L diesel engine demonstrates that this combustion analysis and control system successfully acquires real-time cylinder pressure information, provides combustion indexes, and has the ability to control engine combustion.

Abstract:A transient emission measurement system with VMAS is set up. The advantages, components and theory of VMAS are introduced. Twenty tests were made when the experimental vehicle was running in the best emission condition. In this paper, the system's stability is discussed based on test results. The VMAS' stability is great, and the data detected with VMAS can reflect the real situation of vehicle emissions. Then the importances are discussed about adoption the VMAS testing method for emission inspection of in-use petrol vehicles in China.

Abstract:The rapid development of electronic techniques in automobile has led to an increase of potential safety hazards, thus, a strong on-board diagnostic (OBD) system is desperately needed. To solve the problem of OBD insensitivity to manufacture errors or aging faults, the paper proposes a novel multi information fusion method. The diagnostic model is composed of a data fusion layer, feature fusion layer, and decision fusion layer. They are based on the back propagation (BP) neural network, support vector machine (SVM), and evidence theory, respectively. Algorithms are mainly focused on the reliability allocation of diagnostic results, which come from the data fusion layer and feature fusion layer. A fault simulator system was developed to simulate bias and drift faults of the intake pressure sensor. The real vehicle experiment was carried out to acquire data that are used to verify the availability of the method. Diagnostic results show that the multi-information fusion method improves diagnostic accuracy and reliability effectively. The study will be a promising approach for the diagnosis bias and drift fault of sensors in electronic control systems.

Abstract:Based on ECU platform of MC9S12XEP100 single chip microcomputer,the fault diagnosis interface wad developed according to ISO 15765.The interface communicated through CAN bus and had the functions of authority control,fault management,real-time monitoring,vehicle testing,Flash programming and OBD mode.The results show that the interface can meet the fault diagnosis requirements of China Ⅲ diesel engine and bring support for the development,testing and calibration of diesel engine.

Abstract:The aftertreatment system is necessary for developing diesel engine with emission level from Euro Ⅲ emission legislation to Euro Ⅳ emission legislation.Modeling and simulation of aftertreatment system are important steps in the Euro 4 diesel engine control system development process.In the paper,the development status of aftertreatment system was introduced,and then the aftertreatment system model including diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) and diesel particulate filter(DPF) for diesel control system was developed and built according to energy conservation and principle of chemical dynamics.After that,the model was tested through hardware-in-loop simulation and the regeneration strategy for DPF was analyzed.

Abstract:A set of real-time motor vehicle monitoring system is designed according to the requirement of domestic personal users and industrial users on real-time vehicle status, driving habits and fault detection. Vehicle OBD terminal acquires fault codes, location, speed and other data based on OBDII&EOBD protocol, and establishes communication with a J2EE Web server using GPRS, where the data will be analyzed in order to make diagnosis on the fault state of the vehicle, and collect statistics on vehicle status, driving habit and conditions of the driver. The final result of vehicle detection and statis-tical analysis will be shown on the client Web page, or iOS/Android mobile handheld device. According to the error condi-tion of the vehicle, driver can be able to build connection with garages using this system. It will provide reference and data support for the driver's traffic safety and facilitation, as well as the area of traffic management and insurance.
