A Study of Su Shi’s Inscriptions

Abstract:As a rare master in the literary history,Su Shi has always been studied by many scholars. However,their studies have often been focused on the aspects of poetry and prose,and his inscriptions have received little attention. This paper explores Su Shi’s inscriptions from three aspects, including complex relationship between his inscriptions and other styles like notes and postscripts;the literariness of Su Shi’s inscriptions on imagination,language and allusions;the thoughts of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism and the clear life realm in Su Shi’s inscriptions. There are bright features in those aspects of Su’s inscriptions, which finally make his inscriptions achieve high levels of literariness and ideology. And all of these have a lot to do with Su Shi’s unique creative ideas and life experiences.
