Abstract:Water hydraulic technology is one of the most important growing branch of hydraulic technology world wide. The advantages, main application fields and recent developing situation for water hydraulics in the world are briefly introduced. A series of successful research results about water hydraulic technology at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, which come out of more than ten years research and development, are also presented in this paper. In face of the opportunities and challenges of developing water hydraulics, several opinions and advices on whether water hydraulic technology should be and how to be developed in China are proposed.
