Abstract:The key features of manufacturing today are globalization, regional specialization, and multi-agent cooperation. The traditional network technologies have difficulties in meeting these demands in the new manufacturing environment, but the latest Grid technology provides new solutions. The development of Grid technology will significantly affect manufacturing. As a new manufacturing model, the Manufacturing Grid is emerging. Process management is an important aspect of manufacturing. In this work, a Grid-based cooperative process management system (GCPMS) was developed to cope with the complexity of worldwide production in the Internet environment. The following main modules are developed in the system: (1) the enterprise cooperation modelling module, (2) the project-management module, (3) the task-management module, and (4) the process-monitoring and control module. GCPMS benefits the dispersed institutions by creating a virtual project team to work together for a long-term project and effectively manage the cooperative process in manufacturing. The broader cooperation, application integration, and resource sharing are emphasized in the system. The open and standard interfaces bring GCPMS flexibility and scalability.

Abstract:In make-to-order (MTO) production, various parts from different product structures may share similar processes. However, traditional production scheduling in the MTO environment considers only similarity of due dates but little process similarity. Different from traditional scheduling, aggregating the similarities of due dates and production processes, a group-based production scheduling approach is proposed. Group-based production scheduling takes order groups as scheduling units and part groups as scheduling objects to minimize the total manufacturing lead time in a planning period. Besides, a group based matrix and a production capacity constraint estimation method are proposed for formulating scheduling constraints. To ensure the quality result, a tabu search based algorithm of production scheduling is proposed. Results of a case study reveal that the group-based method can reduce the manufacturing lead time because of the reducing of processing set-up efforts.

Abstract:Networked manufacturing is a trend of manufacturing industry and Application Service Provider (ASP) is its mainstream mode. In order to solve the current questions of networked manufacturing, grid technology was put forward as a feasible approach to reform the networked manufacturing system based on ASP; considering the characteristic of grid technology, a new design constructing manufacturing grid system for ASP mode was presented, and then the application architecture and the technology architecture of this system were investigated intensively. Application architecture was composed of user layer, application service layer, grid middleware layer and grid resource layer, technology architecture was composed of fabric, connectivity, resource, collective and application, and integrated Globus Toolkit with them. Finally, an application case was given. The research, development and implementation of manufacturing grid system for ASP mode provide a realizable solution for manufacturing industry. As a result, the competitive ability of enterprise would be promoted. © 2006 IEEE.

Abstract:To resolve problems of managing the information of products, process, and equipment resources and realize the match between the manufacturing tasks and manufacturing resources by the core-company in networked manufacturing environment, the matching framework of manufacturing task and resources is proposed. Firstly, the P-P-R model based on the ontology is constructed to describe information of product processing characteristics, the processing technology and equipment resources. The P-P-R mapping relationship is established. Secondly, the match of the networked manufacturing tasks and resources is realized by using the extension theory. Finally, the prototype of the networked manufacturing resource deployment is developed. An example verifies the effectiveness of the method, thus overcoming the differences between Web described manufacturing resources and achieving heterogeneous data in a unified platform. It is effective for improving the efficiency of inter-enterprise collaboration.

Abstract:The purpose of manufacturing is to realize the requirement of customer. In manufacturing process of cloud system, there exist a lot of resource services which have similar functional characteristics to realize the requirement. It makes the manufacturing process more diverse. To develop the quality and reduce cost, a resource configuration model on cloud-manufacturing platform is put forward in this paper. According to the generalized six-point location principle, a growth design from the requirement of customers to entities with geometric constraints is proposed. By the requirement growing up to product, a configuration process is used to match the entities with the instances which the resources in the database could supply. Different from most existing studies, this paper studies the tolerance design with multiple candidate resource suppliers on cloud manufacturing to make the market play a two-level game considering the benefit of customers and the profit of resources to give an optimal result. A numerical case study is used to illustrate the proposed model and configuration process. The performance and advantage of the proposed method are discussed at the end.

Abstract:In the paper two resource constrained single-machine group scheduling problems with time and position dependent processing times are considered. By time and position dependent processing times and group technology assumption, we mean that the processing time of a job is defined by the function of its starting time and position in the group, and the group setup times of a group is a positive strictly decreasing continuous function of the amount of consumed resource. We present polynomial solutions for the makespan minimization problem under the constraint that the total resource consumption does not exceed a given limit, and the total resource consumption minimization problem under the constraint that the makespan does not exceed a given limit, respectively.

Abstract:Collaborative product development needs the wider support of web manufacturing resources. A network-oriented resource service system and its key implementing technologies are presented in this paper. The manufacturing resource information is achieved through web search engine and processed with semantic description. The system also realizes the Internet-based cooperative development environment and web resource bases including web parts library as well as distributed knowledge repositories. Finally, an application case is introduced, which promotes the networked cooperative design and collaborative manufacturing of tire mould. It preliminarily demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of this Internet-based resource service pattern for product development.

Abstract:Networked manufacturing oriented cooperative CAPP system has become one of the hotspots of research and application. Abstract:In order to realize rapid response to manufacturing needs and provide with the most ideal manufacturing cloud services(MCS),a dynamic clustering optimization approach for multi-granularity MCS is proposed.An analytical framework is given to organize manufacturing cloud services in the order of granularity scales through the decomposition of manufacturing needs,thus the cloud resource pool is filtered for the first time.A multi-objective model based on total cost,service quality and delivery time is constructed and solved by Epsilon-SPEA2 so that Pareto optimal solutions can be obtained.An improved TOPSIS technique is employed to assess the solutions which represent the clustering schemes,thus the best clustering scheme can be selected.A practical example related to a project in mould industry is given to validate its effectiveness and feasibility.
