Abstract:A simple and low-cost solution for interleaver used in optical communication, based on multi-cavity Fabry-Perot optical thin film filters, is presented. The analyses on this kind optical interleaver reveal the influencing factors that would affect the thin film interleaver performance, including the cavity's spacer thickness, ambient temperature variation, dispersion for the refractive index of deposited material depending on wavelength and the numbers of cavity that is important for passband flatness and isolation. The interleaver achieved to 100GHz-spaced channels, at wavelength around C band, with adjacent channel's cross-stalk less than —25dB and the minimum insertion loss nearly 0.4dB or so.

Abstract:In this paper, new transmission schemes are proposed to deal with the CCI (co-channel interference) in wireless relay transmission. We first introduce an optimal decoding process to fully utilize the information forwarded by relay. Then based on conventional transmission schemes, two modified transmission schemes and a novel adaptive scheme are proposed. Furthermore, we derive the outage probabilities and throughput for all the proposed schemes in closed form. Numerical simulations are presented to validate the analytical results and it shows that the adaptive scheme improves the spectral efficiency significantly compared to others in most condition.

Abstract:Digital interleave in conjunction with Forward Error Correction (FEC) is an efficient method to deal with burst errors on data transmission. This paper introduces a mathematical idea of permutation replacement into convolution inter-leaver. Based on this view-point a new construction to realize the convolution inter-leaver which is similar to the T-switch in programming control switch machine is presented. The method is simpler than that in Ga scheme, but the effect is the same.

Abstract:Cell-edge users suffer from harsh interference due to cell range expansion in a heterogeneous network. An information theoretic approach, namely the joint decoding, can in principle achieve the sum-capacity, but practical implementation remains a challenge. For example, a rate splitting (RS) scheme is an optimal alterative for multiple access channels, but it is not optimal for interference channels. This motivates us to develop a new technique. In this paper, a practical scheme called multi-layer rate splitting (MLRS) is introduced. We prove that this MLRS scheme can achieve the sum capacity when the interference channel satisfies certain conditions. Moreover, a power allocation algorithm is proposed to find the optimal power splitting ratios for the MLRS scheme. Simulation results show that the MLRS scheme is an effective alternative to exploit the benefit of the joint decoding for interference channels.
Theory and Implementation of Pre-Filtered Equalizer

Abstract:A new equalizer called pre-filtered equalizer is presented. It comprises a pre-filter and an adaptive equalizer. With the efficient algorithm of correlation estimation, time delay and amplitude of all multipath have been known. Then the parameters of the pre-filter are calculated with the help of the algorithm of multipath separation. The aberrance is reduced after the received signal pass through the pre-filter. At last, the remainder of ISI(intersymbol interference) is compensated by the adaptive equalizer. As the result shows, pre-filtered equalizer has greatly improved performance compared with conventional equalizer, and it can compensate the subpath whose amplitude is equal to that of the mainpath.
Interleaver Design Based on Phase Characteristics of Fabry-Perot Cavity

Abstract:A novel method for designing the interleaver applied in DWDM optical communication is presented. This passive component combines the nonlinear phase feature of the reflective beam within F-P cavity and the linear periodic phase characteristic of the beam at certain propagation difference with the frequency. The performance could satisfy the DWDM's requirement when those two phase-matched beams interfered. The theoretic model is simulated using the characteristic matrix of thin film. The result is calculated and analyzed, and the feasibility of this kind of design is demonstrated.

Abstract:It is well known that Turbo codes can approach Shannon limit, that is due to the using of interleaver which changes the weight distribution of the output Turbo codes. Therefor, Selecting a good interleaver can increase Turbo code's minimum distance and decrease the number of low weight codes,accordingly, the perfect performance of Turbo codes can be obtained. In this paper, the design of interleaver for Turbo codes based on convolutional codes is examined, and a scheme is proposed using (37,21)RSC as constituent code. The scheme is generalized to Turbo codes based on common RSC. Then the influence of proposed interleaver on the distance spectrum of Turbo codes is analyzed. And the choice of constituent codes is discussed when using the proposed interleaver. It is obvious that the scheme proposed will take effect at the bit error rate 10-5.

Abstract:In this paper we evaluate the use of parallel interleavers for user separation in coded IDMA systems. The parallel interleavers have previously been evaluated for uncoded systems, and we here present extended results for the coded case. The new results are important for real systems, as they will most likely use performance enhancing channel coding. The parallel interleavers are designed to remove the risk of memory access collision during interleaving. These problems may occur when the interleaving process is being parallelized in order to support parallel processing at the decoder. The results show that the degree of parallelization in the interleaver design has an insignificant effect on the considered coded system performance. Furthermore, our results also show that the use of parallel interleavers gives a performance that is similar to that obtained when using random interleavers.

Abstract:High-speed, low latency turbo codes require the parallel decoder architecture. As a key part of the decoder, the interleaver also should have a parallel structure that can avoid collisions in accesses to storage elements, and also keep excellent BER perfor-mance. In this paper we propose an interleaver structure that is very suitable for parallelization of turbo decoders, based on the struc-ture of A. Giuliett’s principle of collision-free interleaver design. It is shown that such an interleaver can be designed to have good BER performance as well. By this structure fast decoders with very low latency can be built, and the throughput of the decoder can be improved by about10 times. This design of interleaver can be used in the Beyond 3G system.

Abstract:A novel designing method for optical interleaver based on cascaded solid thin film Fabry-Perot filter is presented. It's easy to control the thickness of the spacer of the device when employing the fused quartz as the material of the spacer, so the thin film interleaver can meet the demand of the narrow wavelength gap for the DWDM system. The analysis on how to ascertain the thickness of the spacer, the numbers of thin film Fabry-Perot filters and the match of the reflective index of each Fabry-Perot filter's mirrors are given. The experimental result is coincident with the designed one well. The device achieves to 100 GHz spaced channels, at wavelength around C band, with adjacent channel's cross-stalk less than -24 dB and the minimum insertion loss nearly 0.4 dB or so.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a parallel interleaver design for interleave-division multiple-access (IDMA) systems. The advantages of our approach are the low complexity induced from an algebraic solution and the parallel processing with negligible performance degradations against random interleavers. It is specially suitable for parallel implementation of multiple user detections and decoding of IDMA signals, resulting in efficient improvements of system throughput. Simulation results show that the parallel interleavers perform as well as the random interleavers in an IDMA system.

Abstract:A three-layer interleaver scheme, which is added into TD-SCDMA specification for the compatibility with satellite environment, is proposed for 3G mobile satellite communication systems. Simulation results for satellite channel are presented, which demonstrate that the third interleaver can improve the system performance significantly and satisfy the demands. The proposed interleaver design also provides the theory basis for researching upper layer protocol and transplanting TD-SCDMA specification to satellite environment.

Abstract:This paper proposes a new method which uses the Cross Gain Modulation (XGM) in the Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) to realize optical interleaving. Different from the traditional optical wavelength interleaving, the proposed optical interleaving is the interleaving of codes. Three modules and theoretical analysis are presented, and an experiment is designed to validate these kinds of optical interleaving modules.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a novel iterative scheme for exploiting transmit diversity using parallel independent Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) channels. In this adaptive iterative scheme, we use EXtrinsic Information Transfer (EXIT) chart tool to choose appropriate iterative method from Iterative Combining (IC), used as parallel concatenation turbo-like scheme, and Turbo Equalization (TE), used as serial concatenation turbo-like scheme. It is show that the proposed iterative scheme provides excellent performance both analytically and through simulations without any compute complexity increase comparable to IC.

Abstract:The control IC play an important role in the inverter.An IC scheme for integrate of the invert is presented in this paper. The interleaving technique is applied in this IC to reduce the scale of the circuit. And the scheme is realized in an inverter prototype with the FPGA. The simulation and the experiment proved the system is stable.

Abstract:A new bit-wise interleaver is introduced for multi-user orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems using frequency hopping. In addition to placing adjacent bits (belonging to one complex I/Q symbol) onto different subcarriers, they can be placed at different timeslots or different blocks. Furthermore, the interleaver can be adjusted adaptively based on the corresponding hopping pattern, The performance gain is investigated by simulations.

Abstract:This paper designs a interleaver which is used in Ultra Wide Band(UWB) system.The interleaver is based on the structure of two port Random Access Memory(RAM) and address generator,it can be compatible with standards of Multi Band-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(MB-OFDM) and Dual Carrier-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(DC-OFDM).To compare with the interleaver applied to only one standard,this interleaver just increase 4.5% and the registers increase 1.8%.The main clock frequency is 132 MHz and the max throughput is 1.42 Gb/s,and it meets the requirement of UWB system.

Abstract:Overlapping-image multimode interference couplers with two-dimensional confinement, a new class of devices, permit uniform and nonuniform two-dimensional power splitting. Based on self-imaging effect, positions, intensities and phases of the overlapping-images are analyzed. The overlapping-imaging properties in multimode interference couplers with two-dimensional confinement are also concluded. And the guided-mode propagation analysis method is used to confirm the analytical results.
