Abstract:Objective To survey the influences of diabetes,hypertension, gender on cardiac structure and function in type 2 diabetic patients.Methods 160 recepts including 80 cases of type 2 diabetic patients and 80 cases of healthy control were divided into eight groups according to gender blood sugar and blood pressure. Echocardiography, multiple variance analysis and three factors analysis were performed. Results Left atrium (LA), interventricular septal thickness(IVST), left ventricular posterior wall thickness(LVPWT) were affected by diabetes, hypertension and gender, respectively and by the different combinations. No influence on ejection fnaotion(EF) and left ventricular internal diameter at end diastole(LVIDd) were shown by the three factors in this study. Conclusion Not only diabetes, hypertension and gender have effects on cardiac structure respectively, but also the diabetes and hypertension; diabetes and gender have interact between them. This can be explained by the metabolic and hormonal changes in these patients acting directly or indirectly on the remodeling of the heart.
