Abstract:Absolute rotation and translation matrixes from unconstrained movements of multiple 2D coplanar planes are converted to relative ones respective to the reference view of the camera. A virtual 3D object is simulated using the reference position of the plane and the relative matrixes. It avoids the shortcoming , which movements of multiple 2D coplanar planes are performed by special equipments in order to compute successfully parameters of camera, of traditional 3D simulation. A calibration method based on the principle including pinhole model and nonlinear model is applied to the constructed 3D object and the simulated result shown that the proposal method has higher accuracy.

Abstract:The calibration of a camera remains an important problem in computer vision. Camera Calibration of integrated CMM and visual system is studied in this paper. At first mathematic model of visual sensor is formed. Then by wiping off yamp and using edge extraction, the coordinate of the head of CMM on the image can be got. And a quick and flexile calibration method is realized. The experiment proves the method is feasible.
Multi-camera Calibration Based on Multi-view Registration Algorithm

Abstract:Camera calibration is a key technology in computer vision,and multi-camera calibration is the inevitable step towards an efficient use of multi-camera systems. For multi-camera systems,a method based on multi-view registration is proposed. A planar model with known reference points placed at a few different locations is only required as a calibration object. Using constrained optimization method,each camera coordinate system can be translated into reference camera coordinate system,and thus can get the relative positions between them. The experimental results show that the method is practical in multi-view calibration.

Abstract:Camera calibration is the process of calculating the parameters of camera imaging model,which is a basal problem in computer vision.On the basis of analyzing the camera imaging model,a new calibration technique was proposed in this paper.The technique uses Zhang's planar calibration algorithm and OpenCV library in Visual Studio 2005 to complete calibration.The experimental results showed that the proposed technique is not only simple and effective,but also has high calibration accuracy,so it can be widely applied in most computer vision areas,such as 3D reconstruction and virtual reality etc.

Abstract:Camera calibration is a key technology in computer vision field, in which self-calibration is to compute camera intrinsic parameters only from a series of images. The Kruppa’s equations method not only needs to compute the fundamental matrix which includes all of the geometricaly relation between images, but also needs to compute the epipoles which variate with the different images. Hartley deduced a simple form of Kruppa’s equations in terms of fundamental matrix. The goal of this paper is to convert the equations into the form of cost function according to the Hartley’s deduction and calculate the cost function by the sum of fundamental matrixes multiplying the corresponding weighting factors that are related with the number of matching features.The genetic optimal algorithms are used to obtain the minimum value of the cost function. Our algorithm doesn’t require computing the images epipoles so that it avoids the instability of the results and reduces the calculation burden. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is more effective and accurate and can become a versatile tool for camera calibration,which will be used in our cameras array calibration.
Improvement of Two-step Calibration Method in Machine Vision

Abstract:In the machine vision we must establish the imaging geometric model of the camera and its parameters which are measurement parameters of the camera in order to determine the geometry coordinate of relationship between points in the spatial three-dimensional model and corresponding ones in the image.And this process is called as camera calibration which can be classified to two categories: the traditional method of camera calibration and camera self-calibration method.As one of the most common traditional method,two-step calibration method uses grid board to calibrate camera.In the calibration,the majority of calibration parameters will be obtained by solving analytical equations set,and then use the iterative solution to obtain other parameters,but there need multiple images at different locations at the time of calibration.The paper show an improvement of the traditional two-step calibration method.In this method we use two calibration images which are perpendicular with each other and obtain a single image which includes two perpendicular calibration images,and then use the two-step calibration method to establish the required internal and external parameters of the camera.The results of calibration show error is less than 0.7% and meet the requirements.

Abstract:Multi-camera calibration parameters are needed in free-viewpoint video system to obtain virtual viewpoint. Most existing calibration technologies are for single camera and further research is needed for multi-camera calibration. A multi-camera calibration method based on 2D plane calibration algorithm combined with stereo vision calibration is proposed in this paper. Camera intrinsic parameters can be obtained using 2D plane calibration algorithm. Through transforming the world coordinate system, the unique extrinsic parameters are got. The validity of the proposed method is verified by experiments.

Abstract:In the large-scale vision measurement of the industrial field, it needs to not only build the high quality image acquisition system, but also calibrate the camera precisely. This paper proposes a camera calibration method based on 3D target, which consists of multiple planes with large viewing angle and range. Based on Zhang's calibration method, multiple intermediate coordinate systems are used to unify the vision sensor to the preset global coordinate system. The singular value decomposition method is adopted to solve the rotation matrix, when the external parameters are fused. Numerical experiments show that this method has high precision and stability.

Abstract: The calibration of image center is necessary in computer vision. It is divided into two categories in this paper, one is independent of other intrinsic parameters, and the other is not. Category I is further devided into 3 groups, and Zhang’s method is taken as an example in category II. The theory and experiments of each method are given. Through comparison of different methods, the characteristic of each calibrated method is also discussed. The results provide the readers a reference to select or advance calibrated methods according to different applications, requirements and experimental conditions.

Abstract:Most camera calibration methods assume that the camera is nearly in-focus for precisely estimating the intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters. However, the camera is generally out-of-focus in real calibration applications. This paper presents a method that is capable of accurately calibrating an out-of-focus camera. A confidence-based camera calibration with modified census transform (MCT) is proposed for a checkerboard calibration pattern. No additional devices or special calibration targets are required. First, the MCT utilizes the intensity information and local image structure to construct a descriptor. Then, the dissimilarity between the control point on the real image and the one on the sharp image is evaluated using the Hamming distance. This similarity metric is treated as the confidence of each control point. Finally, the confidence of each control point is added to the calibration energy minimization procedure to enhance the calibration performance. The experimental results on real images demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a more accurate calibration result than conventional methods.

Abstract:Camera calibration is an important step for vision-based measurement applications. A well-known flexible camera calibration method is analyzed that uses the checkerboard pattern plane and in which the camera can be moved freely. When using a perspective projection camera model, characteristics of both the objective plane and the image plane are utilized and accurate results can be obtained. However, the method's results may fail when the rotation angles of the planar pattern are small, and the distortion coefficients obtained under the perspective projection model can not be used for a real-time vision application. We solve the ill-conditioned equations using the genetic algorithm, and the correct camera parameters are always obtained. We compute the distortion coefficients of the inverse projection model, which can be used for general vision applications. The influence of the corner detection precision is taken into consideration. Simulation shows that the best results may be obtained when the planar pattern is placed in a close range and its rotation angle is small. Simulations and real-world experiments illustrate that the improved calibration algorithm can always obtain robust and accurate results. (C) 2008 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. Abstract:On the basis of Tsai's[Tsai R Y. A versatile camera calibration technique for high-accuracy 3D machine vision metrology using offthe-shelf TV cameras and lenses [J]. IEEE Journal of Robotics and Automation RA, 1987, 3(4): 323-344.] camera calibration model, the base data are required as the input to the calibration arithmetic. This paper put forwards a method of automatic camera calibration, including no false corner detection in calibration board image, homologous corner mapping in 2D and 3D space, and the fulfillment of the whole calibration process. The accomplishment of the method is based on LabVIEW.
Geometric Wide-Angle Camera Calibration: A Review and Comparative Study

Abstract:Wide-angle cameras are widely used in photogrammetry and autonomous systems which rely on the accurate metric measurements derived from images. To find the geometric relationship between incoming rays and image pixels, geometric camera calibration (GCC) has been actively developed. Aiming to provide practical calibration guidelines, this work surveys the existing GCC tools and evaluates the representative ones for wide-angle cameras. The survey covers camera models, calibration targets, and algorithms used in these tools, highlighting their properties and the trends in GCC development. The evaluation compares six target-based GCC tools, namely, BabelCalib, Basalt, Camodocal, Kalibr, the MATLAB calibrator, and the OpenCV-based ROS calibrator, with simulated and real data for wide-angle cameras described by four parametric projection models. These tests reveal the strengths and weaknesses of these camera models, as well as the repeatability of these GCC tools. In view of the survey and evaluation, future research directions of wide-angle GCC are also discussed.

Efficient Calibration Method for Vision Navigation Camera

Abstract:Aiming at the camera calibration in vision navigation system of mobile robot,this paper proposes an efficient method of camera calibration.The radial distortion and tangential distortion is taken into account.Hough transform is applied to extract the checkboard corners,and initial values of camera parameters are obtained.Levenberg Marquardt algorithm is used for nonlinear iteration optimization.The corners are reprojected to the rectangular checkboard,the corners extracted are compared with Hough transform,and the causes of error are analyzed.The results show that this method of anti-noise ability is strong,and the experimental conditions are relatively low.The precision completely satisfies requirement of actual navigation,which is suitable for camera calibration of mobile robot.

Abstract:This paper presents and comparison two stereo vision sensor calibration methods: Volume template based calibration method and the calibration based on virtual stereo pattern. First method use a premade volume template. Second method use a group of random spatial points that are formed by an infrared LED moved with the probe of CMM. Two methods adopt an ideal pin-hole model that ignores the nonlinear distortion of the cameras. Through compare two calibratioin methods, we can draw conclusion that the first method can be applide to stereo sensor calibration in measurement field and the second method could gain higher calibrating precision.

Abstract:The image calibration based on homography matrix method is studied.The key problems of this method are edges detection and looking for their intersections.A new automatic edge detection method is put forward to the calibration of license plates.The method obtains the edges of pictures and their intersections through merging,sorting and ranging based on Hough transformation automatically.For problems result from different proportions of length and width,the analysis and relative processing are given.Simulation result shows that this method has good performance as well as preserving the convenience of homography matrix calibration.

Abstract:The task of camera calibration is to estimate the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of a camera model. Though there are some restricted techniques to infer the 3-D information about the scene from uncalibrated cameras, effective camera calibration procedures will open up the possibility of using a wide range of existing algorithms for 3-D reconstruction and recognition. The applications of camera calibration include vision-based metrology, robust visual platooning and visual docking of mobile robots where the depth information is important.

Abstract:Camera calibration plays an important role in 3 D measurements, computer vision, and robotics. This paper analyzes the camera model and proposes calibration methods based on the two stage method and bundle adjustment. Both simulated experiments and real data were used to verify the methods. The calibration pattern is easy to manufacture and the control points can be identified and matched automatically. Lens distortion is considered in the calibration, and the calibration accuracy is 1∶ 10 000 , satisfying the demand of high precision 3 D measurements.
