Abstract:Taking advantages of the modular nature of Linux, a set of Linux modules were improved to make Linux run on various SoC. The module improvement was including: developing a target-specific bootloader, designing a memory management module for the MMU-less processor, real-time improvement in scheduling module and organizing a small footprint file system for the flash memory. These modules can be reassembled on demands, catering for different boards and applications. Moreover, methods for developing embedded Linux are concluded, including tool chains and debug techniques. Case studies on two hardware platforms, based on ARM720T and M68K respectively, shown that the work satisfies application requirements.

Abstract:With the foundation of real-time, fault tolerant, standard compatibility,a standard for embedded real-time OS was suggested, which included embedded OS architecture, supported hardware, schedule management, memory management, inter-process communication, timer performance, network support, file system, driver development and debug and so on. Also a detailed analysis and comparison for major embedded real-time operating systems was given,and it can be a good guide to select the best embedded real-time OS for the application situation.

Abstract:RT-Linux is a hard real-time operating system that coexists with the Linux OS. In this paper, a new embedded insulation on-line monitoring system based on RT-Linux is presented and discussed. The system is composed of two parts: the data acquisition module and the kernel module. There are two sub modules in the kernel. One is a real-time data module, the other one, which serves as a cron module, is in charge of communicating with the remote client and managing the data transmission. A browser is also developed by which remote control and real-time observation can be implemented.

Abstract:Using the self-designed embedded wireless network measurement and control platform as application object, this paper puts forward and takes three real-time measures improving system followed. The first step is to transplant μ C/OS-II, strong real-time operating system to improve the real-time response speed of the master node of the network center; the second step is to adopt the time-limited communication scheduling strategy of the nodes to reduce the waiting and delaying time of most nodes of the network. The third is to open the DuoCeiver mechanism to ensure that the urgent nodes are preferentially able to get service. The running results demonstrated these means are feasible and have effectively improved system's real-time capability.

Abstract:With the development of real-time operating system (RTOS),its applications become more and more abroad in digital systems.Compared with the Foreground/Background control-software structure,the control software based on real time kernel of RTOS will worsen the real-time performance,especially a digital controlled power electronic systems,which demand high real time performance.Taking an implementation of variable-frequency power supply as an example,the real time performances of these two software structures is discussed,the causation of the performance decline when using the real time kernel,and then gives some methods to improve the decline.

Abstract:The traditional OBSM method in spacecraft and other real time embedded system is to re-compile the whole system after source code modification, and then reboot the target machine with the new version software. This hurts the availability of the system. Most of the new methods are based software or hardware redundancy.
