Abstract:F there does not have enough support as a means of reactive power sources, the modern power system voltage instability will occur. Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Power Grid is load center in North China, the region's power supply relies heavily on its long-distance and heavy-load interconnection of other power grids. At the same time the region does not have sufficient dynamic reactive power support, so the voltage stability problems may be far more serious than power angle stability problems. In order to solve these problems, while improving power system stability, we study the control strategy for this real power grid. All the problems of the research we have adopted the means of whole-process power system transient simulation. In this paper, the methods of switching high-voltage controllable reactor are researched, which are more flexible to alleviate voltage instability, and the methods are also more convenient to coordinate with other conventional control methods. With the North China Power Grid simulations under the serious faults, results show that the method is effective. Finally, how to improve power system stability control method is proposed. Suffered the same fault in the power grid, the method can reduce the capacity of load rejection. © 2011 IEEE.
