Abstract:【Objective】To investigate the factors that might affect the quality of breast cancer surgery.【Methods】The patients who received breast cancer surgery by the same team in a thyroid and breast unit from a university hospital in 2011 were retrospectively analyzed. All of the relevant data were input to the website of NQMBCTM and compared with the database input by other centers and the percentile of this center was obtained.【Results】The average time between core needle biopsy and initial breast cancer surgery was 5.0 days and this result lies in the95 th percentile of all centers; the needle biopsy rate is 85.7% and is in the 49 th percentile; the percent of sentinel node biopsy is 83.3% which is in the 42 nd percentile; the percent of overall breast conservation surgery is 80.0%which is in the 76 th percentile; the re-excision rate of post breast conservation surgery is 0 and the rate of post lumpectomy radiation is 94.3%, which result in the 100 th percentile and 50 th percentile respectively. 【Conclusions】NQMBC is a good tool to evaluate the quality of breast cancer surgery. Some aspects of quality of our patientsu0027 breast cancer surgery are comparable to that of American centers. In order to improve the quality of breast cancer surgery, the rates of needle biopsy and sentinel node biopsy should be increased.
