Abstract:In this paper, an online measurement and error compensation system for curve grinding based on pattern recognition was presented and verified by experiments. The measurement system organization and its principle of operation were introduced in detail. The work piece and grinding wheel image were sampled at certain positions to avoid spark influence. In order to increase system resolution, images were sampled only at local areas of the work piece and grinding wheel. A discrimination technology based on a circular tolerance zone was proposed which can solve the problem of local image edge comparison. For image de-noising, a local threshold algorithm was applied to determine new wavelet coefficients. Furthermore, a two-step edge detection method was used to realize sub-pixel precision. Finally, a series of experiments were carried out to examine the detection precision of the image measurement system and its influencing factors. From experiments, it can be said that the proposed method in this paper is effective, and its detection precision is much better than traditional methods.

Abstract:Profile grinding is widely used for precision machining of curved parts, such as tools and molds. Traditional methods are manual-dependent and struggle with autonomous measurement and compensation of contour errors. This paper introduces a novel method for the direct measurement and compensation of contour errors in large-size profile grinding. A new image stitching algorithm for complex smooth curves is proposed, enabling robust image registration in low-feature regions. Furthermore, an approach for on-machine sub-pixel detection of contour errors is investigated, and an in-situ compensation algorithm for contour errors is designed. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves high-precision stitching with minimal overlap, significantly improving contour error measurement. The compensation algorithm optimizes the tool path and implement the online compensation of the full contour errors during secondary machining, effectively improving the machining accuracy of curve parts. Additionally, a negative correlation between the number of image stitches and machining accuracy is revealed, and the possible explanations are discussed. The impact of various factors on machining accuracy will be further investigated in future studies.

Abstract:Influenced by scaling?off cutting, to the mass produced rods and steel tube blank, the phenomena of burr and flashing are found. If the parts are processed by manual chamfering and lathe, it is tremendously labor intensive and low efficiency. To solve the problem, an efficient double?headed automatic chamfering machine was designed based on PLC control. The structural components of the chamfering machine were introduced , the gas?liquid control diagram and the electric control schematic figure including the flow chart of software programming were described in detail. The practices have proven productivity and end quality are improved greatly be?cause the chamfering machine can be used to realize double end continuous processing although loading once.

Abstract:In order to improve workpiece measurement automation and accuracy,a non-contact automatic measurement system based on universal tool microscope was designed.System image denoising,edge detection,sub-pixel positioning algorithms have been studied;First,high-precision gratings were installed on the vertical and horizontal rails with the grating signal acquisition card collecting vertical and horizontal grating signal,and the computer data processing for the integer part of the measured object size measurement;.The workpiece detection eyepiece and eyepiece vertical and horizontal position readings were installed on the test piece and the vertical and horizontal readout CCD,image processing,the measured size after the fractional part;then,the final measurement results are marked with two dimensions from the drawing in AutoCAD display..Experimental results show that: the system has high precision,and the actual high-precision requirements of measurement are met.

Abstract:Based on the introduction of a principle of numerical profile grinding method,this paper develops a kind of open CNC system.The hardware and software structures were constructed.The CNC multithreading mechanism was analyzed.The fusion of numerical control with image processing,and the compensation of machining error based on visual axes were discussed.Finally,the simulation experiments were conducted.The results verified the feasibility of the open CNC control system.

Abstract:Rolling Imprint Lithography is an Enabling Technique for the Mass Production of Ultra-Precision Micro-Structured Surfaces which are Widely Used in High Value Added Optical Products such as Backlight Guides for Display Devices. the Accuracy of the Produced Micro-Structured Surfaces Relies Heavily on the Master Roller of which Quality is Difficult to be Controlled by Traditional Off-Line Measurement Process due to the Large Dimension and Heavy Weight of the Workpiece. this Paper Presents a CCD Based Non-Contact Measurement System to Perform the on-Machine Measurement of the Structure Pattern on Machined Rollers. Instead of Measuring each Single Structure on the Roller, the System is more Focused on the Characterization of the Conformance of the Structure Pattern with the Designer’s Requirement. Low Angle Monochromatic Light is Used to Extract the Structure Pattern on the Machined Roller Using a High Magnification Objective Lens with a High Resolution CCD Sensor. the Image Processing Techniques are then Employed to Characterize the Captured Image Based on the Designed Pattern Structure. the Developed System has been Mounted on a Single-Point Diamond Turning Machine to Measure the Machined Structured Roller, and the Results Indicate that the Developed Measurement System is Able to Perform the on-Machine Measurement and Characterization of the Structure Pattern of the Machined Roller with Sub-Micrometre Accuracy.

Abstract:The problem of machining error online monitoring and compensation method is studied,and the machining error online monitoring and compensation method is proposed which takes numerical control forming gear grinding machine as the research object.The relative position of work piece and tool is important for machining precision during machining process.One can get the relative position by testing the built-in signal which include encoder and direct encoder signal.In the proposed method,the space trace of machining is calculated from the built-in signal which is processed by the homogeneous coordinate transformation.The main factors that bring out the machining error can be determined by analyzing the processed built-in signal,and compensated into the numerical control system by online real time method.The proposed method is implemented on a numerical control forming gear grinding machine to improve its precision.Compared with the coordinate measuring machine test result,the proposed method can detect the form of the machining error.After compensating,the tooth alignment machining error is lowered obviously.

Abstract:Aiming at the problems of grinding wheel wear during high-speed cylindrical grinding, communication delays, and slow response during data acquisition, processing, and system operation, an intelligent online monitoring technology frame for CNC manufacturing units is proposed, incorporating a real-time-perception grinding mechanism and a cloud-edge device. Based on the grinding data and grinding wheel wear mechanism, a monitoring model using multi-sensor information fusion is constructed to assess the grinding wheel wear state. In addition, edge data acquisition and online monitoring software have been developed to improve the speed of data transmission and processing. Finally, based on the proposed framework, a cloud-edge device collaborative intelligent monitoring system for assessing grinding wheel wear during high-speed cylindrical grinding of bearing rings is constructed. It improves the grinding quality and efficiency, reduces the grinding cost, and incorporates remote control functionality.

Abstract:Monitoring system is an economic and effective method for quality control in automatic manufacturing. The complexity of the grinding process asks higher requests on the monitoring system compared with conventional ones widely used in heavy industry. The paper is dedicated to monitoring techniques in precision grinding. Existing monitoring methods centering round single grinding process quantity are talked about. Multi-sensor fusion is the only way to improve monitoring reliability. Under the frame of the intelligence grinding system, a two-layer in-process monitoring system for precision grinding machine is brought forward to realize quality control, machine healthy maintenance, wheel life expiration judgment and parameters optimization.

Abstract:A system for high precision measurement of cutting tools is described .The tools are backlit by incandescent lamps. Images are acquired from a digital camera and are trasmitted into a computer through USB interface. The image analysing programs extract the profiles of cutting tools using Zernike orthogonal matrix algorithm and calculate geometrical parameters accurately, which are outputed from a serial port . Zernike orthogonal matrix algorithm is described in detail.The analyse is for real data indicates that this system has a precision of 4 μm.

Abstract:In ultra-precision machining, the accuracy of a workpiece can be generally improved by surface measurement and compensation machining. Since on-machine surface measurement can avoid the errors caused by repositioning workpieces and use the machine axes to extend the measuring range, there has been a trend from offline measurement to on-machine measurement in recent years. However, the workpiece surfaces inspected by on-machine measurement system in previous studies generally have small slopes and depths. In this paper, an on-machine measurement device based on a chromatic confocal sensor is designed, which can inspect workpiece surfaces with larger slopes and depths. The on-machine measurement system and measurement procedure are introduced first. A nonlinear least squares method is then used to further reduce the adverse influence of the alignment error between the axes of the sensor and the spindle of the machine tool. Finally, machining and measuring experiments of the spherical and free-form surfaces are performed using a Nanotech 650FG ultra-precision machine lathe to validate the proposed on-machine measurement method. The profile pattern and the form error obtained from the on-machine measurement device are compared with those obtained from a Taylor-Hobson 3D stylus profilometer. There is good agreement between the two results, which verifies the effectiveness of the proposed on-machine measuring method.
