Abstract:Three methods of deriving the conservation laws of classical constrained mechanical systems are described in this paper. They are the method of Newton mechanics, the method of analytical mechanics and the symmetry method. And some future developrnents related to the conservation laws are presented.

Abstract:Determination of underconstrained systems using traditional theory may cause a nonconservative solution or even lead to error. The fundamentals of the concept and general formulations for kinematic path are derived such that they can be used for determination of both elastic deformation and change in geometry experienced in underconstrained systems. The condition of orthogonality is used such that the existence of such a space having the property of the general loads orthogonal to geometric displacement is thus proved. Numerical examples in the literature are used to verify the proposed methods. The efficacy of the proposed procedures implemented in engineering application is finally demonstrated under erection simulation.

Abstract:The current structure-preserving theory, including the symplectic method and the multisymplectic method, pays most attention on the conservative properties of the continuous systems because that the conservative properties of the conservative systems can be formulated in the mathematical form. But, the nonconservative characteristics are the nature of the systems existing in engineering. In this letter, the structure-preserving approach for the infinite dimensional nonconservative systems is proposed based on the generalized multi-symplectic method to broaden the application fields of the current structure-preserving idea. In the numerical examples,two nonconservative factors, including the strong excitation on the string and the impact on the cantilever, are considered respectively. The vibrations of the string and the cantilever are investigated by the structure-preserving approach and the good long-time numerical behaviors as well as the high numerical precision of which are illustrated by the numerical results presented.

The course of the study can be described as local classical solutions, solutions with fan-shaped wave structure, solutions with flower-shaped wave structure, global solutions and mixed type equations. According to this line, we introduce main results obtained in recent decades, and present some open problems and difficulties.

Abstract:By introducing the generalized quasi-symmetry of the infinitesimal transformation for transformation group G(tau), this paper studies the conservation laws and symmetries of dynamical systems with unilateral constraints in phase space. Noether's theorem and Noether's inverse theorem for mechanical systems with unilateral constraints in phase space are obtained and two kinds of equivalent forms of generalized Killing equations which are used to determine the generators of the infinitesimal group transformation are given.

Abstract:Using a form invariance under special infinitesimal transformations in which time is not variable, the non-Noether conserved quantity of the holonomic mechanical systems with variable mass is studied. The differential equations of motion of the systems are established. The definition and criterion of the form invariance of the systems under special infinitesimal transformations are studied. The necessary and sufficient condition under which the form invariance is a Lie symmetry is given. The condition under which the form invariance can be led to a non-Noether conserved quantity and the form of the conserved quantity are obtained.

Abstract:The study of multi-time-delay dynamical systems has highlighted many challenges, especially regarding the solution and analysis of multi-time-delay equations. The symmetry and conserved quantity are two important and effective essential properties for understanding complex dynamical behavior. In this study, a multi-time-delay non-conservative mechanical system is investigated. Firstly, the multi-time-delay Hamilton principle is proposed. Then, multi-time-delay non-conservative dynamical equations are deduced. Secondly, depending on the infinitesimal group transformations, the invariance of the multi-time-delay Hamilton action is studied, and Noether symmetry, Noether quasi-symmetry, and generalized Noether quasi-symmetry are discussed. Finally, Noether-type conserved quantities for a multi-time-delay Lagrangian system and a multi-time-delay non-conservative mechanical system are obtained. Two examples in terms of a multi-time-delay non-conservative mechanical system and a multi-time-delay Lagrangian system are given.

Abstract:Aim To study the conservation laws of the mechanical systems with secondorder nonholonomic constraints. Methods Using the Jourdain's principle Nσi=l(Fi-mir̈i) .δi= 0, introducing the Jourdain's generator (δlqs)=∈Fs(t, q, q), (δlt) = ∈f(t, q, q) and the generalized Chetaev's definition nσs=l∂ψβ/ ∂q̈s- δlqs=0 to obtain the condition of in variance under the infinitesimal transformations. Results If the generator f, Fs satisfies some conditions, the conservation laws of the system can be obtained. Conclusion The corresponding results of the holonomic systems and the systems with first-order nonholonomic constraints are extended and the conservation laws of the systems with second-order nonholonomic constraints exist also.

Abstract:We have studied the relationship between the conservation of energy and Newton's second law or equations of motion. Differently from recent works, we show that equations of motion can be obtained only in some special cases and their results are distinct in general. This distinctiveness makes it possible to find the more fundamental law experimentally.

Abstract:Noether’s theorem is generalized to the theory of coupled fields with parameters in this paper. Considering that many problems in continuum mechanics have Lagrange densities which are linear combinations of convolution integrals on a parameter of their arguments, the condition of stationary value of these functionals is discussed. Following the thought of Noether’s theorem, the author reveals some relations among the invariants of the functionals mentioned above under a family of infinitesimal transformations, variational principles and conservation laws. In addition, two conservation laws for thermo–elasticity are established.

Abstract:This paper studies the symmetries and conserved quantities of mechanical systems with nonholonomic constraints in extended phase space.The systematic differential equations of motion are established.The criteria for Noether symmetry,Lie symmetry and Mei symmetry are given,and the relations among three symmetries are researched.Two types of new non-Noether conserved quantities--Hojman quantity and Mei quantity,for the mechanical systems with nonholonomic constraints in phase space are obtained,and the intrinsic relations between symmetries and conserved quantities are explored.At the end of this paper,an example is given to illustrate the application of the results.

Abstract:In this paper symmetries and conservation laws for stochastic dynamical systems are discussed in detail. Determining equations for infinitesimal approximate symmetries of Ito and Stratonovich dynamical systems are derived. It shows how to derive conserved quantities for stochastic dynamical systems by using their symmetries without recourse to Noether's theorem.

Abstract:Conservation laws are formulated for systems of differential equations by using symmetries and adjoint symmetries, and an application to systems of evolution equations is made, together with illustrative examples. The formulation does not require the existence of a Lagrangian for a given system, and the presented examples include computations of conserved densities for the heat equation, Burgers' equation and the Korteweg-de Vries equation.

Abstract:This paper studies the construction of conservation laws for the Birkhoffian systems with unilateral constraints by using the approach of integrating factors.Firstly,the definition of integrat-ing factors for the differential equations of motion of the systems is presented.Secondly,the neces-sary conditions for the existence of conserved quantities of the systems are studied in detail,and the relation between the conservation laws and the corresponding integrated factors is established,and the generalized Killing equations by which the integrating factors can be determined are pro-vided.Finally,the inverse problem is studied with an example given to illustrate the application of the results.

Abstract:This paper focuses on a new symmetry of Hamiltonian and its conserved quantity for a system of generalized classical mechanics. The differential equations of motion of the system are established. The definition and the criterion of the symmetry of Hamiltonian of the system are given. A conserved quantity directly derived from the symmetry of Hamiltonian of the generalized classical mechanical system is given. Since a Hamilton system is a special case of the generalized classical mechanics, the results above are equally applicable to the Hamilton system. The results of the paper are the generalization of a theorem known for the existing nonsingular equivalent Lagrangian. Finally, two examples are given to illustrate the application of the results.
