Abstract:In order to achieve good motion simulation results and meet the requirements of precision control, several key technologies and application were discussed, such as precision control of oil temperature, reducing air content, online measurement of bulk modulus of hydraulic oil and maintaining stability of oil supply pressure. Experimental research was carried out on the hydraulic driving system of comprehensive test bed for docking mechanism. The experimental results showed that the method used for oil temperature control through proportional water valve could achieve precise control of oil temperature, the method used for online vacuum degassing in closed hydraulic system could effectively improve bulk modulus of hydraulic oil, and the method used for pressure control in big flow changes was good.

Abstract:Water hydraulic systems use water instead of oil as a pressure medium,so well keeping the water quality for long time is the foundation of making water hydraulic system run reliably.The differences between the requirements for tap water and those for water in water hydraulics were contrasted.With the help of water treatment technique,the potentially bad influence of water on water hydraulic system and the corresponding solutions were discussed in the aspects of impurity,erode,sediment,microbe and system cleaning.A recommended water quality parameter was given for water hydraulics and an example on how to clean a water hydraulic system periodically was described.

Abstract:The demand of hydraulic parallel motion system of space rendezvous and docking simulator to its hydraulic system is high flow and high performance. To achieve good motion simulation results and meet the requirements of precision control, a method of self-tuning parameters fuzzy PID control of proportional water valve opening has been employed to control oil temperature, a method of online vacuum degassing in a sealed system has been used to increase oil effective bulk modulus, and a device has been developed to measure oil bulk modulus online. Experimental research has been carried out on the hydraulic driving system of comprehensive test bed for docking mechanism. The experimental results show that precise control of oil temperature has been achieved and bulk modulus of oil has been increased obviously.

Abstract:This paper is to study on a novel recovery and release hydraulic hybrid system for excavators (HHE). The HHE uses hydraulic accumulators to recover the potential energy of the boom, the kinetic energy of the swing motor and the overflow hydraulic energy of the excavator’s main relief. The recovered energy is then utilized through a variable hydraulic motor as assistant power of the engine. The key issue of the HHE is that the operation of the boom must be similar to the conventional one about the sensing of the driver and the system must achieve higher efficiency and save more energy when comparing with the conventional system. In order to improve the recovery efficiency and while controlling the boom velocity with the similar operation, one design concept named “microcut” is proposed. When the boom drops down fast, a proportional valve is used to control the boom. While the boom goes down slowly, the recovery system is cut off. Then, the multi-way valve of the original system works to ensure good handling. An experimental prototype is designed and built in a 21-tons excavator. A 16% fuel-saving effect is obtained by weighing engine’s fuel consumption with the same amount of work, under conditions of the similar operation and higher efficiency compared with the conventional excavator.

Abstract:Mobile hydraulic systems are developed toward better control performance and higher energy efficiency. Pressure compensators, which govern the pressure drops over the control orifices, are widely used in multiactuator systems to improve their operability. However, additional energy is also dissipated in the compensators especially under the overrunning load conditions. This paper presents a novel energy-saving system, where the compensator is designed as a regeneration device consisting of a hydraulic motor and an electric generator. Then, hydraulic energy can be regenerated and pressure compensation function is realized by adapting the electromagnetic torque of the generator to the load as well. The close-loop control of the generator is designed by effective pressure drop estimation. The proposed energy-saving system and controller are implemented on an experimental platform of hybrid excavators which is equipped with an electric energy storage device. The experimental results show both good control performance and significant energy-saving effect.

Abstract:This paper studies a novel energy-saving hydraulic system, where a regeneration unit consisting of a hydraulic motor and an electric generator is used to take the place of a conventional pressure compensator. Thus hydraulic energy can be regenerated rather than dissipated in the compensator while load compensation function can be realized by adapting the electromagnetic torque of the generator to the loaded pressure. Modeling of the system is implemented and a simple feedback controller is designed based on pressure drop estimation. The proposed system and control algorithm are applied to an experimental platform of hybrid hydraulic excavator which is equipped with electrical energy storage elements. The experimental results show that expected control performance and significant energy saving can be obtained.

Abstract:Single-screw hoists are widely used in plane gate of various types of small and medium size hydraulic projects(sluice,dyke-dam,channel,tunnel,culvert,etc.) with many advantages,such as compact structure,operation safety,low cost,and easy installation and maintenance.While there are many problems in the practical use,such as the dead weight,the limited span,instable gravity,blocked downside,and screw bending.Dual-ball bearing screw hoist can eliminate the disadvantages of single-screw hoist in effect,and reduce the extent of vibration which produced by the gate in higher water head operation condition,which makes the gate on or off more safely and reliably,and the equipment more durable.

Abstract:In this paper, double closed-loop mathematical model ofhydrostatic transmission system with secondary regulation is established. A contrast study is carried out on single and double close-loop control systems. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that better control results can be achieved with double closed-loop control system than single one due to improving the damping ratio of the system.

Abstract:The secondary regulation hydrostatic transmission technology is applied to the wheel excavator walking device to improve the fuel economy and emissions. A new braking control strategy is proposed based on the analysis of the characteristics of excavator braking and high power density of hydrostatic transmission technology. As to deal with the robust control problems against parameter uncertainty and load disturbance, Sliding mode control method based on the combinational approaching rate is used to design the controller of hydraulic pump/motor. Finally the simulation results shown that brake control system reasonably distributes the front and rear torque, regenerative braking torque and traditional friction braking torque, effectively regenerates braking energy under the premise of safety brake.

Energy-saving Technology of Variable Counterweight and Its Energy Consumption Analyses

Abstract:To solve the disadvantages of high energy consumption and low efficiency in hydraulic lift system,an innovative energy-saving technology of variable counterweight is proposed. The energy-saving concept is given and the working principles of two kinds of variable counterweight system are introduced,namely variable hydraulic counterweight and mechanical counterweight with variable speed. And the system applying the variable hydraulic counterweight is discussed in detail,including the installed power,the energy consumption,the efficiency and the poor working condition. Compared with the conventional variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) hydraulic system,the installed power and energy consumption of the system with variable hydraulic counterweight decreases by 67% and 35% respectively,and the efficiency increases 30%,which means the system saves energy remarkably. Then the problems of the system are discussed,mainly involving efficiency,dynamic response and so on,and the solutions are presented. Finally,the development of the variable counterweight technology is prospected.

Abstract:The direct-drive hydraulic pump suffers the disadvantages of large displacement and difficulty of manufacture. This paper thus proposes a hybrid power transmission technology that utilizes a single-stage gear transmission and low-speed hydraulic pump. The transmission technology reduces the displacement of the hydraulic pump and retains the torque-stable feature of a hydrostatic transmission. This paper designs the basic structure of a hybrid power transmission system and constructs the system model using the AMESim and MATLAB software. Under the grid-connected circumstance, the variable-speed constant-frequency control algorithm when the wind speed is below the rated value and the pitch control algorithm when the wind speed is above the rated value are simulated and analyzed. A 20-kW prototype has been developed. The simulation and the experimental data demonstrate that a hybrid power transmission meets the demands in various working conditions and stabilizes the torque of a wind turbine generation system.

Abstract:A new concept of static-hydraulic system with secondary regulation was proposed,extending the coupling concept from the pressure coupled system to the flow coupled system.The basic configuration,the working principle and the characteristics of the flow coupled system with secondary regulation(FCSSR) were introduced and the differences between FCSSR and the traditional pressure coupled system with secondary regulation and between FCSSR and the traditional flow coupled system were analyzed.A mathematical model was established for FCSSR,and the test was performed.Test results indicate that FCSSR can recover and reuse the potential energy of the weight and realize the power matching among the electric motor,the hydraulic accumullator and the load.

Abstract:As wind turbines become larger and move into deeper sea, their operating environment worsen. The torque fluctuation inside the drive chain is aggravated, which leads to the premature failure of the wind turbines. To improve the transmission stability of wind turbines, the mechanical-hydraulic hybrid transmission system (MHHTS) has been applied. However, existing research has issues with structure and hydraulic control. An MHHTS structure was proposed to meet the requirements of structural simplicity and high efficiency, corresponding to the design principles summarized in the article. Based on this structure, we have selected a hydraulic control mode, the constant displacement pump variable displacement motor (CPVM), that satisfies the reasonable utilization of displacement and the stability of control. This mode was chosen by comparing the displacement and pressure variation rules of three hydraulic control modes that meet the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control principle of the wind turbine. In this study a co-simulation model of a 10 MW MHHTS wind turbine was built using Simulink and AMEsim. The correctness of the structural and control mode ware verified by co-simulation with a uniformly varying wind. Moreover, a method that can suppress fluctuations in output power by controlling the motor displacement was proposed. Different-step winds response analyses were conducted to explore the relationship between the displacement response speed and the output power fluctuations. The non-linear relationship between the displacement and the wind speed can also have an impact on the previous relationship. Finally, the feasibility of the control method was verified through simulation of an actual turbulent wind. These achievements should guarantee the future application of the novel transmission system in wind turbines.
