Abstract:A novel activated carbon coating fiber for solid phase micro-extraction (SPME) was firstly prepared by using silica resin adhesive and activated carbon powder. The surface structure, thickness and extraction properties of the novel activated carbon coating fiber were investigated through the application to Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, p-Xylene, o-Xylene (BTEX). The results showed that this coating fiber could work stably, even at high temperature of 290 ℃, and the life time was over 140 times at 250 ℃. The minimum micro-extraction concentration for BTEX is from 0.21 to 0.94 μm/L. The adsorption characteristics of the coating fiber is compatible with that of the commercially available polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) coating fiber from SUPELCO Company for BTEX.
