Abstract:The Digital City is a multi-resolution, multi-scale, multi-space and time, multi-kinds description of a city in three dimensions with techniques such as 3S, telemetry, simulation and Virtual Reality (VR) based on such techniques as computer, multimedia and large-scale storage, and taking the wide band web as vinculum. By this technique, the modern city's information can be collected, collated and generalized,and the complete spatial data model can be established on the geographical coordinate system so as to facilitate each person's acquaintance of the past, present and future of the city rapidly, entirely and visually through the web. At the present time, studies on Digital City at home and abroad make no substantive advancement, but still remain at building hardware and software conditions, or at most, at the preliminary stage of the study. The paper mainly probes into the key techniques such as Virtual Reality, Urban Spatial Data Infrastructure, integrated model study of many kinds of GIS systems, 3D-GIS, the urban planning in three dimensions, city simulation and digital society supported by VR and Digital City, etc.

Abstract:The recent rapid urbanization in China requires a strong support of information technology and systems. This has stimulated a fast development of digital city in China. On the basis of an analysis of the technical components of digital city, this paper examines the major problems existed in data platform, integrated services and cross-sector application. Three research directions are discussed, including the data integration, fast acquisition and updating, data clearinghouse and information service, integrated applications cross-sectors.

Abstract:Large amount of data which is applied in urban planning research work can be obtained from modern space technolgy, such as urban land use, urban traffic, urban population density and distribution, layout of buildings and their density, etc.. These data can be made to a virtual model of planning based on the way of digitalization and network, form which people can find useful information of a certain city. Abstract:In the past,the cognition of urban space was carried out mainly from the different aspects of the physical dimension.However,with the development of digital technology,the virtual dimension has also become an important perspective of spatial cognition in the field of urban planning,and the evolution of technology has an effect on the virtual-physical relationship of urban space.Based on the analysis and comparison on the characteristics of different digital technologies and the characteristics of space under the influence of them,this paper points out that the virtual-physical space has emerged due to the changes of XR technology in the contents and methods of interaction,and the virtual-physical space is characterized by visibility,three-dimensional sense of space,and real-time interaction with the physical environment.The paper further analyzes the different virtual-physical relationships of urban space under the influence of digital technology,including the transfer of physical space to virtual space,the extension of virtual space in physical space,the supplement of virtualphysical space to virtual space,and the coordination of physical space to virtual-physical space.Among them,the virtual-physical space has an impact on regional connection and urban public space.The virtual-physical relationship of future urban space will put forward new requirements for the urban planning and design:the dual attributes of urban space as both virtual and physical space will bring dual requirements to planners,and the interaction between the virtual and physical urban space will change the urban planning and design process.As the impact deepens,it is necessary to discuss how to protect the physical space and standardize the design,storage,and use of virtual space and virtualphysical space,and to pay attention to the changes in social relations and socio-economic development.

Abstract:The nature of mankind is longing for better residential environments. City, as a major living style, has never stopped exploring more comfortable urban modes. The main stream of city development theory resulted in 'eco-city'. Recently a new concept, digital city, was push forward with the hot tides of IT technologies. However there is few research linking these two concepts together. This paper tried to explicit the affiliation and comparable elements between these two concepts. It overviewed the recent research achievements on both eco-city and digital city. It pictured an integrative prospect of digital city and eco-city on the point of view from urban sustainable development with IT technologies widely applied. It proposed a fundamental technological framework of the integration of digital city and eco-city. It finally concluded that the integration of eco-city and digital city is the future of sustainable urban development.

Abstract:This paper investigates the concept of digital city. First, a functional analysis of a digital city is made in the light of the modern study of urbanism; similarities between the virtual and urban constructions are pointed out. Next, a semiotic perspective on the subject matter is elaborated, and a terminological basis is introduced to treat a digital city as a self-organizing meaning-producing system intended to support social or spatial navigation. An explicit definition of a digital city is formulated. Finally, the proposed approach is discussed, conclusions are given, and future work is outlined.

Abstract:Internet, computer technologies and geoinformatics bring the human to the time of Earth, Digital cities, as the most active nerve cells of digital earth, have been constructed throughout China and the world. In this paper, some research and practice of Changzhou in the digital city construction, especially its city spatial data infrastructure (CSDI) construction, are introduced. In section1, the internal functions of databases, the associations of functions and data are analyzed, and then all kinds of data are organized. In section 2, overall design thinking of Changzhou CSDI and the design of fundamental database--the core of CSDI--is introduced. In section 34, combining with the construction and application of Changzhou CSDI fundamental database, some data characteristics of Changzhou CSDI are analyzed. Then in section 5, the last section, the deficiencies in the construction of Changzhou CSDI and some improved means are pointed out.

Abstract:There are more and more challenges in development of today's cities. Developing an intelligent, inclusive and sustainable city is the way to go in the future. On the other hand, information technology, knowledge management, innovative networks are shaping the face of our world, which makes our cities more knowledge intensive and innovation-driven. Abstract:With the development of information technology and China's urban economy, the concept of smart cities has been proposed many times. Planning and designing cityscapes are essential in the process of building smart cities. There are many factors to consider when designing and planning traditional cityscapes, and these factors must be studied in combination with modern developments and characteristics. Information technology can provide massive data support and technical support for these studies. With the support of information technology, cities and modern technology can be closely connected. This paper proposes research on digital cityscape planning and design under spatial information technology using literature methods, field survey methods, comparative survey methods, and other methods. First, we deeply study spatial information technology and theoretical knowledge of digital cityscape planning and design; then, we design a spatial gray-level co-occurrence matrix model, collect urban vegetation data maps via remotely sensed images, and finally analyze the planning and design of digital cityscapes. After landscape planning, the vegetation was rated at 38.94 points, approximately 12 points higher than the rating given before planning. This result shows that after reasonable landscape planning and design, the needs of people for green plants can be met well, and the ecological value of digital urban spatial landscapes can be fully utilized. These results are important for maintaining the diversity of urban biodiversity, regulating the regional climate, and maintaining urban spaces, and the ecological balance of the entire city also plays a vital role.

Abstract:Digital technology is one of the most important topics of research today. The rapid development of digital technology has caused major reforms in urban planning and other fields. This digital method is widely used in data collection and artificial intelligence, helping urban planners collect and analyze data more efficiently, thereby making the city operate and develop better. It also enhances citizen participation through online platforms and mobile applications, helping to build a more inclusive and sustainable city. This study mainly evaluates the impact of the combination of digitalization and urban planning, especially in terms of traffic management and public life. This article aims to explore how a combination of digitalization and urban planning can be used to create a more efficient, democratic, and sustainable urban environment. This study uses case analysis and systematic review methods to explore in depth the impact of digital technology and urban planning on urban traffic management and residents' lives. The research results show that a good combination of digital technology and urban planning transforms the efficiency of urban operations and the quality of life of residents, improves the sustainable development of the city, and enhances the efficiency and democracy of urban intelligence. This combination is expected to continue to affect the future development of the city and will bring more opportunities and challenges to urban planning.

Abstract:Many countries and governments consider smart cities a solution to global warming, population growth, and resource depletion. Numerous challenges arise while creating a smart city. Digital twins, along with the Internet of Things, fifth-generation wireless systems, blockchain, collaborative computing, simulation, and artificial intelligence technologies, offer great potential in the transformation of the current urban governance paradigm toward smart cities. In this paper, the concept of a digital twin city (DTC) is proposed. The characteristics, key technologies, and application scenarios of a DTC are elaborated upon. Further, we discuss the theories, research directions, and framework regarding DTCs.

Abstract:Smart cities are the future development direction of cities and are a comprehensive expression of the development of the organic life body of cities. The organic life form of a smart city relates to viewing the city as an organic life self-organizing system based on the wholeness and systemic nature of the smart city life form itself, to construct a holistic spatial linkage of the functions and mechanisms of the city life system, and to enhance the overall vitality of the space. This study is based on the literature of "smart city" research in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database, and the current situation and related themes of smart city research in China are discussed through co-word analysis and cluster analysis using software such as SPSS and VOSviewer, among which there are four themes in co-word cluster analysis, namely, intelligent technology supporting smart city research; research on the integration of the social system of a smart city; research on the top-level strategic design and planning and construction of a smart city; and research on the development, evaluation, and concrete practice of smart city construction. Four conclusions are drawn from the development of smart city research in China: Firstly, smart city research has attracted the attention of multiple disciplines, and the research themes are scattered and integrated across disciplinary systems. Secondly, smart city construction, development rules, and characteristics need to be further explored, and the problems, future trends, and policy support for the modernization of China's cities and towns have been focused on engineering and technology, with a lack of practical research in non-technical areas such as humanities and ethics. Thirdly, the philosophical humanism and ecological ethics of smart cities need to be systematized, and their construction and development needs to be humanistic, systematic, and comprehensive, thus contributing to the sustainability, livability, ecology, and wisdom of future urban development. Fourthly, the development of the smart city system is supported by theories related to global cities and innovative cities, and the world city, a product of globalization, is undergoing a transformation into a digital and intelligent organic urban life form.

Abstract:Formal structures of cities have been inspired by a combination of human geometry and cosmological patterns in both Eastern and Western civilizations, from early representations in mandalas to the Vitruvian Man. Cities have also been understood as a living system, a macroscopic organism, linked through its collective consciousness, communicative structure and relationship to natural resources and cycles. Like the human body or other natural organisms, the city is comprised of multiple parts, organs, cells and functions, each autonomously working with its own requirements while simultaneously interacting as gestalt system framework. In urban planning, the city has been made analogous to the human body and other representations in nature, expressed through the modernist doctrine of the functional city and more recently through biomimetic architectures. To be sustainable, branding is a key driver of the city DNA, promoting each city’s unique character and competitive advantage in order to attract investment and to stimulate growth. The next generation of the smart city ontology is a new socio-cyber-physical formation where these realms converge as interactive, reflexive and hybrid systems. Mapping and simulation document this process as real-time strata of physical and virtual city systems, incorporating diverse geographic, human and technological data, establishing a collective intelligence that governs cities as self-regulating organisms.
