Abstract:AbstractA new approximate decoupling method for linear time‐invariant systems based on the concept of energetic diagonal dominance is proposed in this paper. It is a time‐domain approach and the design procedure is simpler than that of frequency‐domain approach. The conditions for the energetic decoupling with simultaneous stabilizability are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). It is very convenient to solve this problem using the powerful LMI toolbox. The results are derived first for proper systems with nonsingular D, and then extended to strictly proper systems. Illustrative examples demonstrate that this method has satisfactory decoupling performance.

Abstract:For fast dynamic processes and non-square multivariable systems, a multivariable constrained fast dynamic matrix control (DMC) algorithm was presented. A two-layer architecture including dynamic and economic optimization induced an auto control structure transformation for non-square multivariable systems. The extra degrees of freedom could be utilized to calculate the optimal values of inputs when the basic control objects of outputs were met. The approach of coordinating the step response model with the parametric model was employed to improve output prediction and remove truncation error. The one-step control move was calculated by only optimizing one point in the future horizon for each output. Compared to the traditional DMC algorithm, the proposed algorithm greatly reduces the calculation burden and has better control performance, and it can be embedded in distributed control system (DCS). The effectiveness of the algorithm was validated by an industrial project and a simulated example.

Abstract:In many applications, the system dynamics allows the decomposition into lower dimensional subsystems with interconnections among them. This decomposition is motivated by the ease and flexibility of the controller design for each subsystem. In this paper, a decentralized model reference adaptive iterative learning control scheme is developed for interconnected systems with model uncertainties. The interconnections in the dynamic equations of each subsystem are considered with unknown boundaries. The proposed controller of each subsystem depends only on local state variables without any information exchange with other subsystems. The adaptive parameters are updated along iteration axis to compensate the interconnections among subsystems. It is shown that by using the proposed decentralized controller, the states of the subsystems can track the desired reference model states iteratively. Simulation results demonstrate that, utilizing the proposed adaptive controller, the tracking error for each subsystem converges along the iteration axis.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel decoupling control scheme based on adjoint matrix is proposed. By introducing the concept of characteristic sequence, the characteristic sequence of both the adjoint transfer matrix and the determinant transfer function are derived from that of original process transfer matrix. The adjoint transfer matrix and determinant transfer function are then determined. Finally, the adjoint matrix is selected as a decoupler, and the decentralized controller is designed for the determinant transfer function. The effectiveness of the proposed design approach is verified by three multivariable industrial processes, which shows that it results in better overall performance compared with other methods.

Decoupling control strategy based on neural network has been studied, as well as the design of a neural network controller, and the complete of Matlab simulation. Abstract:Decoupling of the electro-hydraulic multivariable position coupling system is designed and experimented using diagonal matrix method. The feedback decoupling and feedback complete decoupling schenes are applied respectively to eliminate the effects of structure coupling and outside disturbance force on the decoupiling control. The results show that it has distinct decoupling effect. This method can be realized only by position value of two hydraulic cylinder piston,so that the algorithm is simple and easy to be applied in engineering.

The decoupler based on this method can decouple a plant with normbounded uncertainties as far as possible, while closed-loop stability and robust performance are satisfied. Abstract:The inverted decoupling based control is deemed as a simple and efficient method in industry. But it suffers from two problems, i) the Right-half Plane (RHP) zero in the multivariable system may lead to unstable decoupler elements; ii) The closed-loop performance is sensitive to the modelling uncertainties. To this end, this paper utilized adverse Maclaurin approximation to handle the RHP zero. Furthermore, the active disturbance rejection controller is adopted as an outer-loop controller to improve the robustness. The simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

Abstract:A simultaneous trajectory tracking and stability control method is present for the four-wheel independent drive (4WID) automated vehicles to handle dynamic coupling maneuvers. To conquer the disadvantage that attendant disturbances caused by the dynamic coupling of traditional decentralized control methods degenerate the trajectory tracking accuracy, the proposed method takes advantage of the idea of decoupling to optimize the tracking performance. After establishing the dynamic model of the 4WID automated vehicles, the coupling mechanism of the vehicle dynamic control and its negative effect on trajectory tracking were studied at first. The inverse system model was then determined by machine learning and connected in series with the controlled object to form a pseudo linear system to realize dynamic decoupling. Finally, differing from previous tracking methods following the apparent lateral position and longitudinal velocity references, the pseudo linear system tracks the ideal intermediate targets transferred from the target trajectory, that is, the accelerations of vehicle in longitudinal, lateral and yaw directions, to indirectly achieve trajectory tracking and validly restrain the vehicle motion. The effectiveness of the proposed method, i.e., the high tracking accuracy and the stable driving performance, is verified through three coupling driving scenarios in the CarSim-Simulink co-simulations platform.
Novel Decoupling Control and Eigenstructure Assignment Strategies for Rigid Active Magnetic Bearing Rotor System

Abstract:This paper presents a state feedback decoupling control strategy for an active magnetic bearing (AMB) highspeed flywheel rotor system. The most important aspect of the proposed strategy is to design an appropriate state feedback decoupling control law that ensures that the input and output of the controlled system exhibit a one-to-one relationship. Research indicates that the state feedback gain matrix $K$ already contains sufficient information to enable arbitrary configuration of the eigenvalues of the controlled system, which is usually an 8th order system. Simulations show that this strategy transforms the four coupled radial channels of the AMB high-speed flywheel rotor system into four independent channels. Arbitrary assignment of all the poles on the complex plane makes it easier to design various controllers and achieve both good control performance and good internal stability. The example presented at the end of the article illustrates the practicability of this control strategy.
Intelligent decoupling control for thickness and tension system of tandem cold rolling mill

Abstract:The thickness and tension system is multi-variable,strong coupling and uncertain in the modern cold strip mill. The coupling mathematic model of thickness and tension system is established based on field data from 1700 mm cold rolling mill. By considering the uncertainties such as model parameter perturbation and external disturbance,the quasi-diagonal recurrent neural network PID strategy is proposed to realize the thickness and tension decoupling control. It has a strong ability to express and process the transient information. The simulation results show that the effectiveness of the algorithm and its response speed and anti-interference ability are obviously superior to conventional decoupling control,which is suitable to solve the dynamic problems in a nonlinear system.

Abstract:Due to increasing complexity of systems in industrial applications, decoupling control of interconnected or cascaded systems has been discussed a lot recent years. A traditional way to deal with the system is to decouple the system states so that the states of each subsystem can be dealt with independently. This works theoretically well in most cases, however, for systems with high dimensions or with constraints on specific subsystems, this method may not be efficient or flexible enough in practical applications. In view of this, this paper proposes a backpropagation algorithm for decoupling control of a linear time invariant cascaded system with inner feedback loops, which simplifies the complicated system into several simpler ones, so that the system can be dealt with more efficiently and flexibly. Accordingly, the stability of the system is analyzed in a feedforward way, establishing the sufficient as well as necessary conditions for asymptotic stability of the system. Simulation experiment on the steering module of a steer-by-wire system verifies the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Finally, future researches following this paper are pointed out to perfect the algorithm proposed.

Abstract:Motors are widely employed in mechatronic systems, especially in precision multiple degrees of freedom motion systems. In most applications, the dynamic equation between the motor instruction and the actual driving force is simplified as a constant. Subsequently, the static decoupling method can be utilized to design the feedback controller. However, in high-precision mechatronic systems, motor dynamics cannot be neglected, and the static decoupling performance is compromised due to discrepancies between motors. In this paper, a dynamic decoupling method is developed to improve the decoupling performance of the multiple-input multiple-output systems. The effects of transmission delays, motor dynamics, and discrepancies between different motors are taken into consideration in the dynamic decoupling method. Furthermore, a data-driven optimization method is developed to estimate the parameters of the dynamic decoupling controller. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method are demonstrated through numerical simulations. The experimental results show that the dynamic decoupling control method can achieve a 97.75% performance improvement at least compared to the static decoupling control method.

Abstract:Decoupling control is still an important research topic for precision multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) motion systems involved in computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, wafer scanners, etc. In this paper, to minimize internal coupling and improve servo performance, a data-based iterative dynamic decoupling control (IDDC) approach is synthesized. Specifically, a MIMO dynamic decoupling controller structured with finite impulse response filter is used as an add-on to a static decoupling part. Then, a data-based parameter optimization algorithm is developed such that the optimal parameters can be iteratively solved based entirely on the input/output data by minimizing the coupling-induced error. Unlike pre-existing IDDC approaches, the proposed approach can achieve an unbiased estimate of the optimal parameters combined with a small estimate variance that is illustrated through numerical simulation. Finally, application to an ultraprecision wafer stage confirms that the proposed approach significantly decreases the coupling-induced error and achieves enhanced performance compared to pre-existing approaches.

Abstract:Conventional multivariable controls may face challenges in industrial implementation due to their computation intensity, controller complexity, and/or poor robustness. To this end, this paper developed a practical multivariable control method, consisting of inverted decoupling and decentralized active disturbance rejection controller (ADRC). Strong robustness is achieved with negligible computation and simple forms of the decoupler and controller. Moreover, the disturbance rejection is markedly accelerated. On the basis of the two-input–two-output (TITO) system description, first discussed are the practical advantages of inverted decoupling that can be easily extended to high dimensional systems. Particularly, a compensation method is proposed to make the inverted decoupling applicable for the processes with right-half plane zeros. Abstract:For the planar motor motion system with uncertainty model parameters,the scheme of current distribution is the essence that causes the coupling effects between multi-degrees of freedom. The recently research on decoupled control was mainly focus on the control algorithm design of each degree of freedom,by which the problem of coupling was not solved from the physical level. In view of the decoupled control for the planar motor with three degrees of freedom,the ARMA(auto regressive and moving average) model is established by the current input and the position output of each coil,and the minimum square of residual error between the measured output and the estimated output is applied as the objective,then a decoupled control method is proposed on the basis of self-adaptive correction for current distribution coefficient,and the recursive discretization model is given out,which can be used in the actual control. By online adjustment,the estimated current distribution coefficients will approximate the actual model parameters,and then the coupling effects can be reduced from the physical nature. The trajectory tracking experiments are carried out,comparing with the decoupled control method of data base,and the results show that the positioning and tracking performance are improved. Thus the decoupling effectiveness for MIMO(multiple input multiple output) motion system is verified.

Abstract:Due to the multi-loop coupling characteristics of multivariable systems, it is difficult for traditional control methods to achieve precise control effects. Therefore, this paper proposes a control method based on deep reinforcement learning to achieve stable and accurate control of multivariable coupling systems. Based on the proximal policy optimization algorithm (PPO), this method selects tanh as the activation function and normalizes the advantage function. At the same time, based on the characteristics of the multivariable coupling system, the reward function and controller are redesigned structures, achieving stable and precise control of the controlled system. In addition, this study used the amplitude of the control quantity output by the controller as an indicator to evaluate the controller's performance. Finally, simulation verification was conducted in MATLAB/Simulink. The experimental results show that compared with decentralized control, decoupled control and traditional PPO control, the method proposed in this article achieves better control effects.
